3 我们把所看到、
所听到的也向你们宣扬，
好使你们也能够与我们相契合[a]；
而我们又是与父
和他的儿子耶稣基督相契合的。
4 我们写[b]这些事，
好使我们[c]大家的喜乐得以满足。

与神相契合

5 我们从基督[d]所听到，现在又传讲给你们的信息是这样的：神就是光，在他里面毫无黑暗。 6 如果我们说自己与神相契合，却仍然在黑暗中行走，我们就是在说谎，没有遵行真理； 7 但如果我们在光明中行走，就像神在光明中那样，我们就是彼此相契合[e]的；而且神的儿子耶稣[f]的血也洁净我们脱离一切的罪。 8 如果我们说自己没有罪，我们就是在欺骗自己，真理就不在我们里面了； 9 如果我们承认自己的罪孽，神[g]是信实的、公义的，他就会赦免我们的罪孽，洁净我们脱离一切的不义。 10 如果我们说自己没有犯罪，我们就是把神[h]当做说谎者，他的话语就不在我们里面了。
