2 Chronicles 22-23

22 And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his youngest son, king in his place. For the army that came with the Arabians to the camp had killed all the eldest. Therefore, Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, reigned.

Ahaziah was forty-two years old when he began to reign. And he reigned for one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri.

He also walked in the ways of the House of Ahab. For his mother counseled him to do wickedly.

Therefore, he did evil in the sight of the LORD, like the House of Ahab. For they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.

And he walked after their counsel and went with Jehoram, the son of Ahab, king of Israel, to fight against Hazael, king of Aram, at Ramoth Gilead. And the Aramites struck Joram.

And he returned to be healed in Jezreel, because of the wounds with which they had wounded him at Ramah when he fought with Hazael, king of Aram. Now Azariah, the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram, the son of Ahab, at Jezreel, because he was diseased.

And the destruction of Ahaziah came from God, in that he went to Joram. For when he had come, he went forth with Jehoram against Jehu, the son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to destroy the House of Ahab.

Therefore, when Jehu executed judgment upon the House of Ahab, and found the princes of Judah and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah that waited on Ahaziah, he killed them also.

And he sought Ahaziah. And they caught him where he was hidden in Samaria and brought him to Jehu and killed him and buried him, “Because,” they said, “he is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart.” So, the House of Ahaziah was not able to retain the kingdom.

10 Therefore, when Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the king’s seed of the House of Judah.

11 But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash, the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons who were to be killed and put him and his nurse in the bed chamber. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the Priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah) hid him from Athaliah. So, she did not kill him.

12 And he was hidden with them in the House of God for six years, while Athaliah reigned over the land.

23 And in the seventh year, Jehoiada grew bold and took the captains of hundreds—Azariah the son of Jeroham and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan and Azariah the son of Obed and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah and Elishaphat the son of Zichri—into covenant with him.

And they went about in Judah and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the chief fathers of Israel. And they came to Jerusalem.

And all the congregation made a covenant with the king in the House of God. And he said to them, “Behold, the king’s son must reign, as the LORD has said of the sons of David.

“This is what you shall do. One third of you who come on the Sabbath, of the priests and the Levites, shall be gatekeepers of the doors.

“And one third shall be at the king’s house, and one third at the gate of the foundation. And all the people shall be in the courts of the House of the LORD.

“But let no one come into the House of the LORD except the priests and the Levites who minister. They shall go in, for they are holy. But all the people shall keep the watch of the LORD.

“And the Levites shall surround the king, all around, every man with his weapon in his hand. And whoever enters into the House shall be killed. And you are to be with the king when he comes in and when he goes out.”

So, the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the Priest had commanded. And every man took his men who came in on the Sabbath along with those who went out on the Sabbath. For Jehoiada the Priest did not discharge the divisions.

And Jehoiada the Priest delivered spears to the captains of hundreds, and shields, and bucklers, which had been King David’s and were in the House of God.

10 And he had all the people stand (every man with his weapon in his hand) from the right side of the House to the left side of the House, by the Altar and by the House, all around the king.

11 Then they brought out the king’s son and put the crown upon him and gave him the Testimony and made him King. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, “God save the king.”

12 But when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people, into the House of the LORD.

13 And when she looked, behold, the king stood by his pillar at the entrance. And the princes and the trumpets were by the king. And all the people of the land rejoiced and blew the trumpets. And the singers were with instruments of music, and those who could sing praise. Then, Athaliah tore her clothes, and said, “Treason! Treason!”

14 Then Jehoiada the Priest brought out the captains of hundreds who were governors of the army, and said to them, “Take her forth between the ranks! And let whoever follows her die by the sword!” For the Priest had said, “Do not kill her in the House of the LORD.”

15 So they laid hands on her. And when she had come to the entrance of the horse gate, by the king’s house, they killed her there.

16 And Jehoiada made a covenant between himself and all the people and the king: that they would be the LORD’s people.

17 And all the people went to the house of Baal and destroyed and broke his altars and his images and killed Mattan, the priest of Baal, before the altars.

18 And Jehoiada appointed officers for the House of the LORD, under the hands of the priests and Levites, whom David had distributed for the House of the LORD, to offer Burnt Offerings to the LORD, as it is written in the Law of Moses, with rejoicing and singing, by the appointment of David.

19 And he set gatekeepers by the gates of the House of the LORD, so that no one who was unclean in anything could enter.

20 And he took the captains of hundreds and the noblemen and the governors of the people and all the people of the land; and he had the king come down out of the House of the LORD. And they went through the High Gate of the king’s house and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.

21 Then, all the people of the land rejoiced. And the city was quiet after they had killed Athaliah with the sword.

Revelation 10

10 And I saw another mighty angel come down from Heaven, clothed with a cloud and the rainbow upon his head. And his face was as the Sun; and his feet as pillars of fire.

And he had in his hand a little book, open. And he put his right foot upon the sea, and his left on the Earth,

and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. And when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.

And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write. But I heard a voice from heaven, saying to me, “Seal up those things which the seven thunders have spoken, and do not write them.”

And the angel who I saw stand upon the sea, and upon the Earth, lifted up his hand to Heaven,

And swore by Him Who lives for evermore - Who created Heaven and the things that therein are; and the Earth, and the things that therein are; and the sea, and the things that therein are - that time should be no more.

But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel - when he shall begin to blow the trumpet - even the mystery of God shall be finished, as He has declared to His servants, the Prophets.

And the voice which I heard from Heaven, spoke to me again, and said, “Go, and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands upon the sea and upon the Earth.”

So I went to the angel, and said to him, “Give me the little book.” And he said to me, “Take it, and eat it up. And it shall make your belly bitter. But it shall be as sweet as honey in your mouth.”

10 Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it up. And it was in my mouth as sweet as honey. But when I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

11 And he said to me, “You must prophesy again among the people and nations and tongues, and to many kings.”

Zechariah 6

Again, I turned and lifted up my eyes and looked. And behold, four chariots came out from between two mountains. And the mountains were mountains of bronze.

In the first chariot were red horses. And in the second chariot were black horses.

And in the third chariot were white horses. And in the fourth chariot were horses of diverse colors, and reddish.

Then I answered, and said to the Angel that talked with me, “What are these, my lord?”

And the Angel answered, and said to me, “These are the four spirits of Heaven, which go forth from standing with the LORD of all the Earth.

The one with the black horse went forth into the land of the North. And the white went out after them. And those of diverse colors went forth toward the South country.

And the reddish went out and were eager to go and pass through the world. And he said, “Go! Pass through the world!” So, they went throughout the world.

Then he cried to me, and spoke to me, saying, “Behold! These that go toward the North country have pacified My spirit in the North country!”

And the Word of the LORD came to me, saying:

10 “Take from those of the captivity, of Heldai and of Tobijah and Jedaiah, who have come from Babel. And you come the same day, and go to the House of Josiah, the son of Zephaniah.

11 “Take silver and gold and make crowns. And set them upon the head of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak the High Priest,

12 “And speak to him, saying, ‘Thus speaks the LORD of Hosts, and says: “Behold, the Man whose name is the Branch. And He shall grow up out of his place. And He shall build the Temple of the LORD.

13 “He shall build the Temple of the LORD and He shall bear the Glory and shall sit and rule upon His Throne. And He shall be a Priest upon His Throne. And the Counsel of Peace shall be between them both.

14 “And the crowns shall be for Helem and for Tobijah and for Jedaiah and for Hen, the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the Temple of the LORD.

15 “And those who are far off shall come and build in the Temple of the LORD. And you shall know that the LORD of Hosts has sent me to you. And this shall happen at that time if you will obey the voice of the LORD your God.”’”

John 9

And as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from his birth.

And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Master, who sinned - this man, or his parents - that he was born blind?”

Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents have sinned. But this is so that the works of God would be shown in him.

“I must work the works of the One who sent Me, while it is day. The night comes, when no one can work.

“As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.”

As soon as He had thus spoken, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and anointed the eyes of the blind with the clay.

And He said to him, “Go. Wash in the pool of Siloam (which is by interpretation, Sent).” Therefore, he went and washed, and came back seeing.

Now, the neighbors, and those who had seen him before, when he was blind, said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?”

Some said, “This is he.” And others said, “He is like him.” But he himself said, “I am he!”

10 Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?”

11 He answered, and said, “The Man who is called ‘Jesus’ made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash’. So, I went and washed, and received sight.”

12 Then they said to him, “Where is he?” He said, “I cannot tell.”

13 They brought him who was once blind to the Pharisees.

14 And it was the Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes.

15 Then, again, the Pharisees also asked him how he had received sight. And he said to them, “He laid clay upon my eyes. And I washed. And now I see.”

16 Then some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not of God, because He does not keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a Man who is a sinner do such miracles?” And there was a dissension among them.

17 Then they spoke to the blind again, “What do you say about Him, since He has opened your eyes?” And he said, “He is a Prophet.”

18 Then the Jews did not believe him (that he had been blind and received his sight) until they had called the parents of him who had received sight.

19 And they asked them, saying, “Is this your son, whom you say was born blind? How, then, does he now see?”

20 His parents answered them, and said, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind.

21 “But by what means he now sees we do not know. Or, who has opened his eyes we cannot tell. He is old enough. Ask him. He shall answer for himself.”

22 His parents spoke these words because they feared the Jews. For the Jews had already ordained that if anyone confessed that he was Christ, he would be expelled from the synagogue.

23 That is why his parents said, ‘He is old enough. Ask him.’

24 Then again they called the man who had been blind, and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this Man is a sinner.”

25 Then he answered, and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not, I cannot tell. One thing I know: that I was blind, and now I see!”

26 Then they said to him again, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?”

27 He answered them, “I have told you already, and you have not heard it. Why would you hear it again? Do you also wish to be His disciples?

28 Then they reviled him, and said, “You be His disciple! We will be Moses’ disciples!

29 “We know that God spoke with Moses. But we do not know from where this Man is.”

30 The man answered, and said to them, “Doubtless, this is a wondrous thing; that you do not know from where He is, and yet He has opened my eyes.

31 “Now we know that God does not hear sinners. But if anyone is a worshiper of God, and does His will, He does hear him.

32 “Since the world began it has been unheard of for anyone to open the eyes of one born blind.

33 “If this Man were not of God, He could have done nothing.”

34 They answered, and said to him, “You were born entirely in sin, and do you teach us!?” So, they cast him out.

35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out. And when He had found him, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”

36 He answered, and said, “Who is He, Lord, that I might believe in Him?”

37 And Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him, and it is He who is talking with you.”

38 Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” and worshiped Him.

39 And Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that those who do not see, might see; and that those who see, might be made blind.”

40 And some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these things, and said to Him, “Are we blind also?”

41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin. But now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore, your sin remains.
