New Testament in a Year
¶ (A)[a]And when ye see Jerusalem besieged with soldiers, then understand that the desolation thereof is near.
Then let them which are in Judea, flee to the mountains: and let them which are in the midst thereof, depart out: and let not them that are in the country, enter therein:
For these be the days of vengeance, to fulfill all things that are written.
But woe be to them that be with child, and to them that give suck in those days: for there shall be great distress in this land, and [b]wrath over this people,
And they shall fall on the [c]edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all nations, and Jerusalem shall be trodden under foot of the Gentiles, until the time of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
(B)[d]Then there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars, and upon the earth trouble among the nations, with perplexity: the sea and the waters shall roar.
[e]And men’s hearts shall fail them for fear and for looking after those things which shall come on the world: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
And then shall they see the Son of man come in a cloud, with power and great glory.
And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads: (C)for your redemption draweth near.
[f]And he spake to them a parable, Behold, the fig tree, and all trees,
When they now shoot forth, ye seeing them, know of your own selves, that summer is then near.
So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is near.
Verily I say unto you, This age shall not pass, till all these things be done:
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
(D)Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be oppressed with surfeiting and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and lest that day come on you at unawares,
For as a snare shall it come [g]on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Watch therefore, and pray continually, that ye may be counted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and that ye may [h]stand before the son of man.
¶ Now in the daytime he taught in the Temple, and at night he went out, and abode in the mount, that is called the mount of Olives.
And all the people came in the morning to him, to hear him in the Temple.
