A Psalm of David.
24 The (A)earth is the Lord’s, and [a]all it contains,
The (B)world, and those who live in it.
2 For He has (C)founded it upon the seas
And established it upon the rivers.
3 Who may (D)ascend onto the (E)hill of the Lord?
And who may stand in His holy (F)place?
4 One who has (G)clean hands and a (H)pure heart,
Who has not (I)lifted up his soul to deceit
And has not (J)sworn deceitfully.
5 He will receive a (K)blessing from the Lord
And [b](L)righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 [c]This is the generation of those who (M)seek Him,
Who seek Your face—even Jacob. Selah
7 (N)Lift up your heads, you gates,
And be lifted up, you [d]ancient doors,
That the King of (O)glory may come in!
8 Who is the King of glory?
The Lord (P)strong and mighty,
The Lord (Q)mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, you gates,
And lift them up, you [e]ancient doors,
That the King of (R)glory may come in!
10 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of (S)armies,
He is the King of glory. Selah

29 (A)Ascribe to the Lord, [a]sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory [b]due His name;
Worship the Lord (B)in holy attire.
3 The (C)voice of the Lord is on the waters;
The God of glory (D)thunders,
The Lord is over [c](E)many waters.
4 The voice of the Lord is (F)powerful,
The voice of the Lord is majestic.
5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
Yes, the Lord breaks (G)the cedars of Lebanon in pieces.
6 He makes Lebanon (H)skip like a calf,
And (I)Sirion like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of the Lord divides [d]flames of fire.
8 The voice of the Lord [e]shakes the wilderness;
The Lord shakes the wilderness of (J)Kadesh.
9 The voice of the Lord makes (K)the deer give birth
And strips the forests bare;
And (L)in His temple everything says, “Glory!”

8 Lord, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth,
You who have [a](A)displayed Your splendor above the heavens!
2 (B)From the mouths of infants and nursing babies You have established [b](C)strength
Because of Your enemies,
To do away with (D)the enemy and the revengeful.
3 When I [c](E)consider (F)Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The (G)moon and the stars, which You have set in place;
4 (H)What is man that You think of him,
And a son of man that You are concerned about him?
5 Yet You have made him a (I)little lower than [d]God,
And (J)You crown him with (K)glory and majesty!
6 You have him (L)rule over the works of Your hands;
You have (M)put everything under his feet,
7 All sheep and oxen,
And also the animals of the field,
8 The birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea,
Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

How majestic is Your name in all the earth!

84 How lovely are Your (A)dwelling places,
Lord of armies!
2 My (B)soul longed and even yearned for the courtyards of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the (C)living God.
3 The bird also has found a house,
And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may put her young:
Your (D)altars, Lord of armies,
(E)My King and my God.
4 (F)Blessed are those who dwell in Your house!
They are (G)ever praising You. Selah
5 Blessed is the person whose (H)strength is in You,
In [b]whose heart are the (I)roads to Zion!
6 Passing through the Valley of [c]Baca they make it a [d]spring;
The (J)early rain also covers it with blessings.
7 They (K)go from strength to strength,
[e]Every one of them (L)appears before God in Zion.
8 (M)Lord God of armies, hear my prayer;
Listen, (N)God of Jacob! Selah
9 See our (O)shield, God,
And look at the face of (P)Your anointed.
10 For (Q)a day in Your courtyards is better than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God
Than live in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is (R)a sun and (S)shield;
The Lord gives grace and (T)glory;
(U)He withholds no good thing [f]from those who walk with integrity.
12 Lord of armies,
(V)Blessed is the person who trusts in You!
8 So he arose and ate and drank, and he journeyed in the strength of that food for (A)forty days and forty nights to (B)Horeb, the mountain of God.
Elijah at Horeb
9 Then he came there to a cave and spent the night there; and behold, (C)the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 10 And he said, “(D)I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of armies; for the sons of Israel have abandoned Your covenant, (E)torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. And (F)I alone am left; and they have sought to take my life.”
11 So He said, “(G)Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord was passing by! And (H)a great and powerful wind was tearing out the mountains and breaking the rocks in pieces before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake, a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire, (I)a sound of a gentle blowing. 13 When Elijah heard it, (J)he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, (K)a voice came to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 14 Then he said, “(L)I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of armies; for the sons of Israel have abandoned Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they have sought to take my life.”
15 The Lord said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus; and when you have arrived, (M)you shall anoint Hazael king over Aram. 16 You shall also anoint (N)Jehu the son of Nimshi king over Israel; and you shall anoint (O)Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah as prophet in your place. 17 And it shall come about that the (P)one who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu (Q)shall put to death, and the one who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall put to death. 18 (R)Yet I will leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not (S)kissed him.”
19 So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat while he was plowing, with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he with the twelfth. And Elijah came over to him and threw (T)his cloak on him. 20 Then he left the oxen behind and ran after Elijah, and said, “Please (U)let me kiss my father and my mother, then I will follow you.” And he said to him, “Go back, for [a]what have I done to you?” 21 So he returned from following him, and took the pair of oxen and sacrificed them, and (V)cooked their meat with the implements of the oxen, and gave it to the people and they ate. Then he got up and followed Elijah and served him.
34 But a Pharisee named (A)Gamaliel, a (B)teacher of the Law, respected by all the people, stood up in (C)the Council and gave orders to put the men outside for a short time. 35 And he said to them, “Men of Israel, be careful as to what you are about to do with these men. 36 For, some time ago Theudas appeared, (D)claiming to be somebody, and a group of about four hundred men joined him. [a]But he was killed, and all who followed him were dispersed and came to nothing. 37 After this man, Judas of Galilee appeared in the days of (E)the census and drew away some people after him; he also perished, and all those who followed him were scattered. 38 And so in the present case, I say to you, stay away from these men and leave them alone, for if the source of this plan or [b]movement (F)is men, it will be overthrown; 39 but if the source is God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may even be found (G)fighting against God.”
40 They followed his advice; and after calling the apostles in, they (H)flogged them and ordered them not to [c]speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them. 41 So they went on their way from the presence of the [d](I)Council, (J)rejoicing that they had been considered worthy to suffer shame (K)for His name. 42 (L)And every day, in the temple and [e]from house to house, they did not stop teaching and (M)preaching the good news of Jesus as the [f]Christ.
45 (A)Therefore many of the Jews (B)who came to Mary, and (C)saw what He had done, believed in Him. 46 But some of them went to the (D)Pharisees and told them the things which Jesus had done.
Conspiracy to Kill Jesus
47 Therefore (E)the chief priests and the Pharisees (F)convened a (G)council meeting, and they were saying, “What are we [a]doing in regard to the fact that this Man is performing many [b](H)signs?
