Beginning
The dragon is bound for a thousand years. The dead arise and receive judgment.
20 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he took the dragon, that old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, and he bound him a thousand years, 3 and cast him into the bottomless pit. And he bound him and set a seal on him, that he should deceive the people no more till the thousand years were fulfilled. And after that, he must be loosed for a little season.
4 And I saw seats, and they that sat upon them; and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who were beheaded for the witness of Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshipped the beast, nor his image, neither had taken his mark upon their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the others of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is that first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. For on such the second death shall have no power. For they shall be the priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan will be loosed out of his prison, 8 and will go out to deceive the people who are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the plain of the earth and compassed the tents of the saints about, and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 And the devil who deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet were, and shall be tormented day and night forevermore.
11 And I saw a great white seat, and him that sat on it, from whose face both the earth and heaven fled away; and their place was found no more. 12 And I saw the dead, both great and small, stand before God. And the books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by those things that were written in the books, according to their deeds. 13 And the sea gave up the dead that were in her, and death and hell delivered up the dead that were in them. And they were judged, every person according to his deeds. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire; this is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
In this chapter is described the new and spiritual Jerusalem.
21 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth were vanished away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I, John, saw that holy city, new Jerusalem, come down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride made beautiful for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them. And they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. And there will be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying; neither will there be any more pain. For the former things are gone. 5 And he that sat upon the seat said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said to me, Write, for these words are faithful and true.
6 And he said to me, It is done. I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to him who is a-thirst of the well of the water of life, free. 7 He that overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he will be my child. 8 But the fearful and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, will have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
9 And one of the seven angels that had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues came to me and talked with me, saying, Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife. 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and a high mountain, and he showed me the great city, holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the brightness of God. And her brilliance was like a stone most precious, even a jasper clear as crystal. 12 And she had walls great and high, and had 12 gates, and at the gates 12 angels, and names written which are the names of the 12 tribes of Israel. 13 On the east side were three gates, and on the north side three gates, and on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had 12 foundations, and in them the names of the Lamb’s 12 apostles.
15 And he who talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city with, and its gates and its wall. 16 And the city was built four-square, and the length was the same as the breadth of it. And he measured the city with the reed: 12,000 furlongs, and the length and the breadth and the height of it were equal. 17 And he measured its wall: 144 cubits according to the measure of a man, which the angel had.
18 And its wall was constructed of jasper. And the city was pure gold like clear glass, 19 and the foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third a chalcedony, the fourth an emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth a topaz, the tenth a chrysoprase, the eleventh a jacinth, the twelfth an amethyst.
21 The 12 gates were 12 pearls; every gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, as though shining glass. 22 And there was no temple in it, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. 23 And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to give it light, because the brightness of God did light it, and the Lamb was the light of it. 24 And the people who are saved will walk in the light of it, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory to it. 25 And its gates are not shut daily, 26 because there will be no night there. 27 And there shall enter into it no unclean thing, neither whatsoever works abomination or makes lies, but only they who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
The river of the water of life. The fruitfulness and light of the city of God. The Lord does ever give his servants warning of things to come. The angel will not be worshipped. Nothing may be added to the word of God, nor taken away from it.
22 And he showed me a pure river of the water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the seat of God and of the Lamb, 2 in the middle of the street of the city. And on either side of the river there was the wood of life, which bore 12 kinds of fruit, and gave fruit every month. And the leaves of the wood served to heal the people. 3 And there shall be no more curse, but the seat of God and the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will serve him. 4 And they will see his face, and his name will be in their foreheads. 5 And there will be no night there, and they need no lamp, nor the light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they will reign forevermore.
6 And he said to me, These sayings are faithful and true. And the Lord God of the saints and prophets sent his angel to show to his servants the things that must shortly be fulfilled.
7 Behold, I come shortly. Happy is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.
8 I am John, who saw these things and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel that showed me these things. 9 And he said to me, See you do it not. For I am your fellow servant, and the fellow servant of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the sayings of this book. But worship God.
10 And he said to me, Do not seal up the sayings of the prophecy of this book. For the time is at hand.
11 He who does evil, let him do evil still; and he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he who is righteous, let him be more righteous; and he who is holy, let him be more holy. 12 And behold, I come shortly, and my reward with me, to give to everyone according to his deeds. 13 I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are those who do his commandments, so that their power may be in the tree of life, and they may enter in through the gates into the city. 15 For outside shall be dogs, and enchanters, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loves or makes lies.
16 I, Jesus, sent my angel to testify of these things to you in the congregations. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright morning star.
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come! And let him who hears say also, Come! And let him who is a-thirst come. And let whosoever will, take of the water of life, free.
18 I testify to everyone that hears the words of prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book. 19 And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from those things which are written in this book.
20 He who testifies to these things says, Be it, I come quickly.
Amen. Even so. Come, Lord Jesus!
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Testament.
