Old/New Testament
All Men Exhorted to Praise God.
A Psalm for [a]Thanksgiving.
100 (A)Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
2 (B)Serve the Lord with gladness;
(C)Come before Him with joyful singing.
3 Know that (D)the Lord [b]Himself is God;
It is He who has (E)made us, and [c]not we ourselves;
We are (F)His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter His gates (G)with [d]thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, (H)bless His name.
5 For (I)the Lord is good;
(J)His lovingkindness is everlasting
And His (K)faithfulness to all generations.
The Psalmist’s Profession of Uprightness.
A Psalm of David.
101 I will (L)sing of lovingkindness and [e]justice,
To You, O Lord, I will sing praises.
2 I will [f](M)give heed to the [g]blameless way.
When will You come to me?
I will walk within my house in the [h](N)integrity of my heart.
3 I will set no (O)worthless thing before my eyes;
I hate the [i]work of those who (P)fall away;
It shall not fasten its grip on me.
4 A (Q)perverse heart shall depart from me;
I will know no evil.
5 Whoever secretly (R)slanders his neighbor, him I will [j]destroy;
No one who has a (S)haughty look and an arrogant heart will I endure.
6 My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me;
He who walks in a [k](T)blameless way is the one who will minister to me.
7 He who (U)practices deceit shall not dwell within my house;
He who speaks falsehood (V)shall not [l]maintain his position before me.
8 (W)Every morning I will [m](X)destroy all the wicked of the land,
So as to (Y)cut off from the (Z)city of the Lord all those who do iniquity.
Prayer of an Afflicted Man for Mercy on Himself and on Zion.
A Prayer of the Afflicted when he is faint and [n]pours out his complaint before the Lord.
102 (AA)Hear my prayer, O Lord!
And let my cry for help (AB)come to You.
2 (AC)Do not hide Your face from me in the day of my distress;
(AD)Incline Your ear to me;
In the day when I call (AE)answer me quickly.
3 For my days (AF)have been [o]consumed in smoke,
And my (AG)bones have been scorched like a hearth.
4 My heart (AH)has been smitten like [p]grass and has (AI)withered away,
Indeed, I (AJ)forget to eat my bread.
5 Because of the [q]loudness of my groaning
My (AK)bones [r]cling to my flesh.
6 I [s]resemble a (AL)pelican of the wilderness;
I have become like an owl of the waste places.
7 I (AM)lie awake,
I have become like a lonely bird on a housetop.
8 My enemies (AN)have reproached me all day long;
Those who [t](AO)deride me [u]have used my name as a (AP)curse.
9 For I have eaten ashes like bread
And (AQ)mingled my drink with weeping
10 (AR)Because of Your indignation and Your wrath,
For You have (AS)lifted me up and cast me away.
11 My days are like a [v](AT)lengthened shadow,
And [w]I (AU)wither away like [x]grass.
12 But You, O Lord, [y](AV)abide forever,
And Your [z](AW)name to all generations.
13 You will (AX)arise and have (AY)compassion on Zion;
For (AZ)it is time to be gracious to her,
For the (BA)appointed time has come.
14 Surely Your servants [aa]find pleasure in her stones
And feel pity for her dust.
15 [ab]So the [ac](BB)nations will fear the name of the Lord
And (BC)all the kings of the earth Your glory.
16 For the Lord has (BD)built up Zion;
He has (BE)appeared in His glory.
17 He has (BF)regarded the prayer of the [ad]destitute
And has not despised their prayer.
18 [ae]This will be (BG)written for the (BH)generation to come,
[af]That (BI)a people yet to be created [ag]may praise [ah]the Lord.
19 For He (BJ)looked down from His holy height;
(BK)From heaven the Lord gazed [ai]upon the earth,
20 To hear the (BL)groaning of the prisoner,
To (BM)set free [aj]those who were doomed to death,
21 That men may (BN)tell of the name of the Lord in Zion
And His praise in Jerusalem,
22 When (BO)the peoples are gathered together,
And the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.
23 He has weakened my strength in the way;
He has (BP)shortened my days.
24 I say, “O my God, (BQ)do not take me away in the [ak]midst of my days,
Your (BR)years are throughout all generations.
25 “Of old You (BS)founded the earth,
And the (BT)heavens are the work of Your hands.
26 “[al]Even they will (BU)perish, but You endure;
And all of them will wear out like a garment;
Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed.
27 “But You are [am](BV)the same,
And Your years will not come to an end.
28 “The (BW)children of Your servants will continue,
And their [an](BX)descendants will be established before You.”
Appeal to Unity
1 Paul, (A)called as an apostle of Jesus Christ [a]by (B)the will of God, and (C)Sosthenes our (D)brother,
2 To (E)the church of God which is at (F)Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, [b]saints (G)by calling, with all who in every place (H)call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:
3 (I)Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 (J)I thank [c]my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus, 5 that in everything you were (K)enriched in Him, in all (L)speech and (M)all knowledge, 6 even as (N)the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed [d]in you, 7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, (O)awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, 8 (P)who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in (Q)the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 (R)God is faithful, through whom you were (S)called into (T)fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 Now (U)I exhort you, (V)brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all [e]agree and that there be no [f](W)divisions among you, but that you be [g]made complete in (X)the same mind and in the same judgment. 11 For I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by Chloe’s people, that there are quarrels among you. 12 Now I mean this, that (Y)each one of you is saying, “I am of Paul,” and “I of (Z)Apollos,” and “I of (AA)Cephas,” and “I of Christ.” 13 [h]Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you (AB)baptized [i]in the name of Paul? 14 [j]I thank God that I (AC)baptized none of you except (AD)Crispus and (AE)Gaius, 15 so that no one would say you were baptized [k]in my name. 16 Now I did baptize also the (AF)household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any other. 17 (AG)For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, (AH)not in [l]cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void.
The Wisdom of God
18 For the word of the cross is (AI)foolishness to (AJ)those who [m]are perishing, but to us who [n]are being saved it is (AK)the power of God. 19 For it is written,
“(AL)I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.”
20 (AM)Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of (AN)this age? Has not God (AO)made foolish the wisdom of (AP)the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God (AQ)the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, (AR)God was well-pleased through the (AS)foolishness of the [o]message preached to (AT)save those who believe. 22 For indeed (AU)Jews ask for [p]signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23 but we preach [q](AV)Christ crucified, (AW)to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles (AX)foolishness, 24 but to those who are (AY)the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ (AZ)the power of God and (BA)the wisdom of God. 25 Because the (BB)foolishness of God is wiser than men, and (BC)the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For [r]consider your (BD)calling, brethren, that there were (BE)not many wise according to [s]the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27 but (BF)God has chosen the foolish things of (BG)the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of (BH)the world to shame the things which are strong, 28 and the base things of (BI)the world and the despised God has chosen, (BJ)the things that are not, so that He may (BK)nullify the things that are, 29 so that (BL)no [t]man may boast before God. 30 But [u]by His doing you are in (BM)Christ Jesus, who became to us (BN)wisdom from God, [v]and (BO)righteousness and (BP)sanctification, and (BQ)redemption, 31 so that, just as it is written, “(BR)Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
