John 6:43-71

Then Jesus answered, and said to them, “Do not grumble among yourselves.

“No one can come to Me unless the Father, Who has sent Me, draws him. And I will raise him up at the last day.

“It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God’. Therefore, everyone who has heard, and has learned from the Father, comes to Me.

“Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He Who is from God; He has seen the Father.

“Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in Me has everlasting life.

“I am the bread of life.

“Your fathers ate Manna in the wilderness and are dead.

“This is the bread which comes down from Heaven, so that anyone who eats of it should not die.

“I am the living bread which came down from Heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever. And the bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

Then the Jews argued among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”

Then Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His blood, you have no life in you.

“Whoever eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, has eternal life. And I will raise him up at the last day.

“For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.

“the one who eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, dwells in Me, and I in him.

“As the living Father has sent Me, so I live by the Father. And the one who feeds on Me, shall also live because of Me.

“This is the bread which came down from Heaven; not as your fathers have eaten Manna and are dead. The one who eats of this bread, shall live forever.”

These things He spoke in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.

Therefore, many of His disciples (when they heard this) said, “This is a hard saying. Who can hear it?”

But Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples grumbled at this, said to them, “Does this offend you?

“What if, then, you should see the Son of Man ascend up where He was before?

“It is the Spirit that quickens. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are Spirit and life.

“But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him).

And He said, “Therefore I said to you that no one can come to Me unless it is granted to him by My Father.”

From that time, many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him.

Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Will you also go away?”

Then Simon Peter answered Him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

“And we believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.”

Jesus answered them, “Have I not chosen you twelve, and one of you is a demon?”

Now He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. For it was he who would betray Him, though he was one of the twelve.
