61 Unto the end, for Idithun, a psalm of David.

² Shall not my soul be subject to God? for from him is my salvation.

³ For he is my God and my saviour: he is my protector, I shall be moved no more.

⁴ How long do you rush in upon a man? you all kill, as if you were thrusting down a leaning wall, and a tottering fence.

⁵ But they have thought to cast away my price; I ran in thirst: they blessed with their mouth, but cursed with their heart.

⁶ But be thou, O my soul, subject to God: for from him is my patience.

⁷ For he is my God and my saviour: he is my helper, I shall not be moved.

⁸ In God is my salvation and my glory: he is the God of my help, and my hope is in God.

⁹ Trust in him, all ye congregation of people: pour out your hearts before him. God is our helper for ever.

¹⁰ But vain are the sons of men, the sons of men are liars in the balances: that by vanity they may together deceive.

¹¹ Trust not in iniquity, and cover not robberies: if riches abound, set not your heart upon them.

¹² God hath spoken once, these two things have I heard, that power belongeth to God,

¹³ And mercy to thee, O Lord; for thou wilt render to every man according to his works.

¹⁹ And he said to him: Go in peace. So he departed from him in the springtime of the earth.

²⁰ But Giezi the servant of the man of God said: My master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving of him that which he brought: as the Lord liveth, I will run after him, and take some thing of him:

²¹ And Giezi followed after Naaman: and when he saw him running after him, he leapt down from his chariot to meet him, and said: Is all well?

²² And he said: Well: my master hath sent me to thee, saying: Just now there are come to me from mount Ephraim, two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them a talent of silver, and two changes of garments.

²³ And Naaman said: It is better that thou take two talents. And he forced him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, and two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants, and they carried them before him.

²⁴ And when he was come, and now it was the evening, he took them from their hands, and laid them up in the house, and sent the men away, and they departed.

²⁵ But he went in, and stood before his master. And Eliseus said: Whence comest thou, Giezi? He answered: Thy servant went no whither.

²⁶ But he said: Was not my heart present, when the man turned back from his chariot to meet thee? So now thou hast received money, and received garments, to buy oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants.

²⁷ But the leprosy of Naaman shall also stick to thee, and to thy seed for ever. And he went out from him a leper as white as snow.

¹⁰ Finally, brethren, be strengthened in the Lord, and in the might of his power.

¹¹ Put you on the armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil.

¹² For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and power, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places.

¹³ Therefore take unto you the armour of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and to stand in all things perfect.

¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of justice,

¹⁵ And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace:

¹⁶ In all things taking the shield of faith, wherewith you may be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the most wicked one.

¹⁷ And take unto you the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit (which is the word of God).

¹⁸ By all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the spirit; and in the same watching with all instance and supplication for all the saints:

¹⁹ And for me, that speech may be given me, that I may open my mouth with confidence, to make known the mystery of the gospel.

²⁰ For which I am an ambassador in a chain, so that therein I may be bold to speak according as I ought.
