52 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 53 “[u]Among these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names. 54 (AF)To the larger group you shall increase their inheritance, and to the smaller group you shall diminish their inheritance; each shall be given their inheritance according to those who were numbered of them. 55 But the land shall be (AG)divided by lot. They shall [v]receive their inheritance according to the names of the tribes of their fathers. 56 According to the selection by lot, their inheritance shall be divided between the larger and the smaller groups.”
57 (AH)And these are those who were numbered of the Levites according to their families:

59 And the name of Amram’s wife (AJ)was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt; and she bore to Amram: Aaron and Moses and their sister Miriam. 60 (AK)And to Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. 61 (AL)But Nadab and Abihu died when they offered strange fire before Yahweh. 62 And those who were numbered of them were (AM)23,000, every male from a month old and upward, for (AN)they were not numbered among the sons of Israel (AO)since no inheritance was given to them among the sons of Israel.
63 These are those who were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho. 64 (AP)But among these there was not a man of those who were numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest, who numbered the sons of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai. 65 For Yahweh had said [x]of them, “(AQ)They shall surely die in the wilderness.” And not a man was left of them, (AR)except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.
The Daughters of Zelophehad
27 Then (AS)the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph, came near; and these are (AT)the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah and Hoglah and Milcah and Tirzah. 2 And they stood before Moses and before Eleazar the priest and before the leaders and all the congregation, at the doorway of the tent of meeting, saying, 3 “Our father (AU)died in the wilderness, yet he was not among the congregation of those who gathered themselves together against Yahweh in the congregation of Korah; but he died in his own sin, and (AV)he had no sons. 4 Why should the name of our father be withdrawn from among his family because he had no son? Give us a possession among our father’s brothers.” 5 (AW)So Moses brought their case near before Yahweh.
6 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 7 “(AX)The daughters of Zelophehad are right in their statements. You shall surely give them a possession for an inheritance among their father’s brothers, and you shall have the inheritance of their father pass on to them. 8 Further, you shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies and has no son, then you shall have his inheritance pass on to his daughter. 9 And if he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers. 10 And if he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. 11 And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his blood relative in his own family, and he shall possess it; and it shall be a (AY)statutory judgment to the sons of Israel, just as Yahweh commanded Moses.’”
12 (AZ)Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Go up to this (BA)mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the sons of Israel. 13 So when you have seen it, you too (BB)will be gathered to your people, (BC)as Aaron your brother [y]was, 14 for in the wilderness of Zin, during the strife of the congregation, (BD)you rebelled against My [z]command [aa]to treat Me as holy before their eyes at the water.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)
Moses Commissions Joshua
15 Then Moses spoke to Yahweh, saying, 16 “(BE)May Yahweh, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation, 17 who (BF)will go out [ab]and come in before them, and who will lead them out and [ac]bring them in, so that the congregation of Yahweh will not be (BG)like sheep which have no shepherd.” 18 So Yahweh said to Moses, “[ad]Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man (BH)in whom is the Spirit, and (BI)lay your hand on him; 19 and have him stand before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and (BJ)commission him in their sight. 20 And you shall put some of your [ae]splendor on him, in order that all the congregation of the sons of Israel may obey him. 21 Moreover, he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him (BK)by the judgment of the Urim before Yahweh. At his [af]command they shall go out, and at his [ag]command they shall come in, both he and the sons of Israel with him, even all the congregation.” 22 So Moses did just as Yahweh commanded him; and he took Joshua and had him stand before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation. 23 Then he laid his hands on him and (BL)commissioned him, just as Yahweh had spoken by the hand of Moses.
Daily Offerings
28 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Command the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘You shall [ah]be careful to bring near My offering, My (BM)food for My offerings by fire, of a soothing aroma to Me, at their appointed time.’ 3 (BN)And you shall say to them, ‘This is the offering by fire which you shall bring near to Yahweh: two male lambs one year old without blemish as a continual burnt offering every day. 4 You shall offer the one lamb in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer [ai]at twilight, 5 also (BO)a tenth of an [aj]ephah of fine flour for a (BP)grain offering, mixed with a fourth of a [ak]hin of beaten oil. 6 It is a continual burnt offering which was ordained in Mount Sinai as a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to Yahweh. 7 Then the drink offering with it shall be a fourth of a hin for each lamb, (BQ)in the holy place you shall pour out a drink offering of strong drink to Yahweh. 8 And the other lamb you shall offer [al]at twilight; as the grain offering of the morning and as its drink offering, you shall offer it, an offering by fire, a soothing aroma to Yahweh.
Sabbath Offerings
9 ‘Then on the sabbath day two male lambs one year old without blemish, and two-tenths of an [am]ephah of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering, and its drink offering: 10 This is the burnt offering of every sabbath in addition to the (BR)continual burnt offering and its drink offering.
Monthly Offerings
11 ‘Then (BS)at the beginning of each of your months you shall bring near a burnt offering to Yahweh: two bulls from the herd and one ram, seven male lambs one year old without blemish; 12 (BT)and three-tenths of an [an]ephah of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, for each bull; and two-tenths of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, for the one ram; 13 and a tenth of an [ao]ephah of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering for each lamb, for a burnt offering of a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to Yahweh. 14 And their drink offerings shall be half a hin of wine for a bull and a third of a hin for the ram and a fourth of a hin for a lamb; this is the burnt offering of each month throughout the months of the year. 15 And one male goat for a sin offering to Yahweh; it shall be offered with its drink offering in addition to the (BU)continual burnt offering.
Passover Offerings
16 ‘(BV)Then on the fourteenth day of the first month shall be the Passover of Yahweh. 17 (BW)And on the fifteenth day of this month shall be a (BX)feast; unleavened bread shall be eaten for seven days. 18 On the (BY)first day shall be a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work. 19 And you shall bring near an offering by fire, a burnt offering to Yahweh: two bulls from the herd and one ram and seven male lambs one year old; (BZ)they shall be for you without blemish. 20 Now as for their grain offering, you shall offer fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an [ap]ephah for a bull and two-tenths for the ram. 21 A tenth of an [aq]ephah you shall offer for [ar]each of the seven lambs; 22 and one male goat for a (CA)sin offering to make atonement for you. 23 You shall offer these besides (CB)the burnt offering of the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering. 24 After this manner you shall offer daily, for seven days, (CC)the food of the offering by fire, of a soothing aroma to Yahweh; it shall be offered with its drink offering in addition to the (CD)continual burnt offering. 25 Now on the seventh day you shall have a holy convocation; (CE)you shall do no laborious work.
Offerings for the Feast of Weeks
26 ‘Also on (CF)the day of the first fruits, when you bring near a new grain offering to Yahweh in your Feast of Weeks, you shall have a holy convocation; (CG)you shall do no laborious work. 27 And you shall bring near a burnt offering for a soothing aroma to Yahweh: two bulls from the herd, one ram, seven male lambs one year old; 28 and their grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an [as]ephah for each bull, two-tenths for the one ram, 29 a tenth for [at]each of the seven lambs; 30 also one male goat to make atonement for you. 31 (CH)Besides the continual burnt offering and its grain offering, you shall offer them with their drink offerings. They shall be [au]without blemish.
Jesus Feeds Four Thousand
8 In those days, when there was again a large crowd and they had nothing to eat, (A)Jesus called His disciples and *said to them, 2 “(B)I feel compassion for the crowd because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat. 3 And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way; and some of them have come from a great distance.” 4 And His disciples answered Him, “Where will anyone be able to find enough [a]bread here in this desolate place to satisfy these people?” 5 And He was asking them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven.” 6 And He *directed the crowd to [b]sit down on the ground; and taking the seven loaves, He gave thanks and broke them. And He kept giving them to His disciples to [c]serve to them, and they served them to the crowd. 7 And they also had a few small fish; and (C)after He blessed them, He ordered these to be [d]served as well. 8 And they ate and were satisfied; and they picked up seven large (D)baskets full of what was left over of the broken pieces. 9 Now about four thousand were there, and He sent them away. 10 And immediately He entered the boat with His disciples and came to the district of (E)Dalmanutha.
11 (F)And the Pharisees came out and began to argue with Him, (G)seeking from Him [e]a sign from heaven, testing Him. 12 (H)And sighing deeply [f]in His spirit, He *said, “Why does this generation seek [g]a sign? Truly I say to you, [h](I)no [i]sign will be given to this generation.” 13 And leaving them, He again embarked and went away to the other side.
14 And they had forgotten to take bread, and did not have more than one loaf in the boat with them. 15 And He was giving orders to them, saying, “(J)Watch out! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of (K)Herod.” 16 And they began to discuss with one another the fact that they had no bread. 17 And Jesus, aware of this, *said to them, “Why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread? (L)Do you not yet perceive or understand? Do you have a hardened heart? 18 (M)Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember, 19 when I broke (N)the five loaves for the five thousand, how many (O)baskets full of broken pieces you picked up?” They *said to Him, “Twelve.” 20 “When I broke (P)the seven for the four thousand, how many large (Q)baskets full of broken pieces did you pick up?” And they *said to Him, “Seven.” 21 And He was saying to them, “(R)Do you not yet understand?”
22 And they *came to (S)Bethsaida. And they *brought a blind man to Jesus and *pleaded with Him to (T)touch him. 23 And taking the blind man by the hand, He (U)brought him out of the village; and after (V)spitting on his eyes and (W)laying His hands on him, He was asking him, “Do you see anything?” 24 And he [j]looked up and was saying, “I see men, for [k]I see them like trees, walking around.” 25 Then again He laid His hands on his eyes; and he looked intently and was restored, and began to see everything clearly. 26 And He sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter (X)the village.”
Peter Confesses Jesus Is the Christ
27 (Y)And Jesus went out, along with His disciples, to the villages of (Z)Caesarea Philippi; and on the way He was asking His disciples, saying to them, “Who do people say that I am?” 28 (AA)And they told Him, saying, “John the Baptist; and others say Elijah; but others, one of the prophets.” 29 And He continued asking them, “But who do you say that I am?” (AB)Peter *answered and *said to Him, “You are the [l]Christ.” 30 And (AC)He [m]warned them to tell no one about Him.
31 (AD)And He began to teach them that (AE)the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. 32 And He was stating the matter (AF)openly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. 33 But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and *said, “Get behind Me, (AG)Satan! For you are not setting your mind on [n]God’s interests, but man’s.”
Take Up Your Cross
34 And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to [o]come after Me, he must deny himself, and (AH)take up his cross and follow Me. 35 For (AI)whoever wishes to save his [p]life will lose it, but whoever loses his [q]life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36 For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? 37 For what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 For (AJ)whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, (AK)the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He (AL)comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
