Old/New Testament
ALEPH
1 Blessed are those who are upright in their way and walk in the Law of the LORD.
2 Blessed are those who keep His Testimonies and seek Him with their whole heart.
3 Surely, they work no iniquity, but walk in His ways.
4 You have commanded to keep Your Precepts diligently.
5 Oh that my ways were directed to keep Your Statutes!
6 Then I would not be confounded, with respect to all Your Commandments.
7 I will praise You with an upright heart, when I shall learn the Judgments of Your righteousness.
8 I will keep Your Statutes. Do not forsake me utterly.
BETH
9 How shall a young man correct his way? By living according to Your Word.
10 With my whole heart I have sought You. Do not let me wander from Your Commandments.
11 I have treasured Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
12 Blessed are You, O LORD. Teach me Your Statutes.
13 With my lips I have declared all the Judgments of Your Mouth.
14 I have had as much delight in the way of Your Testimonies, as in all riches.
15 I will meditate on Your Precepts and consider Your ways.
16 I will delight in Your Statutes, and I will not forget Your Word.
GIMEL
17 Be beneficial to Your servant, that I may live and keep Your Word.
18 Open my eyes, that I may see the wonders of Your Law.
19 I am a stranger upon Earth. Do not hide Your Commandments from me.
20 My heart breaks for the desire of Your Judgments always.
21 You have rebuked the proud. Cursed are those who stray from Your Commandments.
22 Remove from me shame and contempt, for I have kept Your Testimonies.
23 Princes also sat and spoke against me, but Your servant meditated on Your Statutes.
24 Also Your Testimonies are my delight and my counselors.
DALETH
25 My soul clings to the dust, quicken me according to Your Word.
26 I have declared my ways, and You heard me. Teach me Your Statutes.
27 Make me to understand the way of Your Precepts, and I will meditate on Your wondrous works.
28 My soul melts for heaviness, raise me up according to Your Word.
29 Take from me the way of lying and grant me graciously Your Law.
30 I have chosen the way of truth and Your Judgments have I laid before me.
31 I have clung to Your Testimonies, O LORD, do not confound me.
32 I will run the way of Your Commandments, when You shall enlarge my heart.
HE
33 Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your Statutes, and I will keep it to the end.
34 Give me understanding and I will keep Your Law, yea, I will keep it with my whole heart.
35 Direct me in the path of Your Commandments, for therein is my delight.
36 Incline my heart to Your Testimonies, and not to covetousness.
37 Turn away my eyes from vanity and quicken me in Your way.
38 Establish Your Promise in Your servant, because he fears You.
39 Take away my rebuke, which I fear, for Your Judgments are good.
40 Behold, I desire Your Commandments, quicken me in Your righteousness.
VAU
41 And let Your lovingkindness come to me, O LORD, and Your salvation, according to Your Promise.
42 So shall I answer to my blasphemers, for I trust in Your Word.
43 And take not the Word of Truth utterly out of my mouth, for I await Your Judgments.
44 So shall I always keep Your Law forever and ever.
45 And I will walk in freedom, because I seek Your Precepts.
46 I will speak also of Your Testimonies before kings and will not be ashamed.
47 My delight will be in Your Commandments, which I have loved.
48 My hands, also, will I lift to Your Commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate on Your Statutes.
ZAIN
49 Remember the Promise made to Your servant, wherein You have caused me to trust.
50 It is my comfort in my trouble. Your Promise has quickened me.
51 The proud deride me exceedingly, yet have I not turned away from Your Law.
52 I remembered Your Judgments of old, O LORD, and have been comforted.
53 Burning indignation has come upon me because of the wicked, who forsake Your Law.
54 Your Statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.
55 I have remembered Your Name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept Your Law.
56 This is because I kept Your Precepts.
CHETH
57 O LORD, Who are my portion, I have determined to keep Your Words.
58 I made my supplication in Your presence with my whole heart. Be merciful to me according to Your Promise.
59 I have considered my ways and turned my feet to Your Testimonies.
60 I moved quickly and did not delay in keeping Your Commandments.
61 Bands of the wicked have robbed me, but I have not forgotten Your Law.
62 At midnight will I rise and give thanks to You because of Your righteous Judgments.
63 I am companion of all those who fear You and keep Your Precepts.
64 O LORD, the Earth is full of Your mercy, teach me Your Statutes.
TETH
65 O LORD, You have dealt graciously with Your servant, according to Your Word.
66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge, for I have believed Your Commandments.
67 Before I was afflicted, I went astray; but now I keep Your Word.
68 You are good and gracious; teach me Your Statutes.
69 The proud have imagined a lie against me, but I will keep Your Precepts with my whole heart.
70 Their heart is fat as grease; but my delight is in Your Law.
71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your Statutes.
72 The Law of Your Mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver.
JOD
73 Your Hands have made me and fashioned me. Give me understanding, therefore, that I may learn Your Commandments.
74 So those who fear You, seeing me, shall rejoice, because I have trusted in Your Word.
75 I know, O LORD, that Your Judgments are right, and that You have afflicted me justly.
76 I pray that Your mercy may comfort me, according to Your Promise to Your servant.
77 Let Your tender mercies come to me, that I may live. For Your Law is my delight.
78 Let the proud be ashamed, for they have dealt wickedly and falsely with me. But I meditate on Your Precepts.
79 Let those who fear You turn to me, and those who know Your Testimonies.
80 Let my heart be upright in Your Statutes, that I be not ashamed.
CAPH
81 My soul fainted for Your salvation, yet I wait for Your Word.
82 My eyes fail for Your Promise, saying, “When will You comfort me?”
83 For though I am like a wineskin in a smokehouse, even so I do not forget Your Statutes.
84 How many are the days of Your servant? When will You execute judgment on those who persecute me?
85 The proud have dug pits for me, which is not after Your Law.
86 All Your Commandments are true. They persecute me falsely. Help me.
87 They had almost consumed me upon the Earth, yet I do not forsake Your Precepts.
88 Quicken me according to Your lovingkindness. So shall I keep the Testimony of Your Mouth.
20 Let everyone remain in the same vocation to which he was called.
21 Are you called as a slave? Do not worry. But if you still may be free, rather use that.
22 For he who is called in the Lord as a slave is the Lord’s freeman. Likewise, he who is called in freedom, is Christ’s slave.
23 You are bought with a price. Do not become the slaves of man.
24 Brothers, let everyone, wherein he was called, remain therein with God.
25 Now concerning virgins, I have no Commandment of the Lord. But I give my advice, as one who has obtained mercy from the Lord to be faithful.
26 Because of this present constraint, I assume that it is good, and that it is good for anyone to be so.
27 Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be free. Are you free from a wife? Do not seek a wife.
28 But if you take a wife, you do not sin. And if a virgin marries, she does not sin. Nevertheless, such shall have trouble in the flesh. But I am sparing you.
29 And this I say, brothers, because the time is short: that from now on those who have wives should be as though they had none,
30 and those who weep as though they did not weep, and those who rejoice as though they did not rejoice, and those who buy as though they did not possess,
31 and those who use this world as though they do not abuse it. For the appearance of this world is passing away.
32 And I would have you without cares. The unmarried cares for things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord.
33 But he who is married cares for the things of the world, how he may please his wife.
34 Also, there is difference between a virgin and a wife. The unmarried woman cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy, both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
35 And this I speak for your own benefit. Not to tangle you in a snare, but that you may be respectable and serve the Lord without distraction.
36 But if any man thinks he is behaving less than optimally toward his virgin, if she has passed the flower of her age, and so requires, let him do what he will. He does not sin. Let her be married.
37 Nevertheless, he who stands firm in his heart, that he has no need, but has power over his own will, and has so decreed in his heart, that he will watch over his virgin, he does well.
38 So then, he who gives her to marriage, does well. But he who does not give her to marriage, does better.
39 The wife is bound by the law, as long as her husband lives. But if her husband is dead, she is free to marry whomever she wishes, only in the Lord.
40 But she is more blessed if she so remains, in my judgment. And I think that I also have the Spirit of God.
