GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
Version
Psalm 110-112

A psalm by David.

110 The Lord said to my Lord,
“Take the honored position—the one next to me [God the Father] on the heavenly throne
until I put your enemies under your control.”[a]

The Lord will extend your powerful scepter from Zion.
Rule your enemies who surround you.

Your people will volunteer when you call up your army.
Your young people will come to you in holy splendor
like dew in the early morning.[b]

The Lord has taken an oath and will not change his mind:
“You are a priest forever, in the way Melchizedek was a priest.”

The Lord is at your right side.
He will crush kings on the day of his anger.
He will pass judgment on the nations
and fill them with dead bodies.
Throughout the earth he will crush ⌞their⌟ heads.
He will drink from the brook along the road.
He will hold his head high.

111 Hallelujah!

I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart
in the company of decent people and in the congregation.
The Lord’s deeds are spectacular.
They should be studied by all who enjoy them.
His work is glorious and majestic.
His righteousness continues forever.
He has made his miracles unforgettable.
The Lord is merciful and compassionate.
He provides food for those who fear him.
He always remembers his promise.[c]
He has revealed the power of his works to his people
by giving them the lands of other nations as an inheritance.
His works are done with truth and justice.
All his guiding principles are trustworthy.
They last forever and ever.
They are carried out with truth and decency.
He has sent salvation to his people.
He has ordered that his promise should continue forever.
His name is holy and terrifying.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
Good sense is shown by everyone who follows ⌞God’s guiding principles⌟.
His praise continues forever.

112 Hallelujah!

Blessed is the person who fears the Lord
and is happy to obey his commands.
His descendants will grow strong on the earth.
The family of a decent person will be blessed.
Wealth and riches will be in his home.
His righteousness continues forever.
Light will shine in the dark for a decent person.
He is merciful, compassionate, and fair.

All goes well for the person who is generous and lends willingly.
He earns an honest living.
He will never fail.
A righteous person will always be remembered.
He is not afraid of bad news.
His heart remains secure, full of confidence in the Lord.
His heart is steady, and he is not afraid.
In the end he will look triumphantly at his enemies.
He gives freely to poor people.
His righteousness continues forever.
His head is raised in honor.
10 The wicked person sees this and becomes angry.
He angrily grits his teeth and disappears.
The hope that wicked people have will vanish.

1 Corinthians 5

How to Treat Christians Who Live Like Non-Christians

Your own members are aware that there is sexual sin going on among them. This kind of sin is not even heard of among unbelievers—a man is actually married to his father’s wife. You’re being arrogant when you should have been more upset about this. If you had been upset, the man who did this would have been removed from among you. Although I’m not physically present with you, I am with you in spirit. I have already judged the man who did this as though I were present with you. When you have gathered together, I am with you in spirit. Then, in the name of our Lord Jesus, and with his power, hand such a person over to Satan to destroy his corrupt nature so that his spiritual nature may be saved on the day of the Lord.

It’s not good for you to brag. Don’t you know that a little yeast spreads through the whole batch of dough? Remove the old yeast ⌞of sin⌟ so that you may be a new batch of dough, since you don’t actually have the yeast ⌞of sin⌟.

Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. So we must not celebrate our festival with the old yeast ⌞of sin⌟ or with the yeast of vice and wickedness. Instead, we must celebrate it with the bread of purity and truth that has no yeast.

In my letter to you I told you not to associate with people who continue to commit sexual sins. 10 I didn’t tell you that you could not have any contact with unbelievers who commit sexual sins, are greedy, are dishonest, or worship false gods. If that were the case, you would have to leave this world. 11 Now, what I meant was that you should not associate with people who call themselves brothers or sisters in the Christian faith but live in sexual sin, are greedy, worship false gods, use abusive language, get drunk, or are dishonest. Don’t eat with such people.

12 After all, do I have any business judging those who are outside ⌞the Christian faith⌟? Isn’t it your business to judge those who are inside? 13 God will judge those who are outside. Remove that wicked man from among you.
