Psalm 119:89-176

ל LAMED

89 (A)Forever, O Lord,
Your word [a]is settled in heaven.
90 Your faithfulness endures to all generations;
You established the earth, and it [b]abides.
91 They continue this day according to (B)Your ordinances,
For all are Your servants.
92 Unless Your law had been my delight,
I would then have perished in my affliction.
93 I will never forget Your precepts,
For by them You have given me life.
94 I am Yours, save me;
For I have sought Your precepts.
95 The wicked wait for me to destroy me,
But I will [c]consider Your testimonies.
96 (C)I have seen the consummation of all perfection,
But Your commandment is exceedingly broad.

מ MEM

97 Oh, how I love Your law!
(D)It is my meditation all the day.
98 You, through Your commandments, make me (E)wiser than my enemies;
For they are ever with me.
99 I have more understanding than all my teachers,
(F)For Your testimonies are my meditation.
100 (G)I understand more than the [d]ancients,
Because I keep Your precepts.
101 I have restrained my feet from every evil way,
That I may keep Your word.
102 I have not departed from Your judgments,
For You Yourself have taught me.
103 (H)How sweet are Your words to my taste,
Sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 Through Your precepts I get understanding;
Therefore I hate every false way.

נ NUN

105 (I)Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
106 (J)I have sworn and confirmed
That I will keep Your righteous judgments.
107 I am afflicted very much;
Revive me, O Lord, according to Your word.
108 Accept, I pray, (K)the freewill offerings of my mouth, O Lord,
And teach me Your judgments.
109 (L)My life is continually [e]in my hand,
Yet I do not forget Your law.
110 (M)The wicked have laid a snare for me,
Yet I have not strayed from Your precepts.
111 (N)Your testimonies I have taken as a [f]heritage forever,
For they are the rejoicing of my heart.
112 I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes
Forever, to the very end.

ס SAMEK

113 I hate the [g]double-minded,
But I love Your law.
114 (O)You are my hiding place and my shield;
I hope in Your word.
115 (P)Depart from me, you evildoers,
For I will keep the commandments of my God!
116 Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live;
And do not let me (Q)be ashamed of my hope.
117 [h]Hold me up, and I shall be safe,
And I shall observe Your statutes continually.
118 You reject all those who stray from Your statutes,
For their deceit is falsehood.
119 You [i]put away all the wicked of the earth (R)like [j]dross;
Therefore I love Your testimonies.
120 (S)My flesh trembles for fear of You,
And I am afraid of Your judgments.

ע AYIN

121 I have done justice and righteousness;
Do not leave me to my oppressors.
122 Be (T)surety[k] for Your servant for good;
Do not let the proud oppress me.
123 My eyes fail from seeking Your salvation
And Your righteous word.
124 Deal with Your servant according to Your mercy,
And teach me Your statutes.
125 (U)I am Your servant;
Give me understanding,
That I may know Your testimonies.
126 It is time for You to act, O Lord,
For they have [l]regarded Your law as void.
127 (V)Therefore I love Your commandments
More than gold, yes, than fine gold!
128 Therefore all Your precepts concerning all things
I consider to be right;
I hate every false way.

פ PE

129 Your testimonies are wonderful;
Therefore my soul keeps them.
130 The entrance of Your words gives light;
(W)It gives understanding to the (X)simple.
131 I opened my mouth and (Y)panted,
For I longed for Your commandments.
132 (Z)Look upon me and be merciful to me,
(AA)As Your custom is toward those who love Your name.
133 (AB)Direct my steps by Your word,
And (AC)let no iniquity have dominion over me.
134 (AD)Redeem me from the oppression of man,
That I may keep Your precepts.
135 (AE)Make Your face shine upon Your servant,
And teach me Your statutes.
136 (AF)Rivers of water run down from my eyes,
Because men do not keep Your law.

צ TSADDE

137 (AG)Righteous are You, O Lord,
And upright are Your judgments.
138 (AH)Your testimonies, which You have commanded,
Are righteous and very faithful.
139 (AI)My zeal has [m]consumed me,
Because my enemies have forgotten Your words.
140 (AJ)Your word is very [n]pure;
Therefore Your servant loves it.
141 I am small and despised,
Yet I do not forget Your precepts.
142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,
And Your law is (AK)truth.
143 Trouble and anguish have [o]overtaken me,
Yet Your commandments are my delights.
144 The righteousness of Your testimonies is everlasting;
Give me understanding, and I shall live.

Save me, and I will keep Your testimonies.
147 (AL)I rise before the dawning of the morning,
And cry for help;
I hope in Your word.
148 (AM)My eyes are awake through the night watches,
That I may meditate on Your word.
149 Hear my voice according to Your lovingkindness;
O Lord, revive me according to Your justice.
150 They draw near who follow after wickedness;
They are far from Your law.
151 You are (AN)near, O Lord,
And all Your commandments are truth.
152 Concerning Your testimonies,
I have known of old that You have founded them (AO)forever.

153 (AP)Consider my affliction and deliver me,
For I do not forget Your law.
154 (AQ)Plead my cause and redeem me;
Revive me according to Your word.

For they do not seek Your statutes.
156 [p]Great are Your tender mercies, O Lord;
Revive me according to Your judgments.
157 Many are my persecutors and my enemies,
Yet I do not (AR)turn from Your testimonies.
158 I see the treacherous, and (AS)am disgusted,
Because they do not keep Your word.

Revive me, O Lord, according to Your lovingkindness.
160 The entirety of Your word is truth,
And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.

Seek Your servant,
For I do not forget Your commandments.

1 Corinthians 8

Be Sensitive to Conscience

Now (A)concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have (B)knowledge. (C)Knowledge [a]puffs up, but love [b]edifies. And (D)if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.

Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that (E)an idol is nothing in the world, (F)and that there is no other God but one. For even if there are (G)so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), yet (H)for us there is one God, the Father, (I)of whom are all things, and we for Him; and (J)one Lord Jesus Christ, (K)through whom are all things, and (L)through whom we live.

However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some, (M)with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is (N)defiled. But (O)food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse.

But (P)beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become (Q)a [c]stumbling block to those who are weak. 10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol’s temple, will not (R)the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols? 11 And (S)because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 12 But (T)when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, (U)if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.
