Psalm 20-21

Prayer for victory over enemies.

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

20 Jehovah answer thee in the day of trouble;
The name of the God of Jacob set thee up on high;
Send thee help from the sanctuary,
And [a]strengthen thee out of Zion;
Remember all thy [b]offerings,
And [c]accept thy burnt-sacrifice; Selah
Grant thee thy heart’s desire,
And fulfil all thy counsel.
We will triumph in thy [d]salvation,
And in the name of our God we will set up our banners:
Jehovah fulfil all thy petitions.
Now know I that Jehovah saveth his anointed;
He will answer him from his holy heaven
With the saving strength of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses;
But we will make mention of the name of Jehovah our God.
They are bowed down and fallen;
But we are risen, and stand upright.
Save, Jehovah:
Let the King answer us when we call.

Praise for deliverance.

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

21 The king shall joy in thy strength, O Jehovah;
And in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
Thou hast given him his heart’s desire,
And hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah
For thou meetest him with the blessings of [e]goodness:
Thou settest a crown of fine gold on his head.
He asked life of thee, thou gavest it him,
Even length of days for ever and ever.
His glory is great in thy salvation:
Honor and majesty dost thou lay upon him.
For thou [f]makest him most blessed for ever:
Thou makest him glad with joy in thy presence.
For the king trusteth in Jehovah;
And through the lovingkindness of the Most High he shall not be moved.
Thy hand will find out all thine enemies;
Thy right hand will find out those that hate thee.
Thou wilt make them as a fiery furnace in the time of thine [g]anger:
Jehovah will swallow them up in his wrath,
And the fire shall devour them.
10 Their fruit wilt thou destroy from the earth,
And their seed from among the children of men.
11 For they intended evil against thee;
They conceived a device which they are not able to perform.
12 For thou wilt make them turn their back;
Thou wilt make ready with thy bowstrings against their face.
13 Be thou exalted, O Jehovah, in thy strength:
So will we sing and praise thy power.

Psalm 110

Jehovah gives dominion to the king.

A Psalm of David.

110 Jehovah saith unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand,
Until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Jehovah will [a]send forth the [b]rod of thy strength out of Zion:
Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.
Thy people [c]offer themselves willingly
In the day of thy [d]power, [e]in holy array:
Out of the womb of the morning
[f]Thou hast the dew of thy youth.
Jehovah hath sworn, and will not repent:
Thou art a priest for ever
After the [g]order of Melchizedek.
The Lord at thy right hand
[h]Will strike through kings in the day of his wrath.
He will judge among the nations,
[i]He [j]will fill the places with dead bodies;
He [k]will strike through the head [l]in many countries.
He will drink of the brook in the way:
Therefore will he lift up the head.

Psalm 116-117

Thanksgiving for deliverance from death.

116 I love Jehovah, because he heareth
My voice and my supplications.
Because he hath inclined his ear unto me,
Therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
The cords of death compassed me,
And the pains of Sheol [a]gat hold upon me:
I found trouble and sorrow.
Then called I upon the name of Jehovah:
O Jehovah, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
Gracious is Jehovah, and righteous;
Yea, our God is merciful.
Jehovah preserveth the simple:
I was brought low, and he saved me.
Return unto thy rest, O my soul;
For Jehovah hath dealt bountifully with thee.
For thou hast delivered my soul from death,
Mine eyes from tears,
And my feet from falling.
I will walk before Jehovah
In the [b]land of the living.
10 I [c]believe, for I will speak:
I was greatly afflicted:
11 I said in my [d]haste,
All men are liars.
12 What shall I render unto Jehovah
For all his benefits toward me?
13 I will take the cup of salvation,
And call upon the name of Jehovah.
14 I will pay my vows unto Jehovah,
Yea, in the presence of all his people.
15 Precious in the sight of Jehovah
Is the death of his saints.
16 O Jehovah, truly I am thy servant:
I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid;
Thou hast loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And will call upon the name of Jehovah.
18 I will pay my vows unto Jehovah,
Yea, in the presence of all his people,
19 In the courts of Jehovah’s house,
In the midst of thee, O Jerusalem.
[e]Praise ye Jehovah.

A psalm of praise.

117 Oh praise Jehovah, all ye nations;
Laud him, all ye peoples.
For his lovingkindness is great toward us;
And the truth of Jehovah endureth for ever.
[f]Praise ye Jehovah.

Isaiah 43:1-13

43 But now thus saith Jehovah that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed thee; I have called thee by thy name, thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am Jehovah thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour; I have given Egypt as thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in thy stead. Since thou hast been precious in my sight, [a]and honorable, and I have loved thee; therefore will I give men in thy stead, and peoples instead of thy life. Fear not; for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back; bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the end of the earth; every one that is called by my name, and whom I have created for my glory, whom I have formed, yea, whom I have made.

Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears. [b]Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the peoples be assembled: who among them can declare this, and show us former things? let them bring their witnesses, that they may be justified; [c]or let them hear, and say, It is truth. 10 Ye are my witnesses, saith Jehovah, and my servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. 11 I, even I, am Jehovah; and besides me there is no saviour. 12 I have declared, and I have saved, and I have showed; and there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith Jehovah, and I am God. 13 Yea, [d]since the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who can hinder it?

Ephesians 3:14-21

14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father, 15 from whom every [a]family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that ye may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man; 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be strong to apprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye may be filled unto all the fulness of God.

20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 unto him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto [b]all generations for ever and ever. Amen.

Mark 2:23-3:6

23 And it came to pass, that he was going on the sabbath day through the grainfields; and his disciples [a]began, as they went, to pluck the ears. 24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? 25 And he said unto them, [b]Did ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, he, and they that were with him? 26 How he entered into the house of God [c]when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the showbread, which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests, and gave also to them that were with him? 27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: 28 so that the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath.

And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there who had his hand withered. And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him. And he saith unto the man that had his hand withered, [d]Stand forth. And he saith unto them, Is it lawful on the sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to kill? But they held their peace. And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their heart, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth; and his hand was restored. And the Pharisees went out, and straightway with the Herodians took counsel against him, how they might destroy him.
