Hallelujah!
17 Your eyes will see the King in His beauty;(A)
you will see a vast land.(B)
18 Your mind will meditate on the past terror:
“Where is the accountant?[a]
Where is the tribute collector?[b]
Where is the one who spied out our defenses?”[c]
19 You will no longer see the barbarians,
a people whose speech is difficult to comprehend—
who stammer in a language that is not understood.(C)
20 Look at Zion, the city of our festival times.
Your eyes will see Jerusalem,
a peaceful pasture,(D) a tent that does not wander;
its tent pegs will not be pulled up
nor will any of its cords be loosened.(E)
21 For the majestic One, our Lord, will be there,(F)
a place of rivers and broad streams
where ships that are rowed will not go,
and majestic vessels will not pass.(G)
22 For the Lord is our Judge,
the Lord is our lawgiver,(H)
the Lord is our King.
He will save us.(I)
The Time Is Near
6 Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.(A) And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets,[a] has sent His angel to show His slaves what must quickly take place.”[b](B)
7 “Look, I am coming quickly!(C) The one who keeps the prophetic words of this book is blessed.”(D)
8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. When I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown them to me. 9 But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow slave with you, your brothers the prophets, and those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”(E) 10 He also said to me, “Don’t seal the prophetic words of this book, because the time is near.(F) 11 Let the unrighteous go on in unrighteousness; let the filthy go on being made filthy; let the righteous go on in righteousness; and let the holy go on being made holy.”(G)
18 I testify to everyone who hears the prophetic words of this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book. 19 And if anyone takes away from the words of this prophetic book, God will take away his share of the tree of life and the holy city, written in this book.(A)
20 He who testifies about these things(B) says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.”
Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!(C)
The Birth and Naming of John
57 Now the time had come for Elizabeth to give birth, and she had a son. 58 Then her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her His great mercy,[a](A) and they rejoiced with her.
59 When they came to circumcise the child on the eighth day,(B) they were going to name him Zechariah, after his father. 60 But his mother responded, “No! He will be called John.”(C)
61 Then they said to her, “None of your relatives has that name.” 62 So they motioned to his father(D) to find out what he wanted him to be called. 63 He asked for a writing tablet and wrote:
HIS NAME IS JOHN.
And they were all amazed. 64 Immediately his mouth was opened(E) and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God. 65 Fear came on all those who lived around them, and all these things were being talked about throughout the hill country of Judea. 66 All who heard about him(F) took it to heart, saying, “What then will this child become?” For, indeed, the Lord’s hand was with him.
