Psalm 110

Announcement of the Messiah’s Reign(A)

A Psalm of David.

110 The (B)Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your (C)footstool.”
The Lord shall send the rod of Your strength (D)out of Zion.
(E)Rule in the midst of Your enemies!

(F)Your people shall be volunteers
In the day of Your power;
(G)In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning,
You have the dew of Your youth.
The Lord has sworn
And (H)will not relent,
“You are a (I)priest forever
According to the order of (J)Melchizedek.”

The Lord is (K)at Your right hand;
He shall [a]execute kings (L)in the day of His wrath.
He shall judge among the nations,
He shall fill the places with dead bodies,
(M)He shall [b]execute the heads of many countries.
He shall drink of the brook by the wayside;
(N)Therefore He shall lift up the head.

Exodus 3:7-15

And the Lord said: (A)“I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry (B)because of their taskmasters, (C)for I know their [a]sorrows. So (D)I have come down to (E)deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land (F)to a good and large land, to a land (G)flowing with milk and honey, to the place of (H)the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. Now therefore, behold, (I)the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the (J)oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10 (K)Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”

11 But Moses said to God, (L)“Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”

12 So He said, (M)“I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a (N)sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”

13 Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?”

14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, (O)‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” 15 Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is (P)My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’

John 8:39-59

39 They answered and said to Him, (A)“Abraham is our father.”

Jesus said to them, (B)“If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham. 40 (C)But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth (D)which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. 41 You do the deeds of your father.”

Then they said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; (E)we have one Father—God.”

42 Jesus said to them, (F)“If God were your Father, you would love Me, for (G)I proceeded forth and came from God; (H)nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 (I)Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 (J)You are of your father the devil, and the (K)desires of your father you want to (L)do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and (M)does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 (N)He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

Before Abraham Was, I AM

48 Then the Jews answered and said to Him, “Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and (O)have a demon?”

49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and (P)you dishonor Me. 50 And (Q)I do not seek My own glory; there is One who seeks and judges. 51 Most assuredly, I say to you, (R)if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death.”

52 Then the Jews said to Him, “Now we know that You (S)have a demon! (T)Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and You say, ‘If anyone keeps My word he shall never taste death.’ 53 Are You greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. (U)Who do You make Yourself out to be?”

54 Jesus answered, (V)“If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. (W)It is My Father who honors Me, of whom you say that He is [a]your God. 55 Yet (X)you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I say, ‘I do not know Him,’ I shall be a liar like you; but I do know Him and (Y)keep His word. 56 Your father Abraham (Z)rejoiced to see My day, (AA)and he saw it and was glad.”

57 Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”

58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, (AB)before Abraham was, (AC)I AM.”

59 Then (AD)they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, (AE)going[b] through the midst of them, and so passed by.
