Psalm 89:1-4

God’s Promise to David

89 I will sing of the loving-kindness of the Lord forever. I will make known with my mouth how faithful You are to all people. For I said, “Loving-kindness will be built up forever. You will make known how faithful You are in the heavens.”

You said, “I have made an agreement with My chosen one. I have promised to David, Your servant. I will make your seed last forever. I will build up your throne for all the children-to-come.”

Psalm 89:19-26

19 Once You spoke in a special dream to Your faithful ones, saying: “I have given help to a powerful one. I have honored a chosen one from among the people. 20 I have found David, Your servant. I have poured My holy oil upon him. 21 My hand will stay with him. And My arm will give him strength. 22 Those who hate him will not fool him. No sinful man will bring trouble to him. 23 But he will see Me crush those who fight against him. I will kill those who hate him. 24 I will be faithful and My loving-kindness will be with him. And in My name he will become great. 25 I will set his hand on the sea also, and his right hand on the rivers. 26 He will cry to Me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the rock that saves me.’

2 Samuel 6:12-19

12 Now it was told to King David, “The Lord has brought good to the house of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the special box of God.” So David went and brought the special box of God from Obed-edom’s family into the city of David with joy. 13 When the men who carried the special box of the Lord had gone six steps, David killed and gave to the Lord a bull and a fat calf. 14 He was dancing before the Lord with all his strength. And he was wearing a linen vest. 15 So David and all those of the family of Israel were bringing the special box of the Lord with a loud voice and the sound of the horn. 16 As the special box of the Lord came into the city of David, Saul’s daughter Michal looked out of the window. She saw King David jumping and dancing before the Lord, and she hated him in her heart. 17 They brought in the special box of the Lord and put it in its place inside the tent David had set up for it. And David gave burnt gifts and peace gifts to the Lord. 18 When he had finished giving the burnt gifts and peace gifts, David prayed that good would come to the people in the name of the Lord of All. 19 Then he gave a loaf of bread, a loaf of dates and a loaf of dried grapes to each man and woman of all the people of Israel. And all the people went home.

Hebrews 1:5-14

God did not say to any of His angels, “You are My Son. Today I have become Your Father.” (A) And He did not say to any angel, “I will be a Father to Him. He will be a Son to Me.” (B) But when God brought His first-born Son, Jesus, into the world, He said, “Let all the angels of God worship Him.” He said this about the angels, “He makes His angels to be winds. He makes His servants a burning fire.” (C) But about His Son, He says, “O God, Your throne will last forever. Whatever You say in Your nation is right and good. You have loved what is right. You have hated what is wrong. That is why God, Your God, has chosen You. He has poured over You the oil of joy more than over anyone else.” (D) 10 He said also, “Lord, You made the earth in the beginning. You made the heavens with Your hands. 11 They will be destroyed but You will always be here. They will all become old just as clothes become old. 12 You will roll up the heavens like a coat. They will be changed. But You are always the same. You will never grow old.” (E) 13 God never said to any angel, “Sit at My right side, until I make those who hate You a place to rest Your feet.” (F) 14 Are not all the angels spirits who work for God? They are sent out to help those who are to be saved from the punishment of sin.
