Praise for the Lord’s Mercies

A Psalm of David.

103 Bless (A)the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
(B)Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who (C)heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
(D)Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that (E)your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

The Lord executes righteousness
And justice for all who are oppressed.
(F)He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the children of Israel.
(G)The Lord is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
(H)He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
10 (I)He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor punished us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He (J)removed our transgressions from us.
13 (K)As a father pities his children,
So the Lord pities those who fear Him.

Psalm 103:22

22 Bless the Lord, all His works,
In all places of His dominion.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!

Ezekiel 16:53-63

53 (A)“When I bring back their captives, the captives of Sodom and her daughters, and the captives of Samaria and her daughters, then I will also bring back (B)the captives of your captivity among them, 54 that you may bear your own shame and be disgraced by all that you did when (C)you comforted them. 55 When your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, return to their former state, and Samaria and her daughters return to their former state, then you and your daughters will return to your former state. 56 For your sister Sodom was not a byword in your mouth in the days of your pride, 57 before your wickedness was uncovered. It was like the time of the (D)reproach of the daughters of [a]Syria and all those around her, and of (E)the daughters of the Philistines, who despise you everywhere. 58 (F)You have paid for your lewdness and your abominations,” says the Lord. 59 For thus says the Lord God: “I will deal with you as you have done, who (G)despised (H)the oath by breaking the covenant.

An Everlasting Covenant

60 “Nevertheless I will (I)remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish (J)an everlasting covenant with you. 61 Then (K)you will remember your ways and be ashamed, when you receive your older and your younger sisters; for I will give them to you for (L)daughters, (M)but not because of My covenant with you. 62 (N)And I will establish My covenant with you. Then you shall know that I am the Lord, 63 that you may (O)remember and be ashamed, (P)and never open your mouth anymore because of your shame, when I provide you an atonement for all you have done,” says the Lord God.’ ”

John 7:53-8:11

An Adulteress Faces the Light of the World

53 [a]And everyone went to his own house.

Jesus the Light of the World

But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

Now [b]early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and (A)taught them. Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said to Him, “Teacher, [c]this woman was caught in (B)adultery, in the very act. (C)Now [d]Moses, in the law, commanded us [e]that such should be stoned. But what do You [f]say?” This they said, testing Him, that they (D)might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, [g]as though He did not hear.

So when they continued asking Him, He [h]raised Himself up and said to them, (E)“He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.” And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard it, (F)being[i] convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had raised Himself up [j]and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers [k]of yours? Has no one condemned you?”

11 She said, “No one, Lord.”

And Jesus said to her, (G)“Neither do I condemn you; go [l]and (H)sin no more.”
