Galatians 3:23-4:7

23 Before faith came, we were kept and shut up under the law, with a view to the faith that would afterward be declared. 24 Therefore the law was our schoolmaster to the time of Christ, so that we may be made righteous by faith. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26 For you are all the sons of God by the faith which is in Christ Jesus. 27 For all you who are baptized have put on Christ. 28 Now there is neither Jew nor Gentile, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither man nor woman, but you are all one thing in Christ Jesus. 29 If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs by promise.

Paul shows that through Christ we are delivered from the law, and he rebukes the unthankfulness of the Galatians.

And I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ from a servant, though he be lord of all, but is under tutors and managers until the time appointed by the father. Likewise we, as long as we were children, were in bondage under the ordinances of the world. But when the time was full come, God sent his Son, born of a woman and made bond to the law, to redeem those who were under the law, in order that we through election could receive the inheritance that belongs to the natural sons. Because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, who cries, Abba, Father! Therefore now you are not a servant, but a son. If you are a son, you are also the heir of God through Christ.

John 8:12-20

12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. 13 The Pharisees said to him, You bear witness of yourself; your witness is not true.

14 Jesus answered and said to them, Though I bear witness of myself, yet my witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you do not know where I come from or where I am going. 15 You judge after the flesh. I judge no one; 16 and yet if I do judge, my judgment is true. For I am not alone, but it is I and the Father who sent me. 17 It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. 18 I am one who bears witness of myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness of me.

19 Then they said to him, Where is your father?

Jesus answered, You know neither me, nor yet my Father. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also.

20 These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple. And no man laid hands on him, for his time was not yet come.
