Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
The Lord’s Wonderful Works in Behalf of Israel.
105 Oh (A)give thanks to the Lord, (B)call upon His name;
(C)Make known His deeds among the peoples.
2 Sing to Him, (D)sing praises to Him;
[a](E)Speak of all His [b]wonders.
3 [c]Glory in His holy name;
Let the (F)heart of those who seek the Lord be glad.
4 Seek the Lord and (G)His strength;
(H)Seek His face continually.
5 Remember His [d](I)wonders which He has done,
His marvels and the (J)judgments [e]uttered by His mouth,
6 O seed of (K)Abraham, His servant,
O sons of (L)Jacob, His (M)chosen ones!
7 He is the Lord our God;
His (N)judgments are in all the earth.
8 He has (O)remembered His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded to a (P)thousand generations,
9 The (Q)covenant which He made with Abraham,
And His (R)oath to Isaac.
10 Then He (S)confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 Saying, “(T)To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the [f](U)portion of your inheritance,”
37 Then He brought them out with (A)silver and gold,
And among His tribes there was not one who stumbled.
38 Egypt was (B)glad when they departed,
For the (C)dread of them had fallen upon them.
39 He spread a (D)cloud for a [a]covering,
And (E)fire to illumine by night.
40 [b]They (F)asked, and He brought (G)quail,
And satisfied them with the [c](H)bread of heaven.
41 He opened the [d]rock and (I)water flowed out;
[e]It ran in the dry places like a river.
42 For He (J)remembered His holy word
With Abraham His servant;
43 And He brought forth His people with joy,
His chosen ones with a joyful (K)shout.
44 He (L)gave them also the lands of the [f]nations,
That they (M)might take possession of the fruit of the peoples’ labor,
45 So that they might (N)keep His statutes
And observe His laws,
[g]Praise [h]the Lord!
12 “For thus says the Lord,
‘Your wound is incurable
And your (A)injury is serious.
13 ‘There is no one to plead your cause;
No healing for your sore,
(B)No recovery for you.
14 ‘All your (C)lovers have forgotten you,
They do not seek you;
For I have (D)wounded you with the wound of an enemy,
With the (E)punishment of a (F)cruel one,
Because your (G)iniquity is great
And your (H)sins are numerous.
15 ‘Why do you cry out over your injury?
Your pain is incurable.
Because your iniquity is great
And your sins are numerous,
I have done these things to you.
16 ‘Therefore all who (I)devour you will be devoured;
And all your adversaries, every one of them, (J)will go into captivity;
And those who plunder you will be for plunder,
And all who prey upon you I will give for prey.
17 ‘For I will [a]restore you to [b](K)health
And I will heal you of your wounds,’ declares the Lord,
‘Because they have called you an (L)outcast, saying:
“It is Zion; no one [c]cares for her.”’
Restoration of Jacob
18 “Thus says the Lord,
‘Behold, I will (M)restore the [d]fortunes of the tents of Jacob
And (N)have compassion on his dwelling places;
And the (O)city will be rebuilt on its ruin,
And the (P)palace will stand on its rightful place.
19 ‘From them will proceed (Q)thanksgiving
And the voice of those who [e](R)celebrate;
And I will (S)multiply them and they will not be diminished;
I will also (T)honor them and they will not be insignificant.
20 ‘[f]Their children also will be as formerly,
And [g]their congregation shall be (U)established before Me;
And I will punish all [h]their oppressors.
21 ‘[i]Their (V)leader shall be one of them,
And [j]their ruler shall come forth from [k]their midst;
And I will (W)bring him near and he shall approach Me;
For [l]who would dare to risk his life to (X)approach Me?’ declares the Lord.
22 ‘You shall be (Y)My people,
And I will be your God.’”
36 While you have the Light, (A)believe in the Light, so that you may become (B)sons of Light.”
These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and [a](C)hid Himself from them. 37 But though He had performed so many [b]signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him. 38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: “(D)Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” 39 For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again, 40 “(E)He has blinded their eyes and He (F)hardened their heart, so that they would not see with their eyes and perceive with their heart, and [c]be converted and I heal them.” 41 These things Isaiah said because (G)he saw His glory, and (H)he spoke of Him. 42 Nevertheless (I)many even of (J)the rulers believed in Him, but (K)because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be [d](L)put out of the synagogue; 43 (M)for they loved the [e]approval of men rather than the [f]approval of God.
