Psalm 30

You Have Turned My Mourning into Dancing

A Psalm. A Song at the Dedication of the House. Of David.

30 I will (A)exalt You, O Yahweh, for You have (B)lifted me up,
And have not let my (C)enemies be glad over me.
O Yahweh my God,
I (D)cried to You for help, and You (E)healed me.
O Yahweh, You have (F)brought up my soul from Sheol;
You have kept me alive, [a]that I would not (G)go down to the pit.
(H)Sing praise to Yahweh, you (I)His holy ones,
And (J)give thanks for the (K)remembrance of His holy name.
For (L)His anger is but for a moment,
His (M)favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may (N)last for the night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.

Now as for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I will (O)never be shaken.”
O Yahweh, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong;
You (P)hid Your face, I was dismayed.
To You, O Yahweh, I called,
And to the Lord I made supplication:
“What profit is there in my blood, if I (Q)go down to the pit?
Will the (R)dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth?

10 (S)Hear, O Yahweh, and be gracious to me;
O Yahweh, be my (T)helper.”
11 You have turned for me (U)my mourning into dancing;
You have (V)loosed my sackcloth and girded me with (W)gladness,
12 That my [b](X)glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Yahweh my God, I will (Y)give thanks to You forever.

Psalm 32

You Forgave the Iniquity of My Sin

Of David. A [a]Maskil.

32 (A)How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered!
How blessed is the man whose iniquity Yahweh (B)will not take into account,
And in whose spirit there is (C)no deceit!

When (D)I kept silent about my sin, (E)my [b]bones wasted away
Through my [c](F)groaning all day long.
For day and night (G)Your hand was heavy upon me;
My [d](H)vitality was drained away as with the heat of summer. [e]Selah.
I (I)acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I (J)did not cover up;
I said, “(K)I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh;”
And You (L)forgave the [f]iniquity of my sin. Selah.
Therefore, let every holy one pray to You [g](M)at a time when You may be found;
Surely (N)in a flood of great waters they will not reach him.
You are (O)my hiding place; You (P)guard me from trouble;
You surround me with [h](Q)songs of deliverance. Selah.

I will (R)give you insight and teach you in the way which you should go;
I will counsel you (S)with My eye upon you.
Do not be (T)as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding,
Whose harness are bit and bridle to control them,
Otherwise they will not come near you.
10 Many are the (U)sorrows of the wicked,
But (V)he who trusts in Yahweh, lovingkindness shall surround him.
11 Be (W)glad in Yahweh and rejoice, you righteous ones;
And shout for joy, all you who are (X)upright in heart.

Psalm 42-43

BOOK 2

My Soul Thirsts for God

For the choir director. A [a]Maskil of the sons of Korah.

42 As the deer [b]pants for the water brooks,
So my soul [c](A)pants for You, O God.
My soul (B)thirsts for God, for the (C)living God;
When shall I come and [d](D)appear before God?
My (E)tears have been my food day and night,
While they (F)say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
These things I remember and I (G)pour out my soul within me.
For I (H)used to go along with the throng and [e]lead them in procession to the house of God,
With the sound of a (I)shout of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival.

(J)Why are you [f](K)in despair, O my soul?
And why are you (L)disturbed within me?
(M)Wait for God, for I shall still praise Him,
[g]For the [h](N)salvation of His presence.
O my God, my soul is [i]in despair within me;
Therefore I (O)remember You from (P)the land of the Jordan
And the [j]peaks of (Q)Hermon, from Mount Mizar.
Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls;
All Your (R)breakers and Your waves have rolled over me.
By day, Yahweh will (S)command His lovingkindness;
And (T)by night, His song will be with me,
A prayer to (U)the God of my life.

I say to God (V)my rock, “Why have You forgotten me?
Why do I go (W)mourning [k]because of the (X)oppression of the enemy?”
10 As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries reproach me,
While they (Y)say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
11 (Z)Why are you [l]in despair, O my soul?
And why are you disturbed within me?
Wait for God, for I shall still praise Him,
The salvation of my presence and my God.

Send Out Your Light and Your Truth

43 (AA)Give justice to me, O God, and (AB)plead my case against an unholy nation;
[m]Oh protect me from (AC)the deceitful and unrighteous man!
For You are the (AD)God of my strength; why have You (AE)rejected me?
Why do I go (AF)mourning [n]because of the oppression of the enemy?

Oh send out Your (AG)light and Your truth, let them lead me;
Let them bring me to Your (AH)holy mountain
And to Your (AI)dwelling places.
Then I will go to (AJ)the altar of God,
To God [o]my exceeding (AK)joy;
And upon the (AL)lyre I shall praise You, O God, my God.

(AM)Why are you [p]in despair, O my soul?
And why are you disturbed within me?
Wait for God, for I shall still praise Him,
The salvation of my presence and my God.

Job 22:1-4

Eliphaz Says Job Must Repent

22 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

“Can a mighty (A)man be of use to God,
Or an insightful man be useful to himself?
Is there any pleasure to [a]the Almighty if you are righteous,
Or profit if you make your ways perfect?
Is it because of your reverent fear that He reproves you,
That He (B)enters into judgment against you?

Job 22:21-23:7

21 [a](A)Yield now and be at peace with Him;
Thereby good will come to you.
22 Please receive [b](B)instruction from His mouth
And set His words in your heart.
23 If you (C)return to [c]the Almighty, you will be [d]restored;
If you (D)remove unrighteousness far from your tent,
24 And (E)put your [e]gold in the dust,
And the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks,
25 Then [f]the Almighty will be your [g]gold
And choice silver to you.
26 For then you will (F)delight in [h]the Almighty
And lift up your face to God.
27 You will (G)entreat Him, and (H)He will hear you;
And you will pay your vows.
28 You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you;
And (I)light will shine on your ways.
29 When [i]some are cast down, you will speak with [j]confidence,
And the [k](J)humble person He will save.
30 He will provide escape for one who is not innocent,
And he will (K)escape through the cleanness of your hands.”

Where Is God?

23 Then Job answered and said,

“Even today my (L)musing is rebellion;
[l]His hand is (M)heavy despite my groaning.
Oh that I knew where I might find Him,
That I might come to His seat!
I would (N)arrange my case for justice before Him
And fill my mouth with arguments.
I would know the words which He would [m]answer,
And discern what He would say to me.
Would He contend with me by (O)the greatness of His power?
No, surely He would pay attention to me.
There the upright would (P)argue with Him;
And I [n]would have (Q)escaped forever from my Judge.

Acts 13:26-43

26 “Brothers, sons of Abraham’s family, and those among you who fear God, to us the word of (A)this salvation was sent. 27 For those who live in Jerusalem, and their (B)rulers, (C)recognizing neither Him nor the [a]utterances of (D)the prophets which are (E)read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning Him. 28 And though they found no ground for death, they (F)asked Pilate that He be [b]executed. 29 And when they had (G)finished all that was written concerning Him, (H)they took Him down from (I)the tree and (J)laid Him in a tomb. 30 But God (K)raised Him from the dead; 31 and for many days (L)He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very ones who are now (M)His witnesses to the people. 32 And we (N)proclaim to you the good news of (O)the promise made to the fathers, 33 that God has fulfilled this promise [c]to our children in that He (P)raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, ‘(Q)You are My Son; today I have begotten You.’ 34 But that He (R)raised Him up from the dead, no longer to return to corruption, He has spoken in this way: ‘(S)I will give you the holy and [d]faithful lovingkindnesses of David.’ 35 Therefore He also says in another Psalm, ‘(T)You will not give Your [e]Holy One over to see corruption.’ 36 For (U)David, after he had [f]served (V)the purpose of God in his own generation, (W)fell asleep and was laid among his fathers and saw corruption; 37 but He whom God (X)raised did not see corruption. 38 Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that (Y)through [g]Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, 39 and that in Him, (Z)everyone who believes is justified from all things which you could not be justified from [h]through the Law of Moses. 40 Therefore watch out, so that the thing spoken of (AA)in the Prophets may not come upon you:

41 (AB)Look, you scoffers, and marvel, and [i]perish;
For I am accomplishing a work in your days,
A work which you will never believe, though someone should recount it to you.’”

42 And as [j]Paul and Barnabas were leaving, the people kept pleading that these words might be spoken to them the next (AC)Sabbath. 43 Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the (AD)God-fearing [k](AE)proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in (AF)the grace of God.

John 10:1-18

I Am the Good Shepherd

10 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is (A)a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is (B)a shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear (C)his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and (D)leads them out. When he brings all his own out, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know (E)his voice. A stranger they will never follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know (F)the voice of strangers.” This (G)figure of speech Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them.

So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am (H)the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are (I)thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. (J)I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they (K)may have life, and [a]have it abundantly.

11 (L)I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd (M)lays down His life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hired hand, and not a (N)shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees—and the wolf snatches and scatters them— 13 because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep. 14 (O)I am the good shepherd, and (P)I know My own and My own know Me, 15 even as (Q)the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and (R)I lay down My life for the sheep. 16 And I have (S)other sheep, which are not from this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become (T)one flock with (U)one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves Me, because I (V)lay down My life so that I may take it again. 18 (W)No one [b]takes it away from Me, but from Myself, I (X)lay it down. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. (Y)This commandment I received from My Father.”
