Numbers 32

32 Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had an exceedingly great multitude of cattle. And they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that it was an apt place for cattle.

Then the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the Priest and to the Princes of the Congregation, saying,

“Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon,

“country which the LORD struck before the Congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle. And your servants have cattle.”

“Therefore,” they said, “if we have found grace in your sight, let this land be given to your servants for a possession, and do not bring us over Jordan.”

And Moses said to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, “Shall your brothers go to war and you stay here?

“Therefore, now, you discourage the heart of the children of Israel to go over into the land which the LORD has given them?

“Your fathers did the same when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to see the land.

“For when they went up all the way to the river of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, so that they would not go into the land which the LORD had given them.

10 “And the LORD’s wrath was kindled the same day, and He swore, saying,

11 ‘None of the men who came out of Egypt from twenty years old and above shall see the land which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, because they have not wholly followed Me,

12 ‘except Caleb, the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua, the son of Nun. For they have constantly followed the LORD.’

13 “And the LORD was very angry with Israel, and made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.

14 “And behold, you have risen up in your father’s place, offspring of sinful men, to increase the fierce wrath of the LORD toward Israel.

15 “For if you turn away from following Him, He will yet again leave them in the wilderness. And you shall destroy all this folk.”

16 And they went near to him, and said, “We will build sheepfolds here for our sheep, for our cattle, and cities for our children.

17 “But we ourselves will be ready, armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them to their place. But our children shall dwell in the defensed cities, because of the inhabitants of the land.

18 “We will not return to our houses until the children of Israel have inherited, every man his inheritance.

19 “Nor will we inherit with them beyond Jordan and on that side, because our inheritance has fallen to us on this side, Jordan, eastward.”

20 And Moses said to them, “If you will do this thing, and go armed before the LORD to war,

21 “and will go — every one of you in harness, over Jordan, before the LORD, until He has cast out His enemies from His sight

22 “and until the land is subdued before the LORD — then you shall return and be innocent toward the LORD, and toward Israel. And this land shall be your possession before the LORD.

23 “But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD. And be sure that your sin will find you out.

24 “Build cities for your children, and folds for your sheep, and do that which you have spoken.”

25 Then the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, “Your servants will do as my lord commands.

26 “Our children, our wives, our sheep, and all our cattle shall remain there in the cities of Gilead.

27 “But every one of your servants will go to war, armed before the LORD to fight, as my lord says.”

28 So Moses commanded them concerning Eleazar the Priest and Joshua the son of Nun and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel.

29 And Moses said to them, “If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will go with you over Jordan — all armed to fight before the LORD — then, when the land is subdued before you, you shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession.

30 “But if they will not go over with you armed, then they shall have their possessions among you in the land of Canaan.”

31 And the children of Gad, and the children of Reuben answered, saying, “As the LORD has said to your servants, so will we do.

32 “We will go armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, so that the possession of our inheritance may be to us on this side of Jordan.”

33 So Moses gave to them — to the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben and to half the tribe of Manasseh, the son of Joseph — the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og, king of Bashan, the land with its cities and coasts, even the cities of the country all around.

34 Then the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,

35 and Atroth, Shophan, and Jazer, and Jogbehah,

36 and Beth Nimrah, and Beth Haran (defensed cities), also sheepfolds.

37 And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kirjathaim,

38 and Nebo, and Baal Meon, and turned their names, and Shibmah, and gave other names to the cities which they built.

39 And the children of Machir, the son of Manasseh, went to Gilead and took it, and put out the Amorites who dwelt therein.

40 Then Moses gave Gilead to Machir, the son of Manasseh. And he dwelt therein.

41 And Jair, the son of Manasseh, went and took the small towns thereof and called them Havoth Jair.

42 Also Nobah went and took Kenath, with its villages, and called it Nobah (after his own name).

Psalm 77

77 My voice came to God when I cried. My voice came to God and He heard me.

On the day of my trouble, I sought the LORD. My hand did not cease in the night. My soul refused comfort.

I thought upon God and was troubled. I prayed, and my spirit was full of anguish. Selah.

You keep my eyes awake. I was astonished and could not speak.

I considered the days of old, the years of ancient time.

I called to remembrance my song in the night. I communed with my own heart; and my spirit searched diligently.

Will the LORD be absent forever? And will He show no more favor?

Has His mercy ceased forever? Does His promise fail forevermore?

Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has He shut up His tender mercies in displeasure? Selah.

10 And I said, “This is my death.” Yet, I remembered the years of the right hand of the Most High.

11 I remembered the works of the LORD. Certainly, I remembered Your wonders of old.

12 I will also meditate on all Your works and talk of Your acts.

13 Your way, O God, is in the Sanctuary. Who is so great a God as our God!

14 You are the God Who does wonders. You have declared Your power among the people.

15 You have redeemed Your people with Your arm, even the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

16 The waters saw You, O God. The waters saw You and were afraid. Indeed, the depths trembled.

17 The clouds poured out water. The heavens gave a sound. Indeed, Your arrows went all over.

18 The voice of Your thunder was all round. The lightnings lightened the world; the earth trembled and shook.

19 Your way is in the sea, Your paths in the great waters; and Your footsteps are not known.

20 You led Your people like sheep, by the hand of Moses and Aaron. A Psalm to give instruction, committed to Asaph

Isaiah 24

24 Behold, the LORD lays waste to the Earth and makes it empty. He turns it upside down and scatters abroad its inhabitants.

And as with people, so it shall be with priest; as with servant, so with master; as with maid, so with mistress; as with buyer, so with seller; as with lender, so with borrower; as with creditor, so with debtor.

The Earth shall be completely emptied and utterly plundered. For the LORD has spoken this Word.

The Earth laments and fades away. The world languishes and withers. The proud people of the Earth are weakened.

The Earth also deceives, because of its inhabitants. For they transgressed the Laws. They changed the Ordinances, broke the everlasting Covenant.

Therefore, the curse has devoured the Earth, and its inhabitants are desolate. Therefore, the inhabitants of the land are burned up. And few men are left.

The wine fails. The vine has no might. All who were of merry heart, mourn.

The rejoicing of tambourines ends. The noise of those who rejoice stops. The joy of the harp ceases.

They shall not drink wine with joy. Strong drink shall be bitter to those who drink it.

10 The city of vanity has broken down. Every house is shut up, so that no one may come in.

11 There is a crying for wine in the streets. All joy is darkened. The mirth of the world has gone away.

12 In the cities, desolation is left. And the gate is stricken with destruction.

13 Surely, thus it shall be in the midst of the Earth, among the people, as the shaking of an olive tree, as the grapes when the vintage has ended.

14 They shall lift up their voice. They shall shout for the magnificence of the LORD. They shall rejoice from the sea.

15 Therefore, praise the LORD in the valleys, the Name of the LORD God of Israel, in the isles of the sea.

16 From the outermost part of the Earth we have heard praises, glory to the just. And I said, “My leanness! My leanness! Woe to me! The transgressors have offended. Yea, the transgressors have grievously offended.”

17 Fear and the pit and the snare are upon you, O inhabitant of the Earth!

18 And he who flees from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit. And he who comes up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare. For the windows from on high are open. And the foundations of the Earth shake.

19 The Earth has utterly broken down. The Earth has completely dissolved. The Earth has moved exceedingly.

20 The Earth shall reel to and fro like a drunken man, and shall be removed like a tent. And its iniquity shall be heavy upon it, so that it shall fall and rise no more.

21 And on that day, the LORD shall visit the host above that is on high, the kings of the world that are upon the Earth.

22 And they shall be gathered together as the prisoners in the pit. And they shall be shut up in the prison. And after many days, they shall be visited.

23 Then the Moon shall be ashamed, and the Sun, when the LORD of Hosts shall reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem. And glory shall be before His ancient men.

1 John 2

My little children, these things I write to you so that you do not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father: Jesus Christ, the Just.

And He is the reconciliation for our sins; and not only for ours, but also for the whole world.

And by this we are sure that we know Him: if we keep His Commandments.

The one who says, “I know him,” and does not keep His Commandments, is a liar. And the truth is not in him.

But whoever keeps His Word, in him is the love of God accomplished. By this we know that we are in Him.

Whoever says that he remains in Him, ought still to walk as He has walked.

Brothers, I write no new commandment to you, but an old Commandment which you have had from the beginning. This old Commandment is that Word which you have heard from the beginning.

On the other hand, a new Commandment I do write to you (which is true in Him and also in you). For the darkness is passing, and the true Light now shines.

Whoever says that he is in the Light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now.

10 Whoever loves his brother, abides in the Light. And there is no stumbling block in him.

11 But whoever hates his brother, is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and does not know where he goes, because that darkness has blinded his eyes.

12 Little children, I write to you because your sins are forgiven for His Name’s sake.

13 I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him Who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, because you have known the Father.

14 I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him Who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the Word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.

15 Love neither this world nor the things which are in this world. If anyone loves this world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in this world (the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life), is not of the Father, but is of this world.

17 And this world passes away, and the lust thereof. But whoever fulfills the will of God, abides forever.

18 Little children, it is the last hour. And just as you have heard that Antichrist shall come, so now there are many Antichrists (by which we know that it is the last hour).

19 They went out from us, but they were not of us. For if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But this is so that all of those who were not of us are revealed.

20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One and know all things.

21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it (and no lie comes from the truth).

22 Who is a liar, except the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denies the Father and the Son.

23 Whoever denies the Son, the same does not have the Father.

24 Therefore, let that same which you have heard from the beginning remain in you. If that which you have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, you shall also continue in the Son and in the Father.

25 And this is the promise that He has promised us: eternal life.

26 These things I have written to you concerning those who deceive you.

27 But that anointing which you received from Him dwells in you. And you do not need anyone to teach you. But as that same anointing teaches you of all things - and it is true, and not lying, and as it is taught to you - you shall abide in Him.

28 And now, little children, abide in Him. So that when He shall appear, we may be bold and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that whoever does righteously is born of Him.
