Praise Yahweh!

148 [a]Praise Yah!
Praise Yahweh (A)from the heavens;
Praise Him (B)in the heights!
Praise Him, (C)all His angels;
Praise Him, (D)all His hosts!
Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all stars of light!
Praise Him, (E)heavens of heavens,
And the (F)waters that are above the heavens!
Let them praise the name of Yahweh,
For (G)He commanded and they were created.
He caused them to (H)stand forever and ever;
He gave a (I)statute and it will never pass away.

Praise Yahweh from the earth,
(J)Sea monsters and all (K)deeps;
(L)Fire and hail, (M)snow and (N)clouds;
(O)Stormy wind, (P)doing His word;
(Q)Mountains and all hills;
Fruit (R)trees and all cedars;
10 (S)Beasts and all cattle;
(T)Creeping things and winged bird;
11 (U)Kings of the earth and all peoples;
Princes and all [b]judges of the earth;
12 Both choice men as well as virgins;
The old with the young.

13 Let them praise the name of Yahweh,
For His (V)name alone is set on high;
His (W)splendor is above earth and heaven.
14 And He has (X)raised up a horn for His people,
(Y)Praise for all His holy ones;
For the sons of Israel, a people (Z)near to Him.
[c]Praise Yah!

Yahweh Takes Pleasure in His People

149 [d]Praise Yah!
Sing to Yahweh a (AA)new song,
His praise (AB)in the assembly of the holy ones.
Let Israel be glad in (AC)his Maker;
Let the sons of Zion rejoice in their (AD)King.
Let them praise His name with (AE)dancing;
With (AF)tambourine and lyre let them sing praises to Him.
For Yahweh (AG)takes pleasure in His people;
He will (AH)beautify the afflicted ones with salvation.

Let the (AI)holy ones exult in glory;
Let them (AJ)sing for joy on their beds.
Let the (AK)exaltations of God be in their throats,
And a (AL)two-edged (AM)sword in their hand,
To (AN)execute vengeance on the nations
And punishments on the peoples,
To bind their kings (AO)with chains
And their (AP)honored men with fetters of iron,
To (AQ)execute on them the judgment written;
This is the (AR)majesty of all His holy ones.
[e]Praise Yah!

Praise Him, Praise Yah!

150 [f]Praise Yah!
Praise God in His (AS)sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty [g](AT)expanse.
Praise Him for His (AU)mighty deeds;
Praise Him according to the abundance of His (AV)greatness.

Praise Him with (AW)trumpet blast;
Praise Him with (AX)harp and lyre.
Praise Him with (AY)tambourine and dancing;
Praise Him with (AZ)stringed instruments and (BA)pipe.
Praise Him with resounding (BB)cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals.
Let (BC)everything that has breath praise Yah.
[h]Praise Yah!

Psalm 114-115

When Israel Went Out from Egypt

114 When Israel went out (A)from Egypt,
The house of Jacob from a people of (B)strange language,
Judah became (C)His sanctuary,
Israel, (D)His dominion.

The (E)sea looked and fled;
The (F)Jordan turned back.
The mountains (G)skipped like rams,
The hills, like lambs.
What (H)disturbs you, O sea, that you flee?
O Jordan, that you turn back?
O mountains, that you skip like rams?
O hills, like lambs?

(I)Tremble, O earth, before the Lord,
Before the God of Jacob,
Who (J)turned the rock into a (K)pool of water,
The (L)flint into a spring of water.

To Yahweh’s Name Give Glory

115 (M)Not to us, O Yahweh, not to us,
But (N)to Your name give glory
Because of Your lovingkindness, because of Your [a]truth.
(O)Why should the nations say,
(P)Where, now, is their God?”
But our (Q)God is in the heavens;
He (R)does whatever He pleases.
Their (S)idols are silver and gold,
The (T)work of man’s hands.
They have mouths, but they (U)do not speak;
They have eyes, but they do not see;
They have ears, but they do not hear;
They have noses, but they do not smell;
As for their hands, they do not feel;
As for their feet, they do not walk;
They do not make a sound with their throat.
(V)Those who make them [b]will become like them,
Everyone who trusts in them.

O (W)Israel, (X)trust in Yahweh;
He is their (Y)help and their shield.
10 O house of (Z)Aaron, trust in Yahweh;
He is their help and their shield.
11 You who [c](AA)fear Yahweh, trust in Yahweh;
He is their help and their shield.
12 Yahweh (AB)remembered us; He will bless!
He will bless the house of Israel.
He will bless the house of Aaron.
13 He will (AC)bless those who [d]fear Yahweh,
(AD)The small together with the great.
14 May Yahweh (AE)give you increase,
You and your children.
15 May you be blessed of Yahweh,
(AF)Who made heaven and earth.

16 The heavens are (AG)the heavens of Yahweh,
But (AH)the earth He has given to the sons of men.
17 It is not the (AI)dead that praise Yah,
And it is none of those who go down to (AJ)silence;
18 But as for us, we will (AK)bless Yah
From now until forever.
[e]Praise Yah!

1 Samuel 17:50-18:4

50 Thus David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and he struck the Philistine and put him to death; but there was no sword in David’s hand. 51 Then David ran and stood over the Philistine and (A)took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and put him to death and cut off his head with it. (B)Then the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, so they fled. 52 But the men of Israel and Judah arose and shouted and pursued the Philistines [a]as far as the valley and to the gates of (C)Ekron. And the slain Philistines lay fallen along the way to (D)Shaaraim, even to Gath and Ekron. 53 Then the sons of Israel returned from hotly pursuing the Philistines and plundered their camps. 54 And David took the Philistine’s head and brought it to Jerusalem, but he put his weapons in his tent.

55 Now when Saul saw David going out to meet the Philistine, he said to Abner the commander of the army, “Abner, whose son is (E)this young man?” And Abner said, “By your life, O king, I do not know.” 56 And the king said, “You inquire whose son the youth is.” 57 So when David returned from striking down the Philistine, Abner took him and (F)brought him before Saul with the Philistine’s head in his hand. 58 And Saul said to him, “Whose son are you, young man?” And David answered, “(G)I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.”

Jonathan Cuts a Covenant with David

18 Now it happened when he had finished speaking to Saul, that (H)the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and (I)Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And Saul took him that day and (J)did not let him return to his father’s house. Then (K)Jonathan cut a covenant with David because he loved him as his own soul. (L)And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even his sword and his bow and his belt.

Romans 10:4-17

For (A)Christ is the [a]end of the law for righteousness to (B)everyone who believes.

Faith Comes by Hearing

For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of law: “(C)The man who does these things shall live by them.” But (D)the righteousness of faith speaks in this way: “(E)Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will go up into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), or ‘Who will go down into the (F)abyss?’ (that is, to (G)bring Christ up from the dead).” But what does it say? “(H)The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, [b]that (I)if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and (J)believe in your heart that (K)God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, [c]leading to righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, [d]leading to salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “(L)Whoever believes upon Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For (M)there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is (N)Lord of (O)all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him, 13 for “(P)Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him (Q)whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without (R)a preacher? 15 And how will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “(S)How beautiful are the feet of those who (T)proclaim good news of good things!”

16 However, they (U)did not all heed the [e]good news, for Isaiah says, “(V)Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So faith comes from (W)hearing, and hearing by (X)the word [f]of Christ.

Matthew 23:29-39

29 (A)Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, 30 and say, ‘If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31 So you bear witness against yourselves, that you (B)are [a]sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of the guilt of your fathers. 33 You serpents, (C)you brood of vipers, how [b]will you escape the [c]sentence of [d](D)hell?

34 (E)On account of this, behold, (F)I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will (G)flog in your synagogues, and (H)persecute from city to city, 35 so that upon you may fall the guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous (I)Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the (J)son of Berechiah, whom (K)you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar. 36 Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon (L)this generation.

Lament over Jerusalem

37 (M)Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who (N)kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, (O)the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you did not want it. 38 Behold, (P)your house is being left to you desolate! 39 For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘(Q)Blessed is He who comes in the name of the [e]Lord!’”
