Psalm 106

106 1 The people dispersed under Antiochus, do magnify the goodness of God among the just and repentant:  4 Desiring to be brought again into the land by God’s merciful visitation. 8 And after the manifold marvels of God wrought in their deliverance forth of Egypt, And the great ingratitude of the people rehearsed. 47 They do pray and desire to be gathered from among the heathen, to the intent that they may praise the Name of the God of Israel.

Praise ye the Lord.

Praise [a]ye the Lord because he is good, for his mercy endureth forever.

Who can express the noble acts of the Lord, or show forth all his praise?

Blessed are they that [b]keep judgment, and do righteousness at all times.

Remember me, O Lord, with the [c]favor of thy people: visit me with thy salvation,

That I may see the felicity of thy chosen, and rejoice in the joy of thy people, and glory with thine inheritance.

We have [d]sinned with our fathers: we have committed iniquity, and done wickedly.

Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt, neither remembered they the multitude of thy mercies, but rebelled at the Sea, even at the red sea.

Nevertheless he [e]saved them for his Name’s sake, that he might make his power to be known.

And he rebuked the red sea, and it was dried up, and he led them in the deep, as in the wilderness.

10 And he saved them from the adversary’s hand, and delivered them from the hand of the enemy.

11 (A)And the waters covered their oppressors: not one of them was left.

12 Then [f]believed they his words, and sang praise unto him.

13 But incontinently they forgat his works, they waited not for his [g]counsel,

14 But lusted with concupiscence in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

15 Then he gave them their desire: but he sent [h]leanness into their soul.

16 They envied Moses also in the tents, and Aaron the holy one of the Lord.

17 Therefore the earth opened and [i]swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.

18 And the fire was kindled in their assembly: the flame burnt up the wicked.

19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.

20 Thus they turned their [j]glory into the similitude of a bullock, that eateth grass.

21 They forgat God their Savior, which had done great things in Egypt,

22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and fearful things by the red sea.

23 Therefore he minded to destroy them, had [k]not Moses his chosen stood in the breach before him to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

24 Also they contemned [l]that pleasant land, and believed not his word,

25 But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord.

26 Therefore [m]he lifted up his hand against them, to destroy them in the wilderness,

27 And to destroy their seed among the nations, and to scatter them throughout the countries.

28 They joined themselves also unto [n]Baal of Peor, and did eat the offerings of the [o]dead.

29 Thus they [p]provoked him unto anger with their own inventions, and the plague brake in upon them.

30 But [q]Phinehas stood up, and executed judgment, and the plague was stayed.

31 (B)And it was [r]imputed unto him for righteousness from generation to generation forever.

32 They angered him also at the waters of (C)Meribah, so that [s]Moses was punished for their sakes,

33 Because they vexed his Spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

34 Neither destroyed they the people, as the Lord had commanded them,

35 But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works,

36 And served their idols, which were their ruin.

37 Yea, they offered their [t]sons, and their daughters unto devils,

38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons, and of their daughters whom they offered unto the idols of Canaan, and the land was defiled with blood.

39 Thus were they stained with their own works, and went [u]a whoring with their own inventions.

40 Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, and he abhorred his own inheritance.

41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen: and they that hated them were lords over them.

42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were humbled under their hand.

43 Many [v]a time did he deliver them, but they provoked him by their counsels: therefore they were brought down by their iniquity.

44 Yet he saw when they were in affliction, and he heard their cry.

45 And he remembered his covenant toward them, and [w]repented according to the multitude of his mercies,

46 And gave them favor in the sight of all them that led them captives.

47 Save us, O Lord our God, and [x]gather us from among the heathen, that we may praise thine holy Name, and glory in thy praise.

48 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel forever and ever, and let all the people say, So be it. Praise ye the Lord.

Proverbs 3:11-20

11 ¶ My son, refuse not the chastening of the Lord, neither be grieved with his correction.

12 (A)For the Lord correcteth him, whom he loveth, even as the father doth the child, in whom he delighteth.

13 Blessed is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

14 For the merchandise thereof is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof is better than gold.

15 It is more precious than pearls: and all things that thou canst desire, are not to be compared unto her.

16 Length of days is in her right hand, [a]and in her right hand riches and glory.

17 Her ways are ways of pleasure, and all her paths prosperity.

18 She is a tree [b]of life to them that lay hold on her, and blessed is he that retaineth her.

19 The Lord by wisdom hath laid the [c]foundation of the earth, and hath stablished the heavens through understanding.

20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

1 John 3:18-4:6

18 [a]My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue only, but in deed and in truth.

19 [b]For thereby we know that we are of the truth, [c]and shall before him assure our hearts.

20 For [d]if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

21 [e]Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we boldness toward God.

22 (A)[f]And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things which are pleasing in his sight.

23 (B)This is then his commandment, that we believe in the Name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave commandment.

24 (C)For he that keepeth his commandments, dwelleth in him, and he in him: and hereby we know that he abideth in us, even by that [g]Spirit which he hath given us.

1 Having spoken somewhat touching the trying of spirits: 4 For some speak after the world, 5 and some after God. 7 He returneth to charity, 11, 19 and by the example of God he exhorteth to brotherly love.

Dearly [h]beloved, believe not every [i]spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: for many false Prophets are gone out into the world.

[j]Hereby shall ye know the Spirit of God, [k]Every spirit which confesseth that [l]Jesus Christ is come in the [m]flesh is of God.

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not of God: but this is the spirit of Antichrist, of whom ye have heard, how that he should come, and now already he is in this world.

[n]Little children, ye are of God, and have overcome them: for greater is he that is in you, than he that is in this world.

[o]They are of this world, therefore spake they of this world, and this world heareth them.

[p]We are of God, (D)he that knoweth God, heareth us: he that is not of God heareth us not. Hereby know we the [q]Spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

John 11:17-29

17 ¶ Then came Jesus, and found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

18 (Now Bethany was near unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off.)

19 [a]And many of the Jews were come to Martha and Mary to comfort them for their brother.

20 Then Martha, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet him: but Mary sat still in the house.

21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not been dead.

22 But now I know also, that whatsoever thou askest of God, God will give it thee.

23 Jesus said unto her, Thy brother shall [b]rise again.

24 Martha said unto him, I know that he shall rise again (A)in the resurrection at the last day.

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: (B)he that believeth in me, though he were dead yet shall he live.

26 And whosoever liveth, and believeth in me, shall never die: Believest thou this?

27 She said unto him, Yea, Lord, I believe that thou art that Christ that Son of God, which should come into the world.

28 ¶ And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.

29 And when she heard it, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
