Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
Version
1 Peter 1:8-17

You love Him,(A) though you have not seen(B) Him. And though not seeing Him now, you believe in Him and rejoice(C) with inexpressible and glorious joy, because you are receiving the goal of your[a] faith, the salvation of your souls.[b]

10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets(D) who prophesied about the grace that would come to you searched and carefully investigated. 11 They inquired into what time or what circumstances[c] the Spirit of Christ(E) within them was indicating when He testified in advance(F) to the messianic sufferings[d](G) and the glories(H) that would follow.[e] 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you. These things have now been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you(I) by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven.(J) Angels desire to look into these things.

A Call to Holy Living

13 Therefore, with your minds ready for action,[f](K) be serious(L) and set your hope(M) completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation(N) of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children,(O) do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance. 15 But as the One who called you(P) is holy,(Q) you also are to be holy in all your conduct; 16 for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.(R)[g]

17 And if you address as Father the One who judges impartially(S) based on each one’s work,(T) you are to conduct yourselves in fear(U) during the time of your temporary residence.
