Psalm 66

Psalm 66

For the Music Director. A Song. A Psalm.

Shout joyfully to God, all you lands!
    Sing out the glory of His name;
    make His praise glorious.
Say to God, “How awesome are Your works!
    Through the greatness of Your power
    Your enemies cringe before You.
All the earth will worship You
    and will sing to You;
    they will sing to Your name.” Selah

Come and see the works of God;
    He is awesome in His doings toward mankind.
He turned the sea into dry land;
    they crossed the river on foot;
    there we rejoiced in Him.
He rules by His power forever;
    His eyes keep watch on the nations;
    do not let the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah

Oh, bless our God, you people,
    and make the voice of His praise to be heard,
who keeps our soul among the living,
    and does not allow our feet to slip.
10 For You, O God, have proved us;
    You have refined us, as silver is refined.
11 You brought us into the net;
    You placed distress on our backs.
12 You have allowed people to ride over our heads;
    we went through fire and through water;
    but You brought us out into a well-watered place.

13 I will go into Your house with burnt offerings;
    I will fulfill my vows to You,
14 which my lips have uttered,
    and my mouth spoke when I was in trouble.
15 I will offer You burnt sacrifices of fat animals,
    with the incense of rams;
    I will offer bulls with goats. Selah

16 Come and hear, all you who fear God,
    and I will declare what He has done for my soul.
17 I cried to Him with my mouth,
    and He was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart,
    the Lord will not hear me;
19 but certainly God has heard me;
    He has attended to the voice of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God,
    who has not turned away my prayer,
    nor His mercy from me.

Ezekiel 2:1-7

The Call of Ezekiel

Then He said to me: Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak to you! When He spoke to me, the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet. Then I heard Him speaking to me.

And He said to me: Son of man, I send you to the sons of Israel, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against Me. They and their fathers have transgressed against Me even to this very day. And as for the impudent and obstinate children, I am sending you to them. And you shall say to them, “Thus says the Lord God.” As for them, whether they listen or not (for they are a rebellious house), they shall know that there has been a prophet among them. And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with you, and you dwell among scorpions. Do not be afraid of their words or be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. You shall speak My words to them, whether they listen or not, for they are rebellious.

Acts 11:1-18

Peter’s Report to the Church in Jerusalem

11 The apostles and the brothers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, those who were circumcised disputed with him, saying, “You went in and ate with uncircumcised men!”

Peter began explaining it to them in order, saying, “I was in the city of Joppa praying. And in a trance I saw a vision: A vessel like a great sheet was descending, let down from heaven by four corners, and it came to me. I considered what I had observed and saw four-footed creatures and wild beasts and reptiles and birds of the air. Then I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter; kill and eat.’

“I said, ‘Not at all, Lord. For nothing common or unclean has at any time entered my mouth.’

“The voice answered from heaven a second time, ‘What God has cleansed, do not call common.’ 10 This happened three times. And again everything was taken up into heaven.

11 “And immediately three men sent from Caesarea to me came to the house where I was. 12 The Spirit told me to go with them without hesitation. Moreover these six brothers came with me, and we entered the man’s house. 13 He told us how he had seen an angel in his house, who stood and said to him, ‘Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon whose surname is Peter. 14 He will speak words to you by which you and all your household will be saved.’

15 “As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them, as He fell on us at the beginning. 16 Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, ‘John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’[a] 17 If then God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to be able to hinder God?”

18 When they heard these things, they were silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then God has granted to the Gentiles also repentance unto life.”

Psalm 97

Psalm 97

The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice;
    let the many coastlands be glad!
Clouds and darkness are all around Him;
    righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
A fire goes before Him
    and burns up His enemies all around.
His lightning bolts light up the world;
    the earth sees and shakes.
The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord,
    at the presence of the Lord of the earth.
The heavens declare His righteousness,
    and all the peoples see His glory.

All who serve graven images are ashamed,
    who boast in worthless idols;
    worship Him, all you gods.

Zion hears and is glad,
    and the daughters of Judah rejoice
    because of Your judgments, O Lord.
For You, O Lord, are Most High above all the earth;
    You are exalted far above all gods.
10 You who love the Lord, hate evil!
    He preserves the lives of His devoted ones;
    He delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light goes out for the righteous,
    and gladness for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous,
    and give thanks at the memory of His holy name.

Psalm 138

Psalm 138

A Psalm of David.

I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart;
    before the gods I will sing Your praise.
I will worship toward Your holy temple,
    and praise Your name
    for Your lovingkindness and for Your truth;
for You have exalted Your word
    above all Your name.
On the day I called, You answered me,
    and strengthened me in my soul.

All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O Lord,
    for they have heard the words of Your mouth.
Indeed, they shall sing of the ways of the Lord,
    for great is the glory of the Lord.

Though the Lord is exalted, yet He has concern for the lowly,
    but the proud one He knows from a distance.
Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
    You will preserve me;
You stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
    and Your right hand saves me.
The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me;
    Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever;
    do not forsake the works of Your hands.

Galatians 2:1-9

Paul Accepted by the Other Apostles

Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas and also took Titus with me. I went up in response to a revelation and communicated to them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles. But privately I communicated to those who were of reputation, in case I might be running, or had run, in vain. But even Titus, who was with me, though he was a Greek, was not compelled to be circumcised. This happened because false brothers were secretly brought in, who sneaked in to spy out our liberty, which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage. We did not yield to subjection to them, not for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

But of these who seemed to be something—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality to anyone—for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me. On the contrary, they saw that I was entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, as the gospel to the circumcised was to Peter. For He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles. When James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, understood the grace that was given to me, they gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.
