Exodus 38

Making the Altar of Burnt Offering

38 Bezalel(A) constructed the altar of burnt offering from acacia wood. It was square, 7½ feet long and 7½ feet wide,[a] and was 4½ feet[b] high. He made horns for it on its four corners; the horns were of one piece.[c] Then he overlaid it with bronze.

He made all the altar’s utensils: the pots, shovels, basins, meat forks, and firepans; he made all its utensils of bronze. He constructed for the altar a grate of bronze mesh under its ledge,[d] halfway up from the bottom. At the four corners of the bronze grate he cast four rings as holders for the poles. Also, he made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with bronze. Then he inserted the poles into the rings on the sides of the altar in order to carry it with them. He constructed the altar with boards so that it was hollow.

Making the Bronze Basin

He made the bronze basin and its stand from the bronze mirrors of the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting.(B)

Making the Courtyard

Then(C) he made the courtyard. The hangings on the south side of the courtyard were of finely spun linen, 150 feet in length,[e] 10 including their 20 posts and 20 bronze bases. The hooks and bands[f] of the posts were silver. 11 The hangings on the north side were also 150 feet in length,[g] including their 20 posts and 20 bronze bases. The hooks and bands[h] of the posts were silver. 12 The hangings on the west side were 75 feet in length,[i] including their 10 posts and 10 bases. The hooks and bands of the posts were silver. 13 The hangings on the east toward the sunrise were also 75 feet in length.[j] 14 The hangings on one side of the gate were 22½ feet,[k] including their three posts and three bases. 15 It was the same for the other side. The hangings were 22½ feet,[l] including their three posts and three bases on both sides of the courtyard gate. 16 All the hangings around the courtyard were of finely spun linen. 17 The bases for the posts were bronze; the hooks and bands[m] of the posts were silver; and the plating for the tops of the posts was silver. All the posts of the courtyard were banded with silver.

18 The screen for the gate of the courtyard was embroidered with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and finely spun linen. It was 30 feet[n] long, and like the hangings of the courtyard, 7½ feet[o] high.[p] 19 It had four posts, including their four bronze bases. Their hooks were silver, and the bands[q] as well as the plating of their tops were silver. 20 All the tent pegs for the tabernacle and for the surrounding courtyard were bronze.

Inventory of Materials

21 This is the inventory for the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the testimony,(D) that was recorded at Moses’ command. It was the work of the Levites under the direction of[r] Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.(E) 22 Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made everything that the Lord commanded Moses. 23 With him was Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, a gem cutter, a designer, and an embroiderer with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine linen.

24 All the gold of the presentation offering that was used for the project in all the work on the sanctuary, was 2,193 pounds,[s] according to the sanctuary shekel.(F) 25 The silver from those of the community who were registered was 7,544 pounds,[t] according to the sanctuary shekel— 26 2⁄5 of an ounce[u] per man, that is, half a shekel according to the sanctuary shekel, from everyone 20 years old or more who had crossed over to the registered group, 603,550 men. 27 There were 7,500 pounds[v] of silver used to cast the bases of the sanctuary and the bases of the veil—100 bases from 7,500 pounds,[w] 75 pounds[x] for each base.(G) 28 With the remaining 44 pounds[y] he made the hooks for the posts, overlaid their tops, and supplied bands[z] for them.

29 The bronze of the presentation offering totaled 5,310 pounds.[aa] 30 He made with it the bases for the entrance to the tent of meeting, the bronze altar and its bronze grate, all the utensils for the altar, 31 the bases for the surrounding courtyard, the bases for the gate of the courtyard, all the tent pegs for the tabernacle, and all the tent pegs for the surrounding courtyard.

John 17

Jesus Prays for Himself

17 Jesus spoke these things, looked up to heaven, and said:

Father,
the hour has come.
Glorify Your Son
so that the Son(A) may glorify You,(B)
for You gave Him authority
over all flesh;[a](C)
so He may give eternal life(D)
to all You have given Him.(E)
This is eternal life:
that they may know You, the only(F) true(G) God,
and the One You have sent(H)—Jesus Christ.(I)
I have glorified You on the earth
by completing the work You gave Me to do.
Now, Father,(J) glorify Me in Your presence
with that glory(K) I had with You
before the world existed.(L)

Jesus Prays for His Disciples

I have revealed Your name(M)
to the men You gave Me(N) from the world.(O)
They were Yours, You gave them to Me,(P)
and they have kept Your word.(Q)
Now they know that all things
You have given to Me are from You,
because the words that You gave Me,(R)
I have given them.
They have received them
and have known for certain
that I came from You.(S)
They have believed that You sent Me.
I pray[b] for them.
I am not praying for the world
but for those You have given Me,(T)
because they are Yours.
10 Everything I have is Yours,
and everything You have is Mine,(U)
and I have been glorified in them.
11 I am no longer in the world,
but they are in the world,
and I am coming to You.(V)
Holy(W) Father,
protect[c] them by Your name(X)
that You have given Me,
so that they may be one(Y) as We are(Z) one.
12 While I was with them,
I was protecting them by Your name
that You have given Me.
I guarded(AA) them and not one of them is lost,
except the son of destruction,[d]
so that the Scripture(AB) may be fulfilled.(AC)
13 Now I am coming to You,
and I speak these things in the world
so that they may have My joy completed in them.
14 I have given them Your word.
The world hated(AD) them
because they are not of the world,(AE)
as I am not of the world.(AF)
15 I am not praying
that You take them out of the world
but that You protect them from the evil one.(AG)
16 They are not of the world,
as I am not of the world.(AH)
17 Sanctify[e](AI) them by the truth;(AJ)
Your word is truth.
18 As You sent Me into the world,(AK)
I also have sent them into the world.
19 I sanctify Myself for them,
so they also may be sanctified by the truth.

Jesus Prays for All Believers

20 I pray not only for these,
but also for those who believe in Me
through their message.
21 May they all be one,(AL)
as You, Father, are in Me and I am in You.(AM)
May they also be one[f] in Us,
so the world may believe You sent Me.
22 I have given them the glory(AN) You have given Me.
May they be one as We are one.
23 I am in them and You are in Me.(AO)
May they be made completely one,
so the world may know You have sent Me
and have loved(AP) them as You have loved Me.(AQ)
24 Father,
I desire those You have given Me
to be with Me where I am.(AR)
Then they will see My glory,
which You have given Me
because You loved Me before the world’s foundation.
25 Righteous Father!
The world has not known You.
However, I have known You,(AS)
and these have known that You sent Me.
26 I made Your name(AT) known to them
and will make it known,
so the love You have loved Me with
may be in them and I may be in them.(AU)

Philippians 1

Greeting

Paul(A) and Timothy,(B) slaves of Christ Jesus:

To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi,(C) including the overseers(D) and deacons.(E)

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

I give thanks to my God for every remembrance of you,[a] always praying with joy for all of you in my every prayer, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day(F) until now.(G) I am sure of this, that He who started a good work(H) in you[b] will carry it on to completion(I) until the day of Christ Jesus. It is right(J) for me to think this way about all of you, because I have you in my heart,[c] and you are all partners with me in grace, both in my imprisonment(K) and in the defense(L) and establishment of the gospel. For God is my witness,(M) how deeply I miss all of you(N) with the affection of Christ Jesus. And I pray this: that your love(O) will keep on growing(P) in knowledge and every kind of discernment,(Q) 10 so that you can approve the things that are superior(R) and can be pure(S) and blameless(T) in[d] the day of Christ,(U) 11 filled with the fruit(V) of righteousness(W) that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory(X) and praise of God.

Advance of the Gospel

12 Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has actually resulted in the advance of the gospel,(Y) 13 so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard,[e] and to everyone else, that my imprisonment is in the cause of Christ. 14 Most of the brothers in the Lord have gained confidence from my imprisonment and dare even more to speak the message[f](Z) fearlessly. 15 To be sure, some preach Christ out of envy and strife,(AA) but others out of good will.[g] 16 These do so out of love,(AB) knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; 17 the others proclaim Christ out of rivalry,(AC) not sincerely, seeking to cause me anxiety in my imprisonment.[h] 18 What does it matter? Just that in every way, whether out of false motives(AD) or true, Christ is proclaimed. And in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice 19 because I know this will lead to my deliverance[i](AE) through your prayers and help from the Spirit(AF) of Jesus Christ.(AG) 20 My eager expectation and hope(AH) is that I will not be ashamed about anything, but that now as always, with all boldness, Christ will be highly honored in my body, whether by life(AI) or by death.(AJ)

Living Is Christ

21 For me, living is Christ(AK) and dying is gain.(AL) 22 Now if I live on in the flesh, this means fruitful(AM) work(AN) for me; and I don’t know which one I should choose. 23 I am pressured by both. I have the desire to depart and be with Christ(AO)—which is far better(AP) 24 but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for you. 25 Since I am persuaded of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,(AQ) 26 so that, because of me, your confidence may grow(AR) in Christ Jesus(AS) when I come to you again.

27 Just one thing: Live your life(AT) in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or am absent, I will hear about you that you are standing firm(AU) in one(AV) spirit, with one mind,[j] working side by side for the faith(AW) that comes from the gospel, 28 not being frightened in any way by your opponents.(AX) This is a sign of destruction for them,(AY) but of your deliverance(AZ)—and this is from God. 29 For it has been given to you on Christ’s behalf not only to believe(BA) in Him, but also to suffer for Him, 30 having the same struggle that you saw I had and now hear that I have.
