Old/New Testament
5 “O you priests, hear this! And listen, O House of Israel! And give ear, O House of the king! For judgment is toward you, because you have been a snare on Mizpah and a net spread upon Tabor!
2 “And the rebels are deep in the slaughter, though I have been a Rebuker of them all.
3 “I know Ephraim. And Israel is not hidden from Me. For now, O Ephraim, you have become a harlot. Israel is defiled!”
4 They will not give their minds to turn to their God. For the spirit of fornication is in the midst of them. And they have not known the LORD.
5 And the pride of Israel testifies to His Face. Therefore, Israel and Ephraim shall fall in their iniquity. Judah shall also fall with them.
6 They shall go with their sheep, and with their bullocks, to seek the LORD. But they shall not find Him. He has withdrawn Himself from them.
7 They have transgressed against the LORD. For they have begotten strange children. Now, a month shall devour them with their portions.
8 “Blow the trumpet in Gibeah, the shame in Ramah! Cry out at Beth Aven, ‘Behind you, O Benjamin!’
9 “Ephraim shall be desolate on the day of rebuke! I have caused the truth to be known among the tribes of Israel.
10 “The princes of Judah were like those who remove a boundary. I will pour out My wrath upon them like water.
11 “Ephraim is oppressed, broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after man’s commandment.
12 “Therefore, I will be to Ephraim as a moth, and to the House of Judah as rottenness.
13 “When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria and sent to King Jareb. Yet, he could not heal you or cure you of your wound.
14 “For I will be to Ephraim as a lion, and as a lion’s whelp to the House of Judah. I, even I, will tear and go away. I will take away and no one shall rescue it.
15 “I will go and return to My place, until they acknowledge their fault and seek Me in their affliction. They will seek me diligently.”
6 Come and let us return to the LORD. For He has torn and He will heal us. He has wounded us and He will bind us up.
2 After two days, He will revive us. On the third day, He will raise us up and we shall live in His sight.
3 Then we shall have knowledge and endeavor to know the LORD. His going forth is prepared as the morning. And He shall come to us as the rain, as the latter rain, to the earth.
4 “O Ephraim, what shall I do with you? O Judah, how shall I entreat you? For your goodness is as a morning cloud. And as the morning dew it goes away.
5 “Therefore, I have cut them down by the Prophets. I have killed them by the Words of My Mouth. And the judgments of you were as the light that goes forth.
6 “For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than Burnt Offerings.
7 “But they, like men, have transgressed the Covenant. There they have trespassed against Me.
8 “Gilead is a city of those who work iniquity, polluted with blood.
9 “And as the thieves wait for a man, the company of priests murder on the way by consent. For they work mischief.
10 “I have seen villainy in the House of Israel. The whoredom of Ephraim is there. Israel is defiled.
11 “Indeed, Judah, a harvest is set for you when I shall return My people from captivity.”
7 “When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria. For they have dealt falsely. And the thief comes in and the robber plunders outside.
2 “And they do not consider in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness. Now their own inventions have surrounded them. They are in My sight.
3 “They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.
4 “They are all adulterers, like bakers who cease to heat an oven after kneading the dough, until it is leavened.
5 “In the day of the king, the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine. He stretches out his hand to scorners.
6 “For they have made ready their heart like an oven while they lie in wait. Their baker sleeps all night. In the morning it burns as a flame of fire.
7 “They are all as hot as an oven and have devoured their judges. All their kings have fallen. There is no one among them who calls to Me.
8 “Ephraim has mixed himself among the people. Ephraim is as an unturned cake on the hearth.
9 “Strangers have devoured his strength and he does not know it. Yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he does not know.
10 “And the pride of Israel testifies to his face. And they do not return to the LORD their God or seek Him for all this.
11 “Also, Ephraim is like a dove, deceived, without heart. They call to Egypt. They go to Assyria.
12 “When they shall go, I will spread My net upon them and draw them down as the birds of the heaven. I will chastise them, as their Congregation has heard.
13 “Woe to them! For they have fled away from Me. Destruction to them, because they have transgressed against Me. Though I have redeemed them, they have still spoken lies against Me.
14 “And they have not cried to Me with their hearts when they howled upon their beds. They assembled themselves for grain and wine. They rebel against Me.
15 “Though I have bound and strengthened their arm, they still imagine mischief against Me.
16 “They return, but not to the Most High. They are like a deceitful bow. Their princes shall fall by the sword because of the rage of their tongues. This shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.”
8 “Set the trumpet to your mouth! He shall come as an eagle against the House of the LORD, because they have transgressed My Covenant and trespassed against My Law.
2 “Israel shall cry to Me, ‘My God, we know You!’
3 “Israel has cast off the thing that is good. The enemy shall pursue him.
4 “They have set up a king, but not by Me. They have made princes, and I did not know it. They have made themselves idols from their silver and their gold. Therefore, they shall be destroyed.
5 “Your calf, O Samaria, has cast you off. My anger is kindled against them. How long will they be without innocence!
6 “For it came from Israel. The workman made it. Therefore, it is not God. But the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
7 “For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. It has no stalk. The bud shall bring forth no meal. If it is brought forth, the strangers shall devour it.
8 “Israel is devoured! They shall now be among the Gentiles, as a vessel in which there is no pleasure.
9 “For they have gone up to Assyria, a wild donkey, alone by himself. Ephraim has hired lovers.
10 “Yet, although they have hired among the nations, I will now gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king and the princes.
11 “Because Ephraim has made many altars for sin, his altars shall be for sin.
12 “I have written the great things of My Law for them, but they were counted as a strange thing.
13 “They sacrifice flesh for the Sacrifices of My Offerings and eat it. The LORD does not accept them. Now He will remember their iniquity and visit their sins. They shall return to Egypt.
14 “For Israel has forgotten his maker and builds temples. And Judah has increased strong cities. But I will send a fire upon his cities. And it shall devour its palaces.”
2 “To the angel of the Church of Ephesus, write these things:” says He Who holds the seven stars in His right hand and walks in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks.
2 “I know your works, and your labor, and your patience. And how you cannot bear with those who are evil; and have examined those who say they are Apostles and are not and have found them liars.
3 “And you were burdened and had patience; and for my Name’s sake have labored and have not fainted.
4 “Nevertheless, I have somewhat against you, because you have left your first love.
5 “Remember therefore from where you have fallen. And repent and do the works you did at first. Or else I will come against you shortly and will remove your candlestick out of its place unless you repent.
6 “But this you have: that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7 “Let him who has an ear, hear what the Spirit says to the Churches, ‘To him who overcomes will I give to eat of the Tree of Life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.’
8 “And to the angel of the Church of the Smyrnians write: ‘These things says He who is first and last, Who was dead and is alive:
9 “I know your works and tribulation and poverty. But you are rich. And I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews and are not but are the synagogue of Satan.
10 “Fear none of those things which you shall suffer. Behold, it shall come to pass that the devil shall cast some of you into prison, so that you may be tried. And you shall have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful to the death, and I will give you the crown of life.’
11 “Let he who has an ear, hear what the Spirit says to the Churches. He that overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.
12 “And to the angel of the Church which is at Pergamos write: ‘Thus says He Who has that sharp sword with two edges,
13 ‘I know your works, and where you dwell, even where Satan’s throne is. And you keep My Name, and have not denied My faith; even in those days when Antipas, My faithful martyr, was slain among you where Satan dwells.
14 “But I have a few things against you because you have those there who maintain the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel so that they would eat of things sacrificed to idols and commit fornication.
15 Even so, you have those who maintain the doctrine of the Nicolaitans (which I hate).
16 Repent, or else I will come to you shortly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.
17 “Let he who has an ear, hear what the Spirit says to the Churches. To him who overcomes, I will give to eat of the manna that is hidden; and will give him a white stone; and in the stone a new name written, which no one knows except he who receives it.
18 “And to the angel of the Church which is at Thyatira write: ‘These things says the Son of God, Who has eyes like a flame of fire, and feet like fine brass.
19 ‘I know your works and your love, and service and faith, and your patience; and that the works of those at the last are more than those at the first.
20 ‘Notwithstanding, I have a few things against you: that you put up with the woman, Jezebel. She calls herself a prophetess; to teach and to deceive my servants, to make them commit fornication, and to eat meat sacrificed to idols.
21 ‘And I gave her space to repent of her fornication, and she did not repent.
22 ‘Behold, I will cast her into a bed - and those who commit fornication with her into great affliction - unless they repent of their works.
23 ‘And I will kill her children with death. And all the Churches shall know that I am He who searches the deepest motives and hearts. And I will give to every one of you according to your works.
24 ‘And to you I say, ‘The rest of them of Thyatira, as many as have not received this learning, nor have known the deepness of Satan (as they speak), I will put upon you no other burden.
25 But to that which you have already, hold fast till I come.
26 ‘For he who overcomes and keeps My words to the end, to him I will give power over nations.
27 ‘And he shall rule them with a rod of iron. And as the vessels of a potter, shall they be broken.
28 ‘Even as I received from My Father, so will I give him the Morning Star.
29 ‘Let he who has an ear, hear what the Spirit says to the Churches.’”
