I Love Your Law, O Yahweh

119 How blessed are those whose way is [a](A)blameless,
Who (B)walk in the law of Yahweh.
How blessed are those who (C)observe His testimonies,
They (D)seek Him (E)with all their heart.
They also do not (F)work unrighteousness;
They walk in His ways.
You have (G)commanded us,
To keep Your precepts [b]diligently.
Oh may my (H)ways be established
To (I)keep Your statutes!
Then I (J)shall not be ashamed
When I look [c]upon all Your commandments.
I shall (K)give thanks to You with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Your righteous judgments.
I shall keep Your statutes;
Do not (L)forsake me utterly!

Exodus 22:1-15

Judgments About Property Rights

22 [a]If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, he shall pay five oxen for the ox and (A)four sheep for the sheep.

[b]If the (B)thief is [c]caught while breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there will be no bloodguiltiness on his account. But if the sun has risen on him, there will be bloodguiltiness on his account. He shall surely make restitution; if he owns nothing, then he shall be (C)sold for his theft. If what he stole is actually found alive in his hand, whether an ox or a donkey or a sheep, (D)he shall pay double.

“If a man lets a field or vineyard be grazed bare and lets his animal loose so that it grazes in another man’s field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field and the best of his own vineyard.

“If a fire breaks out and spreads to thorn bushes, so that stacked grain or the standing grain or the field itself is consumed, he who started the fire shall surely make restitution.

(E)If a man gives his neighbor money or goods to keep for him and it is stolen from the man’s house, if the thief is [d]caught, he shall pay double. If the thief is not [e]caught, then the owner of the house shall [f]appear before [g](F)the judges to determine whether he [h]laid his hands on his neighbor’s property. For every [i]breach of trust, whether it is for ox, for donkey, for sheep, for clothing, or for any lost thing about which one says, ‘This is it,’ the [j]case of both parties shall come before [k](G)the judges; he whom [l]the judges condemn shall pay double to his neighbor.

10 “If a man gives his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep for him, and it dies or is injured or is driven away while no one is looking, 11 then an (H)oath before Yahweh shall be made by the two of them [m]that he has not [n]laid hands on his neighbor’s property; and its owner shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution. 12 But if it is actually stolen from him, he shall make restitution to its owner. 13 Now if it is all torn to pieces, let him bring it as evidence; he shall not make restitution for what has been torn to pieces.

14 “If a man [o]borrows anything from his neighbor, and it is injured or dies while its owner is not with it, he shall make full restitution. 15 But if its owner is with it, he shall not make restitution; if it is hired, it came for its hire.

Hebrews 9:1-12

The Old Covenant

Now even the first covenant had (A)requirements of divine worship and (B)the earthly sanctuary. For there was (C)a tabernacle prepared: the first part, in which were (D)the lampstand and (E)the table and (F)the [a]sacred bread, which is called the holy place. And behind (G)the second veil there was a tabernacle which is called the (H)Holy of Holies, having a golden [b](I)altar of incense and (J)the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was (K)a golden jar holding the manna, and (L)Aaron’s rod which budded, and (M)the tablets of the covenant. And above it were the (N)cherubim of glory (O)overshadowing the [c]mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.

Now when these things have been so prepared, the priests (P)are continually entering the first part of the tabernacle performing the divine worship, but into (Q)the second, only (R)the high priest enters (S)once a year, (T)not without taking blood, which he (U)offers for himself and for the [d](V)sins of the people committed in ignorance. (W)The Holy Spirit is indicating this, (X)that the way into the holy places has not yet been manifested while that first part of the tabernacle is still standing, which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly (Y)both gifts and sacrifices are offered which (Z)cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience, 10 since they relate only to (AA)food and (AB)drink and various (AC)washings, (AD)requirements for the [e]body imposed until (AE)a time of reformation.

The New Covenant

11 But when Christ appeared as a (AF)high priest of the (AG)good things [f]to come, He entered through (AH)the greater and more perfect tabernacle, (AI)not made with hands, that is to say, (AJ)not of this creation, 12 and not through (AK)the blood of goats and calves, but (AL)through His own blood, He (AM)entered the holy places (AN)once for all, [g]having obtained (AO)eternal redemption.
