10 1 The gift of healing given to the Apostles. 5 They are sent to preach the Gospel. 13 Peace. 14 Shaking off the dust. 18 Affliction. 22 Continuance unto the end. 23 Fleeing from persecution. 28 Fear. 29 Two sparrows. 30 Hairs of our head. 32 To acknowledge Christ. 34 Peace and the sword. 35 Variance. 37 Love of parents. 38 The cross. 39 To lose the life. 40 To receive a Preacher.

And (A)[a]he called his twelve disciples unto him, and gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every sickness, and every disease.

Now the names of the twelve Apostles are these. The [b]first is Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother,

Philip and Bartholomew: Thomas, and Matthew that Publican: James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus whose surname was Thaddaeus:

Simon the Canaanite, and Judas [c]Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

These twelve did Jesus send forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into the cities of the Samaritans enter ye not:

But go rather (B)to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

(C)[d]And as ye go preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

[e]Heal the sick: cleanse the lepers: raise up the dead: cast out the devils. Freely ye have received, freely give.

(D)[f]Possess [g]not gold, nor silver, nor money in your girdles,

10 Nor a scrip for the journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor a staff: (E)for the workman is worthy of his [h]meat.

11 [i]And into (F)whatsoever city or town ye shall come, inquire who is worthy in it, and there abide till ye go thence.

12 And when ye come into an house, salute the same.

13 And if the house be worthy, let your [j]peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

14 (G)And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house, or that city, (H)shake off the dust of your feet.

15 Truly I say unto you, it shall be easier for them of the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.

16 (I)[k]Behold, I send you as [l]sheep in the midst of the wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and [m]innocent as doves.

17 But beware of [n]men, for they will deliver you up to the Councils, and will scourge you in their Synagogues.

18 And ye shall be brought to the governors and kings for my sake, in witness to them, and to the Gentiles.

19 (J)But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that hour, what ye shall say.

20 For it is not ye that speak, but the spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
