Version
Psalm 145:8-9

Gracious and merciful is the Lord,
    slow to become angry,
        and overflowing with gracious love.
The Lord is good to everyone
and his mercies extend to everything he does.

Psalm 145:14-21

14 The Lord supports everyone who falls
and raises up those who are bowed down.
15 Everyone’s eyes are on you,
as you give them their food in due time.
16 You[a] open your hand
and keep on satisfying the desire of every living thing.

17 The Lord is righteous in all of his ways
and graciously loving in all of his activities.
18 The Lord remains near to all who call out to him,
to everyone who calls out to him sincerely.[b]
19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear him,
hearing their cry and saving them.
20 The Lord preserves everyone who loves him,
but he will destroy all of the wicked.

21 My mouth will praise the Lord,
and all creatures will bless his holy name forever and ever.

Isaiah 44:1-5

God’s Blessing on Israel

44 “But now listen, Jacob my servant
and Israel whom I have chosen:
This what the Lord says, the one who made you,
    formed you from the womb,
        and who will help[a] you:
“Don’t be afraid, Jacob my servant,
and Jeshurun,[b] whom I have chosen.
For I’ll pour water upon thirsty ground
    and streams on parched land.
So[c] will I pour my Spirit upon your offspring,
and my blessing upon your descendants.
They’ll[d] spring up as among[e] the green grass,
    like willows by flowing streams.
One will say, ‘I belong to the Lord,’
    and another will call himself by the name of Jacob;
still another will have written on his hand, ‘the Lord’s,’
and will adopt the name of Israel.”

Matthew 7:7-11

Ask, Search, Knock(A)

“Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door[a] will be opened for you. Because everyone who keeps asking will receive, and the person who keeps searching will find, and the person who keeps knocking will have the door[b] opened.

“There isn’t a person among you who would give his son a stone if he asked for bread, is there? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, he wouldn’t give him a snake, would he? 11 So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who keep on asking him!
