Lord my God, You are very great;

The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,

Or can proclaim all His praise?

And worshiped a cast metal image.

For the image of an ox that eats grass.

If (WY)Moses, His chosen one, had not stood in the gap before Him,
To turn away His wrath from destroying them.

They (XB)did not believe His word,

They did not listen to the voice of the Lord.

That He would have them fall in the wilderness,

And ate (XH)sacrifices offered to the dead.
29 So they (XI)provoked Him to anger with their deeds,
And a plague broke out among them.
30 Then Phinehas (XJ)stood up and [ig]intervened,
And so the (XK)plague was brought to a halt.
31 And it was (XL)credited to him as righteousness,
To all generations forever.
32 They also (XM)provoked Him to wrath at the waters of [ih]Meribah,
So that it (XN)went badly for Moses on their account.
33 Because they (XO)were rebellious against [ii]His Spirit,
He spoke rashly with his lips.
34 They (XP)did not destroy the peoples,
As (XQ)the Lord had commanded them,
35 But (XR)they got involved with the nations

And those who hated them ruled over them.

And springs of water into a thirsty ground;

Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

And a dry land into springs of water;
36 And He has the hungry live there,

And [jp]gather a fruitful harvest.

And He (AAU)does not let their cattle decrease.
39 When they (AAV)become few and (AAW)lowly
Because of oppression, misery, and sorrow,
40 He (AAX)pours contempt upon noblemen
And (AAY)makes them wander (AAZ)in a pathless wasteland.
41 But He (ABA)sets the needy [jq]securely on high, away from affliction,
And (ABB)makes his families like a flock.
42 The (ABC)upright see it and are glad;
But all (ABD)injustice shuts its mouth.
43 Who is (ABE)wise? He is to pay attention to these things,
