Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
BOOK 1
The Righteous and the Wicked Contrasted.
1 Blessed is the person who (A)does not walk in the (B)counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the [a](C)path of sinners,
Nor (D)sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his (E)delight is (F)in the Law of the Lord,
And on His Law he meditates (G)day and (H)night.
3 He will be like (I)a tree planted by [b]streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season,
And its [c]leaf does not wither;
And [d]in whatever he does, (J)he prospers.
25 “(A)So I fell down before the Lord for the forty days and nights, which I [a]did because the Lord said He would destroy you. 26 (B)And I prayed to the Lord and said, ‘Lord God, do not destroy Your people, Your inheritance, whom You have redeemed through Your greatness, whom You have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand! 27 Remember Your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; do not turn Your attention to the stubbornness of this people, or to their wickedness, or their sin. 28 Otherwise, the people of the land from which You brought us will say, “(C)Since the Lord was not able to bring them into the land which He had [b]promised them, and since He hated them, He has brought them out to kill them in the wilderness!” 29 Yet they are Your people, and (D)Your inheritance, whom You brought out by Your (E)great power and Your outstretched arm.’
The Tablets Rewritten
10 “At that time the Lord said to me, ‘(F)Cut out for yourself two tablets of stone like the first two, and come up to Me on the mountain, and (G)make an [c]ark of wood for yourself. 2 Then (H)I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you smashed to pieces, and (I)you shall put them in the ark.’ 3 So (J)I made an ark of acacia wood and (K)cut out two tablets of stone like the first two, and I went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hand. 4 Then He wrote on the tablets, like the first writing, (L)the Ten [d]Commandments (M)which the Lord had spoken to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire (N)on the day of the assembly; and the Lord gave them to me. 5 Then I turned and (O)came down from the mountain, and I (P)put the tablets in the ark which I had made; (Q)and they are there, just as the Lord commanded me.”
11 For the grace of God has (A)appeared, [a](B)bringing salvation to all people, 12 [b]instructing us to deny ungodliness and (C)worldly desires and (D)to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner (E)in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and the (F)appearing of the glory of [c](G)our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, 14 who (H)gave Himself for us (I)to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to (J)purify for Himself a (K)people for His own possession, (L)eager for good deeds.
15 These things speak and [d](M)exhort, and (N)rebuke with all authority. (O)No one is to disregard you.
