Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
SCHIN
161 Princes have persecuted me without cause, but my heart stood in awe of Your Words.
162 I rejoice at Your Word, as one who finds a great spoil.
163 I hate falsehood and abhor it, but Your Law do I love.
164 Seven times a day do I praise You because of Your righteous Judgments.
165 Those who love Your Law shall have great peace. And nothing shall cause them to stumble.
166 LORD, I have trusted in Your salvation; and have done Your Commandments.
167 My soul has kept Your Testimonies, for I love them exceedingly.
168 I have kept Your Precepts and Your Testimonies, for all my ways are before You.
18 The Word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2 “Arise, and go down into the potter’s house, and there shall I show you My Words.”
3 Then I went down to the potter’s house. And behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
4 And the vessel that he made of clay was broken in the hand of the potter. So he returned and made it another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make.
5 Then the Word of the LORD came to me, saying,
6 “O House of Israel! Cannot I do with you as this potter,” says the LORD? “Behold, as the clay in the potter’s hand, so you are in My Hand, O House of Israel.
7 “I will speak suddenly against a nation, or against a kingdom, to pluck it up and to root it out and to destroy it.
8 “But if this nation against whom I have pronounced turns from their wickedness, I will turn from the plague that I had thought to bring upon them.
9 “And I will speak suddenly concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build it and to plant it.
10 “But if it does evil in My sight, and does not hear My Voice, I will turn from the good that I had thought to do for them.
11 “Speak now, therefore, to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD: “Behold, I prepare a plague for you, and plan something against you. Therefore, every one of you return from his evil way, and make your ways and your works good.”
20 Then He began to reproach the cities wherein most of His great works were done, because they did not repent.
21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the great works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, in sackcloth and ashes.
22 “But I say to you it shall be easier for Tyre and Sidon on the Day of Judgment than for you.
23 “And you, Capernaum, who is lifted up to Heaven, shall be brought down to Hell! For if the great works which have been done in you had been done among those of Sodom, they would still remain to this day!
24 “But I say to you that it shall be easier for them of the land of Sodom on the Day of Judgment than for you.”
