9 Now the sons of Hezron, who were born to him were Jerahmeel, Ram and Chelubai. 10 Ram [w]became the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab became the father of Nahshon, leader of the sons of Judah; 11 Nahshon became the father of Salma, Salma became the father of Boaz, 12 Boaz became the father of Obed, and Obed became the father of Jesse; 13 and Jesse became the father of Eliab his firstborn, then Abinadab the second, [x]Shimea the third, 14 Nethanel the fourth, Raddai the fifth, 15 Ozem the sixth, David the seventh; 16 and their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. 18 Now Caleb the son of Hezron had sons by Azubah his wife, and by Jerioth; and these were her sons: Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon. 19 When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath, who bore him Hur. 20 Hur became the father of Uri, and Uri became the father of Bezalel.
21 Afterward Hezron went in to the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, whom he married when he was sixty years old; and she bore him Segub. 22 Segub became the father of Jair, who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead. 23 But Geshur and Aram took [aa]the towns of Jair from them, with Kenath and its villages, even sixty cities. All these were the sons of Machir, the father of Gilead. 24 After the death of Hezron in Caleb-ephrathah, Abijah, Hezron’s wife, bore him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.

Those are the Kenites who came from Hammath, the father of the house of Rechab.
A Better Ministry
8 Now the main point in what has been said is this: we have such a (A)high priest, who has taken His seat at (B)the right hand of the throne of the (C)Majesty in the heavens, 2 a (D)minister [a]in the sanctuary and [b]in the (E)true [c]tabernacle, which the Lord (F)pitched, not man. 3 For every (G)high priest is appointed (H)to offer both gifts and sacrifices; so it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer. 4 Now if He were on earth, He would not be a priest at all, since there are those who (I)offer the gifts according to the Law; 5 who serve (J)a copy and (K)shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses [d]was (L)warned by God when he was about to erect the [e]tabernacle; for, “(M)See,” He says, “that you make all things according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.” 6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the (N)mediator of (O)a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.
A New Covenant
7 For (P)if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second. 8 For finding fault with them, He says,
“(Q)Behold, days are coming, says the Lord,
[f]When I will effect (R)a new covenant
With the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;
9 (S)Not like the covenant which I made with their fathers
On the day when I took them by the hand
To lead them out of the land of Egypt;
For they did not continue in My covenant,
And I did not care for them, says the Lord.
10 “(T)For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
After those days, says the Lord:
[g]I will put My laws into their minds,
And I will write them (U)on their hearts.
And I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.
11 “(V)And they shall not teach everyone his fellow citizen,
And everyone his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’
For (W)all will know Me,
From [h]the least to the greatest of them.
12 “(X)For I will be merciful to their iniquities,
(Y)And I will remember their sins no more.”
13 [i]When He said, “(Z)A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. (AA)But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is [j]ready to disappear.
Judgment on Judah and Israel
2 Thus says the Lord,
“For three transgressions of (A)Moab and for four
I will not [a]revoke its punishment,
Because he (B)burned the bones of the king of Edom to lime.
2 “So I will send fire upon Moab
And it will consume the citadels of (C)Kerioth;
And Moab will die amid (D)tumult,
With [b]war cries and the sound of a trumpet.
3 “I will also cut off the [c](E)judge from her midst
And slay all her (F)princes with him,” says the Lord.
4 Thus says the Lord,
“For three transgressions of (G)Judah and for four
I will not revoke its punishment,
Because they (H)rejected the law of the Lord
And have not kept His statutes;
Their [d](I)lies also have led them astray,
Those after which their (J)fathers walked.
5 “So I will (K)send fire upon Judah
And it will consume the citadels of Jerusalem.”
6 Thus says the Lord,
“For three transgressions of (L)Israel and for four
I will not revoke its punishment,
Because they (M)sell the righteous for money
And the needy for a pair of sandals.
7 “These who [e]pant after the very dust of the earth on the head of the (N)helpless
Also (O)turn aside the way of the humble;
And a (P)man and his father [f]resort to the same [g]girl
In order to profane My holy name.
8 “On garments (Q)taken as pledges they stretch out beside (R)every altar,
And in the house of their God they (S)drink the wine of those who have been fined.
9 “Yet it was I who destroyed the (T)Amorite before them,
[h]Though his (U)height was like the height of cedars
And he was strong as the oaks;
I even destroyed his (V)fruit above and his root below.
10 “It was I who (W)brought you up from the land of Egypt,
And I led you in the wilderness (X)forty years
[i]That you might take possession of the land of the (Y)Amorite.
11 “Then I (Z)raised up some of your sons to be prophets
And some of your young men to be (AA)Nazirites.
Is this not so, O sons of Israel?” declares the Lord.
12 “But you made the Nazirites drink wine,
And you commanded the prophets saying, ‘You (AB)shall not prophesy!’
13 “Behold, I am [j](AC)weighted down beneath you
As a wagon [k]is weighted down when filled with sheaves.
14 “[l](AD)Flight will perish from the swift,
And the stalwart will not strengthen his power,
Nor the (AE)mighty man save his [m]life.
15 “He who (AF)grasps the bow will not stand his ground,
The swift of foot will not escape,
Nor will he who rides the (AG)horse save his [n]life.
16 “Even the [o]bravest among the warriors will (AH)flee naked in that day,” declares the Lord.
The Lord Extolled for His Goodness.
A Psalm of Praise, of David.
145 I will (A)extol You, (B)my God, O King,
And I will (C)bless Your name forever and ever.
2 Every day I will bless You,
And I will (D)praise Your name forever and ever.
3 (E)Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised,
And His (F)greatness is unsearchable.
4 One (G)generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.
5 On the (H)glorious [a]splendor of Your majesty
And (I)on Your wonderful works, I will meditate.
6 Men shall speak of the [b]power of Your (J)awesome acts,
And I will (K)tell of Your greatness.
7 They shall [c]eagerly utter the memory of Your (L)abundant goodness
And will (M)shout joyfully of Your righteousness.
8 The Lord is (N)gracious and merciful;
Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.
9 The Lord is (O)good to all,
And His (P)mercies are over all His works.
10 (Q)All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord,
And Your (R)godly ones shall bless You.
11 They shall speak of the (S)glory of Your kingdom
And talk of Your power;
12 To (T)make known to the sons of men [d]Your mighty acts
And the (U)glory of the majesty of [e]Your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is [f]an (V)everlasting kingdom,
And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
14 The Lord (W)sustains all who fall
And (X)raises up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all [g]look to You,
And You (Y)give them their food in due time.
16 You (Z)open Your hand
And satisfy the desire of every living thing.
17 The Lord is (AA)righteous in all His ways
And kind in all His deeds.
18 The Lord is (AB)near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him (AC)in truth.
19 He will (AD)fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;
He will also (AE)hear their cry and will save them.
20 The Lord (AF)keeps all who love Him,
But all the (AG)wicked He will destroy.
21 My (AH)mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
And (AI)all flesh will (AJ)bless His holy name forever and ever.
