Book of Common Prayer
9 And when those creatures gave glory and honour and thanks to him who sat on the seat, who lives forever and ever, 10 the 24 elders fell down before him who sat on the throne and worshipped him who lives forever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11 You are worthy, Lord, to receive glory and honour and power, for you have created all things, and for your will’s sake they exist and were created.
He sees the Lamb taking the scroll to open it, and for this the four living creatures, the 24 elders, and the angels, praise the Lamb and worship him.
5 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat in the throne a scroll written within and on the back side, sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a strong angel who cried with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose the seals thereof? 3 And no man in heaven or on earth, nor under the earth, was able to open the scroll, nor to look on it. 4 And I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and to read the scroll, neither to look on it.
5 And one of the elders said to me, Weep not! Behold, a lion being of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose the seven seals thereof.
The ten virgins, the talents delivered to the servants, and of the general judgment.
25 Then the kingdom of heaven will be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3 The foolish took their lamps, but took no oil with them. 4 But the wise took oil with them in their vessels, with their lamps also.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, all slumbered and slept. 6 And right at midnight there was a cry made: Behold, the bridegroom comes! Go out to meet him! 7 Then all those virgins arose and prepared their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so, lest there not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came. And those who were ready went in with him to the wedding, and the gate was shut up. 11 Afterwards came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us! 12 But he answered and said, Truly I say to you, I know you not.
13 Watch, therefore. For you know neither the day nor yet the hour when the Son of man will come.
