Zechariah 9-12

The threatenings of the Gentiles. 9 The coming of Christ.

The burden of the word of the Lord in the land of [a]Hadrach: and Damascus shall be his [b]rest: when the [c]eyes of man, even of all the tribes of Israel shall be toward the Lord.

And Hamath also shall border [d]thereby: Tyre also and Sidon, though they be [e]very wise.

For Tyre did build herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and gold as the mire of the streets.

Behold, the Lord will spoil her, and he will smite her [f]power in the sea, and she shall be devoured with fire.

Ashkelon shall see it, and fear, and Gaza also shall be very sorrowful, and Ekron: for her countenance shall be ashamed, and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.

And the [g]stranger shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.

And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his [h]teeth: but he that remaineth, even he shall be for our God, and he shall be as a prince in Judah, but [i]Ekron shall be as a Jebusite.

And I will camp about [j]mine House against the army, against him that passeth by, and against him that returneth, and no oppressor shall come upon them anymore: for now [k]have I seen with mine eyes.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion: shout for joy, O daughter Jerusalem: behold, thy king cometh unto thee: [l]he is just, and saved himself, poor and riding upon an [m]ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

10 And I will cut off the [n]chariots from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem: the bow of the battle shall be broken, and he shall speak peace unto the heathen, and his dominion shall be from [o]sea unto sea, and from the [p]River to the end of the land.

11 [q]Thou also shall be saved through the blood of thy covenant. I have loosed thy [r]prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.

12 Turn you to the [s]stronghold, ye [t]prisoners of hope: even today do I declare, that I will render the [u]double unto thee.

13 For Judah have I bent as a [v]bow for me: Ephraim’s hand have I filled, and I have raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and have made thee as a giant’s sword.

14 And the Lord shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord God shall blow the trumpet, and shall come forth with the whirlwinds of the South.

15 The Lord of hosts shall defend them, and they shall devour them, [w]and subdue them with sling stones, and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine, and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the horns of the Altar.

16 And the Lord their God shall deliver them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the [x]stones of the crown lifted up upon his land.

17 For how great is his goodness! and how great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.

10 1 The vanity of Idolatry. 3 The Lord promiseth to visit and comfort the house of Israel.

Ask you of the [y]Lord rain in the time of the latter rain: so shall the Lord make white clouds, and give you showers of rain, and to everyone grass in the field.

Surely the [z]idols have spoken vanity, and the soothsayers have seen a lie, and the dreamers have told a vain thing: they comfort in vain: therefore [aa]they went away as sheep: they were troubled, because there was no shepherd.

My wrath was kindled against the shepherds, and I did visit the [ab]goats: but the Lord of hosts will visit his flock the house of Judah, and will make them as [ac]his beautiful horse in the battle.

Out [ad]of him shall the corner come forth: out of him the nail, out of him ye bow of battle, and out of him every [ae]appointer of tribute also.

And they shall be as the mighty men, which tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle, and they shall fight, because the Lord is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.

And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will preserve the [af]house of Joseph, and I will bring them again, for I pity them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them.

And they of Ephraim shall be as a giant: and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see it, and be glad: and their heart shall rejoice in the Lord.

I will [ag]hiss for them: and gather them: for I have redeemed them: and they shall increase, as they have increased.

And I will [ah]sow them among the people, and they shall remember me in far countries: and they shall live with their children and [ai]turn again.

10 I will bring them again also out of the land of Egypt, and gather them out of Assyria: and I will bring them into the land of Gilead, and Lebanon, and place shall not be found for them.

11 And he [aj]shall go into the sea with affliction, and shall smite the waves in the sea, and all the depths of the river shall dry up: and the pride of Assyria shall be cast down, and the scepter of Egypt shall depart away.

12 And I will strengthen them in the Lord, and they shall walk in his Name, saith the Lord.

11 The destruction of the Temple. 4 The care of the faithful is committed to Christ. 7 A grievous vision against Jerusalem and Judah.

Open thy doors, O [ak]Lebanon, and the fire shall devour thy cedars.

Howl, [al]fir trees: for the cedar is fallen, because all the mighty are destroyed: howl ye, O oaks of Bashan, for the [am]defenced forest is cut down.

There is the voice of the howling of the shepherds: for their [an]glory is destroyed: the voice of the roaring of lion’s whelps: for the pride of Jordan is destroyed.

Thus saith the Lord my God, Feed the sheep of the [ao]slaughter.

They that possess them, slay them [ap]and sin not: and they that sell them, say, [aq]Blessed be the Lord: for I am rich, and their own shepherds spare them not.

Surely I will no more spare those that dwell in the land, saith the Lord: but lo, [ar]I will deliver the men every one into his neighbor’s hand, and into the hand of his [as]king: and they shall smite the land, and out of their hands I will not deliver them.

For I fed the sheep of slaughter, even the [at]poor of the flock, and I took unto me [au]two staves: the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands, and I fed the sheep.

[av]Three shepherds also I cut off in one month, and my soul loathed [aw]them, and their soul abhorred me.

Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die: and that that perisheth, let it perish: and let the remnant eat, everyone the flesh of his neighbor.

10 And I took my staff, even Beauty, and brake it, that I might disannul my covenant, which I had made with all people.

11 And it was broken in that day: and so the [ax]poor of the sheep that waited upon me, knew that it was the word of the Lord.

12 And I said unto them, If ye think it good, give me [ay]my wages: and if no, leave off: so they weighed for my wages thirty pieces of silver.

13 And the Lord said unto me, Cast it unto the [az]potter: a goodly price, that I was valued at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the Lord.

14 Then brake I mine other staff: even the Bands, that I might dissolve the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

15 And the Lord said unto me, Take to thee yet [ba]the instruments of a foolish shepherd.

16 For lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not look for the thing that is lost, nor seek the tender lambs, nor heal that that is hurt, nor feed that that [bb]standeth up, but he shall eat flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces.

17 O idol shepherd that leaveth the flock: the sword shall be upon his [bc]arm, and upon his right eye. His arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.

12 Of the destruction and building again of Jerusalem.

The burden of the word of the Lord upon [bd]Israel, saith the Lord, which spread the heavens, and laid the foundation of the earth, and formed the spirit of man within him.

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a[be]cup of poison unto all the people round about: and also with Judah will he be in the siege against Jerusalem.

And in that day will I make Jerusalem an heavy stone for all people: all that lift it up, shall be torn, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

In that day, saith the Lord, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness, and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.

And the princes of Judah shall say in their hearts, The [bf]inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the Lord of hosts their God.

In that day will I make the princes of Judah like coals of fire among the wood, and like a firebrand in the sheaf, and they shall devour all the people round about on the right hand, and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem.

The Lord also shall preserve the [bg]tents of Judah, as afore time: therefore the glory of the house of David shall not boast, nor the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem against Judah.

In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and he that is feeble among them, in that day shall be as David: and the house of David shall be as God’s house, and as the Angel of the Lord before them.

And in that day will I seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of [bh]grace and of compassion, and they shall look upon me, whom they have [bi]pierced, and they shall lament for [bj]him, as one mourneth for his only son, and be sorry for him as one is sorry for his firstborn.

11 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the [bk]mourning of [bl]Hadad Rimmon in the valley of Megiddo.

12 And the [bm]land shall bewail every family [bn]apart, the family of the [bo]house of David apart, and their wives apart: the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart:

13 The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart: the family of [bp]Shemei apart, and their wives apart:

14 All the families that [bq]remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.

Revelation 20

20 1 The Angel 2 bindeth Satan for a thousand years. 8 Being loosed, he stirreth up Gog and Magog, that is, privy and open enemies against the Saints, 11 but the vengeance of the Lord cutting off their insolency. 12 The books are opened, by which the dead are judged.

And [a]I saw an Angel come down from heaven, having the key [b]of the bottomless pit, and a great chain in his hand.

And he took the dragon that old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, and he bound him [c]a thousand years:

And cast him into the bottomless pit, and he shut him up, and sealed the door upon him, that he should deceive the people [d]no more till the thousand years were fulfilled: for after that he must be loosed for [e]a little season.

[f]And I saw [g][h]seats: and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them, and I saw the souls of them that were [i]beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which [j]did not worship the beast, neither his image, neither had taken his mark upon their foreheads or on their hands: and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

[k]But the rest of the dead men [l]shall not live again, until the thousand years be finished: this is the first resurrection.

Blessed and holy is he, that hath part in the first resurrection: for on such the [m]second death hath no power: but they shall be the Priests of God and of Christ, [n]and shall reign with him a thousand years.

[o]And when the [p]thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

[q]And shall go out to deceive the people, which are in the four quarters of the earth: even (A)Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the Sea.

And they went up into the [r]plain of the earth, and they compassed the tents of the Saints about, and the beloved city: but [s]fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

10 [t]And the devil that deceived them, was cast into a lake of fire and brimstone, where that beast and that false prophet are, and shall be tormented even day and night for evermore.

11 [u]And I saw a great [v]white throne, and one that sat on it, [w]from whose face fled away both the earth and heaven, and their place was no more found.

12 And I saw the dead, both great and small stand before [x]God: and the [y]books were opened, and (B)another book was opened, which is the book [z]of life, and the dead were judged of those things, which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 [aa]And the sea gave up her dead, which were in her, and death and hell delivered up the dead, which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 [ab]And death, and hell were cast into the lake of fire: this is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the lake of fire.
