Psalm 92:1-4

(A psalm and a song for the Sabbath.)

Sing Praises to the Lord

It is wonderful to be grateful
and to sing your praises,
    Lord Most High!
It is wonderful each morning
    to tell about your love
and at night to announce
    how faithful you are.
I enjoy praising your name
    to the music of harps,
because everything you do
makes me happy,
    and I sing joyful songs.

Psalm 92:12-15

12 Good people will prosper
    like palm trees,
and they will grow strong
    like the cedars of Lebanon.
13 They will take root
in your house, Lord God,
    and they will do well.
14 They will be like trees
that stay healthy and fruitful,
    even when they are old.
15 And they will say about you,
“The Lord always does right!
    God is our mighty rock.”[a]

Proverbs 15:1-9

The Lord Sees Everything

15 A kind answer
    soothes angry feelings,
but harsh words
    stir them up.
Words of wisdom
come from the wise,
    but fools speak foolishness.

The Lord sees everything,
    whether good or bad.
Kind words are good medicine,
but deceitful words
    can really hurt.
Don't be a fool
and disobey your parents.
    Be smart! Accept correction.
Good people become wealthy,
but those who are evil
    will lose what they have.
Words of wisdom
    make good sense;
the thoughts of a fool
    make no sense at all.

The Lord is disgusted
    by gifts from the wicked,
but it makes him happy
    when his people pray.
The Lord is disgusted
    with all who do wrong,
but he loves everyone
    who does right.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

The Lord's Coming

13 My friends, we want you to understand how it will be for those followers who have already died. Then you won't grieve over them and be like people who don't have any hope. 14 We believe Jesus died and was raised to life. We also believe that when God brings Jesus back again, he will bring with him all who had faith in Jesus before they died. 15 (A)(B) Our Lord Jesus told us that when he comes, we won't go up to meet him ahead of his followers who have already died.

16 (C) With a loud command and with the shout of the chief angel and a blast of God's trumpet, the Lord will return from heaven. Then those who had faith in Christ before they died will be raised to life. 17 Next, all of us who are still alive will be taken up into the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the sky. From that time on we will all be with the Lord forever. 18 Encourage each other with these words.
