Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
92 1 This Psalm was made to be sung on the Sabbath, to stir up the people to acknowledge God, and to praise him in his works: the Prophet rejoiceth therein. 6 But the wicked is not able to consider, that the ungodly, when he is most flourishing, shall most speedily perish. 12 In the end is described the felicity of the just, planted in the house of God to praise the Lord.
A Psalm or song for the [a]Sabbath day.
1 It is a good thing to praise the Lord, and to sing unto thy Name, O most High,
2 To declare thy loving kindness in the [b]morning, and thy truth in the night,
3 Upon an [c]instrument of ten strings, and upon the viol, with the song upon the harp.
4 For thou Lord, hast made me glad by thy [d]works, and I will rejoice in the works of thine hands.
5 O Lord, how glorious are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
6 An [e]unwise man knoweth it not, and a fool doth not understand this,
7 (When the wicked grow as the grass, and all the workers of wickedness do flourish) that they shall be destroyed forever.
8 But thou, O Lord, art [f]most High forevermore.
9 For lo, thine enemies, O Lord: for lo, thine enemies shall perish: all the workers of iniquity shall be destroyed.
10 [g]But thou shalt exalt mine horn, like the unicorns, and I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
11 Mine eye also shall see my desire against mine enemies: and mine ears shall hear my wish against the wicked, that rise up against me.
12 The righteous shall [h]flourish like a palm tree, and shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Such as be planted in the house of the Lord, shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in their [i]age: they shall be fat and flourishing,
15 To declare that the Lord my rock is righteous, and that none iniquity is in him.
28 1 The promises to them that obey the Commandments. 15 The threatenings to the contrary.
1 If (A)thou shalt obey diligently the voice of the Lord thy God, and observe and do all his commandments, which I command thee this day, then the Lord thy God will [a]set thee on high above all the nations of the earth.
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and [b]overtake thee, if thou shalt obey the voice of the Lord thy God.
3 Blessed shalt thou be in the [c]city, and blessed also in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit [d]of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy dough.
6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou [e]comest in, and blessed also when thou goest out.
7 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise against thee, to fall before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and shall flee before thee [f]seven ways.
8 The Lord shall command the blessing to be with thee in thy store houses, and in all that thou settest thine [g]hand to, and will bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
9 The Lord shall make thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways,
10 Then all people of the earth shall see that the Name of the Lord is [h]called upon over thee, and they shall be afraid of thee.
11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord swore unto thy fathers, to give thee.
12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, even the [i]heaven to give rain unto thy land in due season, and to bless all the work of thine hands: and (B)thou shalt lend unto many nations, but shalt not borrow thyself.
13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the [j]tail, and thou shalt be above only, and shalt not be beneath, if thou obey the commandments of the Lord thy God which I command thee this day, to keep and to do them.
14 But thou shalt not decline from any of the words, which I command you this day, either to the (C)right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
17 [a]This I say therefore and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as (A)other Gentiles walk, in [b]vanity of their mind.
18 Having their understanding darkened, and being strangers from the [c]life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart:
19 Which being [d]past feeling, have given themselves unto wantonness, to work all uncleanness, even with [e]greediness.
20 [f]But ye have not so learned Christ,
21 If so be ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, [g]as the truth is in Jesus,
22 (B)That is, that ye cast off, concerning the conversation in time past, [h]that old man, which is corrupt through the deceivable lusts,
23 And be renewed in the [i]spirit of your mind,
24 And put on the new man, which [j]after God is created unto [k]righteousness, and [l]true holiness.
25 [m]Wherefore cast off lying, and speak every man truth unto his neighbor: for we are members one of another.
26 [n]Be [o]angry, but sin not: let not the sun go down [p]upon your wrath,
27 Neither give place to the devil.
28 [q]Let him that stole, steal no more: but let him rather labor, and work with his hands the thing which is [r]good, that he may have to give unto him that needeth.
29 [s]Let no [t]corrupt communication proceed out of your mouths: but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister [u]grace unto the hearers.
30 [v]And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, by whom ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and anger, and wrath, crying, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all maliciousness.
32 Be ye courteous one to another, and tender hearted, freely forgiving one another, [w]even as God for Christ’s sake, freely forgave you.
5 3 Lest, in those vices which he reprehended, they should set light by his admonitions, 5 he terrifieth them by denouncing severe judgment, 8 and stirreth them forward: 15 Then he defendeth from general lessons of manners, 22 to the particular duties of wives, 25 and husbands.
1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children,
2 (C)And walk in love, even as Christ hath loved us, and hath given himself for us, to be an offering and a sacrifice of a sweet smelling savor to God.
