Jeremiah 15:15-21

15 O LORD, You know. Remember me and visit me and avenge me on my persecutors. Do not take me away in the continuance of Your anger! Know that for Your sake I have suffered rebuke.

16 Your Words were found and I ate them. And Your Word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart! For Your Name is called upon me, O LORD, God of Hosts!

17 I did not sit in the assembly of the mockers, nor did I rejoice, but sat alone, because of Your plague. For You have filled me with indignation.

18 Why is my heaviness continual and my plague desperate and cannot be healed? Are You as a liar to me, as waters that fail?

19 Therefore thus says the LORD: “If you return, then I will bring you back. And you shall stand before Me. And if you take out the precious from the vile, you shall be according to My Word. Let them return to you, but do not return to them.

20 “And I will make you a strong brazen wall to this people. And they shall fight against you. But they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you, to save you, and to deliver you,” says the LORD.

21 “And I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked. And I will redeem you out of the hand of the tyrants.”

Psalm 26:1-8

26 Judge me, O LORD, for I have walked in my innocence. My trust has also been in the LORD. Therefore, I shall not slide.

Test me, O LORD, and try me. Examine my core and my heart.

For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes. Therefore, I have walked in Your truth.

I have not dwelt with frivolous people, nor kept company with the deceitful.

I have hated the assembly of the evil and have not kept company with the wicked.

I will wash my hands in innocence, O LORD, and surround Your altar.

So that I may declare with the voice of thanksgiving and set forth all Your wondrous works.

O LORD, I have loved the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your honor dwells.

Romans 12:9-21

love without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil, and cling to that which is good.

10 Be kindly affectionate toward one another with brotherly love. Lead one another toward honor,

11 not slothful to do service, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord,

12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing in prayer,

13 distributing to the needs of the saints, giving yourselves to the loving of strangers.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless, I say, and do not curse.

15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

16 Be like-minded toward one another. Do not be high-minded; but align yourselves with the humble. Do not be wise in your own eyes.

17 Repay no one evil for evil. Provide honorably in the sight of all mankind.

18 If it is possible, as much as you can, be at peace with all mankind.

19 Dearly beloved, do not avenge yourselves; but give Wrath its opportunity. For it is written, “Vengeance is Mine. I will repay”, says the Lord.

20 Therefore, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he thirsts, give him drink. For in so doing, you shall heap coals of fire on his head.”

21 Be not overcome by evil. But, overcome evil with good.

Matthew 16:21-28

21 From that time forth, Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and the chief priests, and scribes, and be slain, and be raised again the third day.

22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Far be it from You, Master! This shall not happen to You!”

23 Then He turned back and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me because you do not understand the things of God, but the things of men!”

24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone will follow Me, let him forsake himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

25 “For whoever would save his life, shall lose it. And whoever shall lose his life, for My sake, shall find it.

26 “For what shall it profit a man if he should win the whole world, yet he loses his own soul? Or what shall a man give for recompense of his soul?

27 “For the Son of Man shall come in the Glory of his Father, with His angels. And then He shall give to everyone according to his deeds.

28 “Truly I say to you, some of those who stand here shall not taste death before they have seen the Son of Man come in His Kingdom.”
