33 These are the journeys of the children of Israel, who went forth out of the land of Egypt with their armies under the hand of Moses and Aaron.
2 And Moses wrote their goings out according to their journeys by the commandment of the Lord, and these are their journeys according to their goings out:
3 And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month. On the morrow after the Passover the children of Israel went out with a high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians,
4 for the Egyptians buried all their firstborn, whom the Lord had smitten among them. Upon their gods also the Lord executed judgments.
5 And the children of Israel removed from Rameses and pitched camp in Succoth.
6 And they departed from Succoth and pitched in Etham, which is in the edge of the wilderness.
7 And they removed from Etham and turned again unto Pihahiroth, which is before Baalzephon; and they pitched before Migdol.
8 And they departed from before Pihahiroth and passed through the midst of the sea into the wilderness, and went three days’ journey in the Wilderness of Etham, and pitched in Marah.
9 And they removed from Marah and came unto Elim; and in Elim were twelve fountains of water and threescore and ten palm trees, and they pitched there.
10 And they removed from Elim and encamped by the Red Sea.
11 And they removed from the Red Sea and encamped in the Wilderness of Sin.
12 And they took their journey out of the Wilderness of Sin and encamped in Dophkah.
13 And they departed from Dophkah and encamped in Alush.
14 And they removed from Alush and encamped at Rephidim, where was no water for the people to drink.
15 And they departed from Rephidim and pitched camp in the Wilderness of Sinai.
16 And they removed from the Desert of Sinai and pitched at Kibrothhattaavah [that is, The graves of lust].
17 And they departed from Kibrothhattaavah and encamped at Hazeroth.
18 And they departed from Hazeroth and pitched in Rithmah.
19 And they departed from Rithmah and pitched at Rimmonperez.
20 And they departed from Rimmonperez and pitched in Libnah.
21 And they removed from Libnah and pitched at Rissah.
22 And they journeyed from Rissah and pitched in Kehelathah.
23 And they went from Kehelathah and pitched in Mount Shepher.
24 And they removed from Mount Shepher and encamped in Haradah.
25 And they removed from Haradah and pitched in Makheloth.
26 And they removed from Makheloth and encamped at Tahath.
27 And they departed from Tahath and pitched at Terah.
28 And they removed from Terah and pitched in Mithkah.
29 And they went from Mithkah and pitched in Hashmonah.
30 And they departed from Hashmonah and encamped at Moseroth.
31 And they departed from Moseroth and pitched in Benejaakan.
32 And they removed from Benejaakan and encamped at Horhagidgad.
33 And they went from Horhagidgad and pitched in Jotbathah.
34 And they removed from Jotbathah and encamped at Abronah.
35 And they departed from Abronah and encamped at Eziongeber.
36 And they removed from Eziongeber and pitched in the Wilderness of Zin, which is Kadesh.
37 And they removed from Kadesh and pitched in Mount Hor, on the edge of the land of Edom.
38 And Aaron the priest went up into Mount Hor at the commandment of the Lord, and died there in the fortieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, on the first day of the fifth month.
39 And Aaron was a hundred and twenty and three years old when he died on Mount Hor.
40 And King Arad the Canaanite, who dwelt in the South in the land of Canaan, heard of the coming of the children of Israel.
41 And they departed from Mount Hor and pitched camp in Zalmonah.
42 And they departed from Zalmonah and pitched in Punon.
43 And they departed from Punon and pitched in Oboth.
44 And they departed from Oboth and pitched in Ijeabarim, in the border of Moab.
45 And they departed from Iim and pitched in Dibongad.
46 And they removed from Dibongad and encamped in Almondiblathaim.
47 And they removed from Almondiblathaim and pitched in the mountains of Abarim before Nebo.
48 And they departed from the mountains of Abarim and pitched in the plains of Moab by the Jordan near Jericho.
49 And they pitched by the Jordan, from Bethjesimoth even unto Abelshittim in the plains of Moab.
50 And the Lord spoke unto Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan near Jericho, saying,
51 “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them: ‘When ye have passed over the Jordan into the land of Canaan,
52 then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their idols, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places.
53 And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land and dwell therein, for I have given you the land to possess it.
54 And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families; and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance. Every man’s inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth, according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit.
55 But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall come to pass that those who ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.
56 Moreover it shall come to pass that I shall do unto you as I thought to do unto them.’”
78 Give ear, O my people, to my law; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old,
3 which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord and His strength, and His wonderful works that He hath done.
5 For He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded to our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;
6 that the generation to come might know them, even the children who should be born, who should arise and declare them to their children,
7 that they might set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments;
8 and so might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.
9 The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
10 They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in His law;
11 they forgot His works and His wonders that He had shown them.
12 Marvelous things did He in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13 He divided the sea and caused them to pass through; and He made the waters to stand as a heap.
14 In the daytime also He led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
15 He cleaved the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.
16 He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
17 And they sinned yet more against Him by provoking the Most High in the wilderness.
18 And they tempted God in their heart by asking for meat for their lust.
19 Yea, they spoke against God: they said, “Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?
20 Behold, He smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He provide flesh for His people?”
21 Therefore the Lord heard this and was wroth; so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also rose up against Israel,
22 because they believed not in God and trusted not in His salvation,
23 though He had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
24 and had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.
25 Man ate angels’ food; He sent them meat to the full.
26 He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven, and by His power He brought in the south wind.
27 He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls as the sand of the sea.
28 And He let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.
29 So they ate and were well filled, for He gave them their own desire.
30 But they were not estranged from their lust; but while their meat was yet in their mouths,
31 the wrath of God came upon them and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.
32 For all this, they sinned still and believed not in His wondrous works.
33 Therefore their days did He consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.
34 When He slew them, then they sought Him; and they returned and inquired early after God.
35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God, their redeemer.
36 Nevertheless they flattered Him with their mouth, and they lied unto Him with their tongues.
37 For their heart was not right with Him, neither were they steadfast in His covenant.
25 O Lord, Thou art my God. I will exalt Thee, I will praise Thy name, for Thou hast done wonderful things; Thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.
2 For Thou hast made of a city a heap, of a fortified city a ruin, a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be rebuilt.
3 Therefore shall the strong people glorify Thee; the city of the terrible nations shall fear Thee.
4 For Thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
5 Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place, even the heat with the shadow of a cloud; the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.
6 And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.
7 And He will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations.
8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces, and the rebuke of His people shall He take away from off all the earth; for the Lord hath spoken it.
9 And it shall be said in that day: “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.”
10 For in this mountain shall the hand of the Lord rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under Him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.
11 And He shall spread forth His hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim; and He shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.
12 And the fortress of the high fort of thy walls shall He bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust.
3 Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God! Therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.
2 Beloved, now we are the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be; but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law, for sin is the transgression of the law.
5 And ye know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not; whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you. He that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil, for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him, and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 By this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither is he that loveth not his brother.
11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning: that we should love one another.
12 Be not as Cain, who was of that wicked one and slew his brother. And why did he slay him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer, and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
16 Hereby we perceive the love of God: because He laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17 But whoso hath this world’s goods and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up the compassion of his heart from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.
20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart and knoweth all things.
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then we have confidence toward God.
22 And whatsoever we ask we receive of Him, because we keep His commandment and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
24 And he that keepeth His commandments dwelleth in Him, and He in him. And hereby we know that He abideth in us: by the Spirit which He hath given us.
