¹⁸ For indeed the preceding commandment is annulled because of its weakness and uselessness.

¹⁹ For the Law made nothing perfect, but rather the introduction of a better hope (by which we draw near to God).

²⁰ And inasmuch as it is not without an oath (for these priests are made without an oath,

²¹ but this One was made with an oath by Him Who said to Him, “The Lord has sworn, and will not repent. You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.”)

²² By so much has Jesus made a surety of a better Testament.

²³ And among them many were made priests, because they were not allowed to endure by the reason of death.

²⁴ But this Man, because He endures forever, has an unchangeable priesthood.

²⁵ Therefore, He is also able to perfectly save those who come to God through Him (seeing He forever lives to make intercession for them).

²⁶ For it was fitting for us to have such a High Priest: holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

²⁷ Who does not need to offer up daily sacrifices (first for His own sins, and then for the people’s) as those High Priests. For He did that once and for all when He offered up Himself.

²⁸ For the Law makes men (who have weakness) High Priests. But the word of the oath (which came after the Law) makes the Son, Who is consecrated for evermore.
