Psalm 121-123

The Lord the Keeper of Israel.

A Song of Ascents.

121 I will (A)lift up my eyes to (B)the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My (C)help comes from the Lord,
Who (D)made heaven and earth.
He will not (E)allow your foot to slip;
He who (F)keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your (G)keeper;
The Lord is your (H)shade on your right hand.
The (I)sun will not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will [a](J)protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
The Lord will [b](K)guard your going out and your coming in
(L)From this time forth and forever.

Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem.

A Song of Ascents, of David.

122 I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us (M)go to the house of the Lord.”
Our feet are standing
Within your (N)gates, O Jerusalem,
Jerusalem, that is (O)built
As a city that is (P)compact together;
To which the tribes (Q)go up, even the tribes of [c]the Lord
[d]An ordinance for Israel—
To give thanks to the name of the Lord.
For there (R)thrones were set for judgment,
The thrones of the house of David.

Pray for the (S)peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who (T)love you.
“May peace be within your (U)walls,
And prosperity within your (V)palaces.”
For the sake of my (W)brothers and my friends,
I will now say, “(X)May peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will (Y)seek your good.

Prayer for the Lord’s Help.

A Song of Ascents.

123 To You I (Z)lift up my eyes,
O You who (AA)are enthroned in the heavens!
Behold, as the eyes of (AB)servants look to the hand of their master,
As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress,
So our (AC)eyes look to the Lord our God,
Until He is gracious to us.

(AD)Be gracious to us, O Lord, be gracious to us,
For we are greatly filled (AE)with contempt.
Our soul is greatly filled
With the (AF)scoffing of (AG)those who are at ease,
And with the (AH)contempt of the proud.

Psalm 131-132

Childlike Trust in the Lord.

A Song of Ascents, of David.

131 O Lord, my heart is not (A)proud, nor my eyes [a](B)haughty;
Nor do I [b]involve myself in (C)great matters,
Or in things (D)too [c]difficult for me.
Surely I have (E)composed and quieted my soul;
Like a weaned (F)child rests [d]against his mother,
My soul is like a weaned child [e]within me.
O Israel, (G)hope in the Lord
(H)From this time forth and forever.

Prayer for the Lord’s Blessing upon the Sanctuary.

A Song of Ascents.

132 Remember, O Lord, on David’s behalf,
All (I)his affliction;
How he swore to the Lord
And vowed to (J)the Mighty One of Jacob,
“Surely I will not [f]enter (K)my house,
Nor [g]lie on my bed;
I will not (L)give sleep to my eyes
Or slumber to my eyelids,
Until I find a (M)place for the Lord,
[h]A dwelling place for (N)the Mighty One of Jacob.”

Behold, we heard of it in (O)Ephrathah,
We found it in the (P)field of [i]Jaar.
Let us go into His [j](Q)dwelling place;
Let us (R)worship at His (S)footstool.
(T)Arise, O Lord, to Your (U)resting place,
You and the ark of Your (V)strength.
Let Your priests be (W)clothed with righteousness,
And let Your (X)godly ones sing for joy.

10 For the sake of David Your servant,
Do not turn away the face of Your (Y)anointed.
11 The Lord has (Z)sworn to David
A truth from which He will not turn back:
(AA)Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne.
12 “If your sons will keep My covenant
And My testimony which I will teach them,
Their sons also shall (AB)sit upon your throne forever.”

13 For the Lord has (AC)chosen Zion;
He has (AD)desired it for His habitation.
14 “This is My (AE)resting place forever;
Here I will (AF)dwell, for I have desired it.
15 “I will abundantly (AG)bless her provision;
I will (AH)satisfy her needy with bread.
16 “Her (AI)priests also I will clothe with salvation,
And her (AJ)godly ones will sing aloud for joy.
17 “There I will cause the (AK)horn of David to spring forth;
I have prepared a (AL)lamp for Mine anointed.
18 “His enemies I will (AM)clothe with shame,
But upon himself his (AN)crown shall shine.”

Isaiah 63:1-5

God’s Vengeance on the Nations

63 Who is this who comes from (A)Edom,
With (B)garments of [a]glowing colors from (C)Bozrah,
This One who is majestic in His apparel,
[b]Marching in the greatness of His strength?
“It is I who speak in righteousness, (D)mighty to save.”
Why is Your apparel red,
And Your garments like the one who (E)treads in the wine press?
(F)I have trodden the wine trough alone,
And from the peoples there was no man with Me.
I also (G)trod them in My anger
And (H)trampled them in My wrath;
And (I)their [c]lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments,
And I [d]stained all My raiment.
“For the (J)day of vengeance was in My heart,
And My year of redemption has come.
“I looked, and there was (K)no one to help,
And I was astonished and there was no one to uphold;
So My (L)own arm brought salvation to Me,
And My wrath upheld Me.

Revelation 2:18-29

Message to Thyatira

18 “And to the angel of the church in (A)Thyatira write:

(B)The Son of God, (C)who has [a]eyes like a flame of fire, and His feet are like burnished bronze, says this:

19 (D)I know your deeds, and your love and faith and service and [b]perseverance, and that your [c]deeds of late are greater than [d]at first. 20 But (E)I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman (F)Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they (G)commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 21 (H)I gave her time to repent, and she (I)does not want to repent of her immorality. 22 Behold, I will throw her [e]on a bed of sickness, and those who (J)commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of [f]her deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with [g]pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who (K)searches the [h]minds and hearts; and (L)I will give to each one of you according to your deeds. 24 But I say to you, the rest who are in (M)Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the (N)deep things of Satan, as they call them—I (O)place no other burden on you. 25 Nevertheless (P)what you have, hold fast (Q)until I come. 26 (R)He who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds (S)until the end, (T)to him I will give authority over the [i]nations; 27 and he shall [j](U)rule them with a rod of iron, (V)as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces, as I also have received authority from My Father; 28 and I will give him (W)the morning star. 29 (X)He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

John 5:1-15

The Healing at Bethesda

After these things there was (A)a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

Now there is in Jerusalem by (B)the sheep gate a pool, which is called (C)in [a]Hebrew [b]Bethesda, having five porticoes. In these lay a multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, and withered, [[c]waiting for the moving of the waters; for an angel of the Lord went down at certain seasons into the pool and stirred up the water; whoever then first, after the stirring up of the water, stepped in was made well from whatever disease with which he was afflicted.] A man was there who had been [d]ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition, He *said to him, “Do you wish to get well?” The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when (D)the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus *said to him, (E)Get up, pick up your pallet and walk.” Immediately the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk.

(F)Now it was the Sabbath on that day. 10 So (G)the Jews were saying to the man who was cured, “It is the Sabbath, and (H)it is not permissible for you to carry your pallet.” 11 But he answered them, “He who made me well was the one who said to me, ‘Pick up your pallet and walk.’ 12 They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Pick up your pallet and walk’?” 13 But the man who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped away while there was a crowd in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus *found him in the temple and said to him, “Behold, you have become well; do not (I)sin anymore, (J)so that nothing worse happens to you.” 15 The man went away, and told (K)the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
