Book of Common Prayer
And he said to me, These sayings are faithful and true. And the Lord God of the saints and prophets sent his angel to show to his servants the things that must shortly be fulfilled.
Behold, I come shortly. Happy is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.
I am John, who saw these things and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel that showed me these things. 9 And he said to me, See you do it not. For I am your fellow servant, and the fellow servant of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the sayings of this book. But worship God.
And he said to me, Do not seal up the sayings of the prophecy of this book. For the time is at hand.
He who does evil, let him do evil still; and he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he who is righteous, let him be more righteous; and he who is holy, let him be more holy.
I testify to everyone that hears the words of prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book. 19 And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from those things which are written in this book.
He who testifies to these things says, Be it, I come quickly.
Amen. Even so. Come, Lord Jesus!
Elizabeth’s time came to be delivered, and she brought forth a son. 58 And her neighbours and her relatives heard how the Lord had shown great mercy upon her, and they rejoiced with her.
And when it was the eighth day, they came to circumcise the child, and were calling him by the name Zacharias, after his father. 60 However his mother spoke and said, Not so, but he shall be called John. 61 And they said to her, There is no one in your family called by this name.
And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. 63 And he asked for writing tablets and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they all marvelled. 64 And Zacharias’ mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue also, and he spoke, lauding God.
And awe came on all those who dwelt near to them. And also these stories were spread abroad throughout all the hill country of Judea, 66 and everyone who heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child will this be? And the hand of the Lord was with him.
