28 1 Being in great fear and heaviness of heart to see God dishonored by the wicked, he desireth to be rid of them. 4 And crieth for vengeance against them: and at length assureth himself, that God hath heard his prayer, 9 Unto whose tuition he commendeth all the faithful.
A Psalm of David.
1 Unto thee, O Lord, do I cry: O my strength, be not deaf toward me, lest if thou answer me not, I be like [a]them that go down into the pit.
2 Hear the voice of my petitions, when I cry unto thee, when I hold up my hands toward thine [b]holy Oracle.
3 [c]Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity: which speak friendly to their neighbors, when malice is in their hearts.
4 [d]Reward them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their inventions: recompense them after the work of their hands: render them their reward.
5 For they reward not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands: therefore [e]break them down, and build them not up.
6 [f]Praised be the Lord, for he hath heard the voice of my petitions.
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield: mine heart trusted in him, and I was helped: therefore mine heart shall rejoice, and with my song will I praise him.
8 The Lord is [g]their strength, and he is the strength of the deliverances of his anointed.
9 Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and exalt them forever.
30 1 When David was delivered, from great danger, he rendered thanks to God, exhorting others to do the like, and to learn by his example, that God is rather merciful than severe and rigorous towards his children. 7 And also that the fall from prosperity to adversity is sudden. 8 This done, he returneth to prayer, promising to praise God forever.

1 I will magnify thee, O Lord: [b]thou hast exalted me, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast [c]restored me.
3 O Lord, thou hast brought up my [d]soul out of the grave: thou hast revived me from them that go down into the pit.
4 Sing praises unto the Lord, ye [e]his Saints, and give thanks [f]before the remembrance of his Holiness.
5 (C)For he endureth but a while in his anger: but in his favor is life: weeping may abide at evening, but joy cometh in the morning.
6 And in my [g]prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.
7 For thou Lord of thy goodness hadst made my [h]mountain to stand strong: but thou didst hide thy face, and I [i]was troubled.
8 Then cried I unto thee, O Lord, and prayed to my Lord.
9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit! shall the [j]dust give thanks unto thee? or shall it declare thy truth?
10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou mine helper.
11 Thou hast turned my mourning into joy: thou hast loosed my sack, and girded me with gladness.
12 Therefore shall my [k]tongue praise thee and not cease: O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee forever.
17 ¶ And after the death of Jehoiada, came the [a]princes of Judah, and did reverence to the king, and the king hearkened unto them.
18 And they left the house of the Lord God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem, because of this their trespass.
19 And God sent Prophets among them, to bring them again unto the Lord: and they [b]made protestation among them, but they would not hear.
20 And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the Priest, which stood [c]above the people, and said unto them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the commandments of the Lord? surely ye shall not prosper: because ye have forsaken the Lord, he also hath forsaken you.
21 Then they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the [d]commandment of the king, in the court of the house of the Lord.
22 Thus Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, The Lord [e]look upon it and require it.
6 1 The Apostles, 3 appoint the office of Deaconship, 5 to seven chosen men: 8 Of whom Stephen, full of faith, is one: 12 He is taken, 13 and accused as a transgressor of Moses’ Law.
1 And [a]in those days, as the number of the disciples grew, there arose a murmuring of the [b]Grecians towards the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the [c]daily ministering.
2 [d]Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples together, and said, It is not [e]meet that we should leave the word of God to serve the [f]tables.
3 [g]Wherefore brethren, look you out among you seven men of honest report, and full of the holy Ghost, and of wisdom, which we may appoint to this business.
4 And we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministration of the word.
5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen a man full of faith and of the holy Ghost, and (A)Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a Proselyte of Antioch,
6 [h]Which they set before the Apostles: and they prayed, and [i]laid their hands on them.
7 [j]And the word of God increased, and the number of the disciples was multiplied in Jerusalem greatly, and a great company of the Priests were obedient to the [k]faith.
118 1 David rejected of Saul and of the people at the time appointed obtained the kingdom. 4 For the which he biddeth all them, that fear the Lord, to be thankful. And under his person in all this was Christ lively set forth, who should be of his people rejected.
1 Praise [a]ye the Lord, because he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.
2 Let Israel now say, That his mercy endureth forever.
3 Let the house of Aaron now say, That his mercy endureth forever.
4 Let them that fear the Lord, now say, That his mercy endureth forever.
5 I called upon the Lord in [b]trouble, and the Lord heard me, and set me at large.
6 The Lord is with me: therefore I will not fear what [c]man can do unto me.
7 The Lord is with me among them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon mine enemies.
8 It is better to trust in the Lord, than to have confidence [d]in man.
9 It is better to trust in the Lord, than to have confidence in princes.
10 All nations have compassed me: but in the Name of the Lord shall I destroy them.
11 They have compassed me, yea, they have compassed me: but in the Name of the Lord I shall destroy them.
12 They came about me like bees, but they were quenched as a fire of thorns: for in the Name of the Lord I shall destroy them.
13 [e]Thou hast thrust sore at me, that I might fall: but the Lord hath helped me.
14 The Lord is my strength and [f]song: for he hath been my deliverance.
15 The [g]voice of joy and deliverance shall be in the tabernacles of the righteous, saying, The right hand of the Lord hath done valiantly.
16 [h]The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord hath done valiantly.
17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
18 The Lord had chastened me sore, but he hath not delivered me to death.
19 Open ye unto me the [i]gates of righteousness, that I may go into them, and praise the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord: the righteous shall enter into it.
21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and hast been my deliverance.
22 (A)The stone, which the builders [j]refused, is the head of the corner.
23 This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes,
24 This is the [k]day, which the Lord hath made: let us rejoice and be glad in it.
25 [l]O Lord, I pray thee, save now: O Lord, I pray thee now give prosperity.
26 Blessed be he, that cometh in the Name of the Lord: [m]we have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.
27 The Lord is mighty, and hath given us [n]light: bind the sacrifice with cords unto the horns of the altar.
28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee, even my God: therefore I will exalt thee.
29 Praise ye the Lord, because he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.
59 And they stoned Stephen, who called on God, and said, Lord Jesus receive my spirit.
60 [a]And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, [b]lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had thus spoken, he [c]slept.
8 2 The godly make lamentation for Stephen. 3 Saul maketh havoc of the Church. 5 Philip preacheth Christ at Samaria. 9 Simon Magus, 13 his covetousness reproved. 26 Philip 27 cometh to the Ethiopian Eunuch, 38 and baptizeth him.
1 And [d]Saul consented to his death. And at that time, there was a great persecution against the Church which was at Jerusalem, and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and of Samaria, except the Apostles.
2 [e]Then certain men fearing God, [f]carried Stephen among them, to be buried, and made great lamentation for him.
3 [g]But Saul made havoc of the Church, and entered into every house, and drew out both men and women, and put them into prison.
4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad, went to and fro preaching the word.
5 ¶ [h]Then came Philip into the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
6 And the people gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, with one accord, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 For unclean spirits crying with a loud voice, came out of many that were possessed of them: and many taken with palsies, and that halted, were healed.
8 And there was great joy in that city.
