118 1 David rejected of Saul and of the people at the time appointed obtained the kingdom. 4 For the which he biddeth all them, that fear the Lord, to be thankful. And under his person in all this was Christ lively set forth, who should be of his people rejected.
1 Praise [a]ye the Lord, because he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.
2 Let Israel now say, That his mercy endureth forever.
3 Let the house of Aaron now say, That his mercy endureth forever.
4 Let them that fear the Lord, now say, That his mercy endureth forever.
5 I called upon the Lord in [b]trouble, and the Lord heard me, and set me at large.
6 The Lord is with me: therefore I will not fear what [c]man can do unto me.
7 The Lord is with me among them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon mine enemies.
8 It is better to trust in the Lord, than to have confidence [d]in man.
9 It is better to trust in the Lord, than to have confidence in princes.
10 All nations have compassed me: but in the Name of the Lord shall I destroy them.
11 They have compassed me, yea, they have compassed me: but in the Name of the Lord I shall destroy them.
12 They came about me like bees, but they were quenched as a fire of thorns: for in the Name of the Lord I shall destroy them.
13 [e]Thou hast thrust sore at me, that I might fall: but the Lord hath helped me.
14 The Lord is my strength and [f]song: for he hath been my deliverance.
15 The [g]voice of joy and deliverance shall be in the tabernacles of the righteous, saying, The right hand of the Lord hath done valiantly.
16 [h]The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord hath done valiantly.
17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
18 The Lord had chastened me sore, but he hath not delivered me to death.
19 Open ye unto me the [i]gates of righteousness, that I may go into them, and praise the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord: the righteous shall enter into it.
21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and hast been my deliverance.
22 (A)The stone, which the builders [j]refused, is the head of the corner.
23 This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes,
24 This is the [k]day, which the Lord hath made: let us rejoice and be glad in it.
25 [l]O Lord, I pray thee, save now: O Lord, I pray thee now give prosperity.
26 Blessed be he, that cometh in the Name of the Lord: [m]we have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.
27 The Lord is mighty, and hath given us [n]light: bind the sacrifice with cords unto the horns of the altar.
28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee, even my God: therefore I will exalt thee.
29 Praise ye the Lord, because he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.
145 This Psalm was composed when the kingdom of David flourished. 1 Wherein he describeth the wonderful providence of God, as well in governing man, as in preserving all the rest of his creatures. 17 He praiseth God for his justice and mercy. 18 But specially for his loving-kindness toward those that call upon him, that fear him, and love him: 21 For the which he promiseth to praise him forever.
A Psalm of David of praise.
1 O my God and King, [a]I will extol thee, and will bless thy Name forever and ever.
2 I will bless thee daily, and praise thy Name forever and ever.
3 [b]Great is the Lord, and most worthy to be praised, and his greatness is incomprehensible.
4 Generation shall praise thy works unto [c]generation, and declare thy power.
5 I will meditate of the beauty of thy glorious majesty, and thy wonderful works.
6 And they shall speak of the power of thy [d]dreadful acts, and I will declare thy greatness.
7 They shall break out into the mention of thy great goodness, and shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
8 (A)The Lord is gracious, and [e]merciful, slow to anger, and of great mercy.
9 The Lord is good to all, and his mercies are over all his works.
10 All thy works praise thee, O Lord, and thy Saints bless thee.
11 [f]They show the glory of thy kingdom, and speak of thy power,
12 To cause his [g]power to be known to the sons of men, and the glorious renown of his kingdom.
13 Thy (B)kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all ages.
14 The Lord upholdeth all that [h]fall, and lifteth up all that are ready to fall.
15 The eyes of [i]all wait upon thee, and thou givest them their meat in due season.
16 Thou openest thine hand, and fillest all things living of thy good pleasure.
17 The Lord is [j]righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
18 The Lord is near unto all that call upon him, yea, to all that call upon him in [k]truth.
19 He will fulfill the [l]desire of them that fear him; he will also hear their cry, and will save them.
20 The Lord preserveth all them that love him; but he will destroy the wicked.
21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and all [m]flesh shall bless his holy Name forever and ever.
16 Go and gather the Elders of Israel together, and thou shalt say unto them, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob appeared unto me, and said, [a]I have surely remembered you, and that which is done to you in Egypt.
17 Therefore I did say, I will bring you out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land that floweth with milk and honey.
18 Then shall they obey my voice, and thou and the Elders of Israel shall go unto the King of Egypt, and say unto him, The Lord God of the Hebrews hath [b]met with us: we pray thee now therefore, let us go three days’ journey in the wilderness, that we may [c]sacrifice unto the Lord our God.
19 ¶ But I know, that the King of Egypt will not let you go, but by strong hand.
20 Therefore will I stretch out mine hand and smite Egypt with all my wonders, which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that shall he let you go.
21 And I will make this people to be favored of the Egyptians: so that when ye go, ye shall not go empty.
22 [d](A)For every woman shall ask of her neighbor, and of her [e]that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver and jewels of gold and raiment, and ye shall put them on your sons, and on your daughters, and shall spoil the Egyptians.
4 3 Moses’ rod is turned into a serpent. 6 His hand is leprous. 9 The water of the river is turned into blood. 14 Aaron is given to help Moses. 21 God hardeneth Pharaoh. 25 Moses’ wife circumciseth her son.
1 Then Moses answered, and said, [f]But lo, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee.
2 And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he answered, A rod.
3 Then said he, Cast it on the ground. So he cast it on the ground, and it was turned into a serpent: and Moses fled from it.
4 Again the Lord said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. Then he put forth his hand and caught it, and it was turned into a rod in his hand.
5 Do this [g]that they may believe, that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob hath appeared unto thee.
6 ¶ And the Lord said furthermore unto him, Thrust now thine hand into thy bosom. And he thrust his hand into his bosom, and when he took it out again, behold his hand was [h]leprous as snow.
7 Moreover he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. So he put his hand into his bosom again, and plucked it out of his bosom, and behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.
8 So shall it be, if they will not believe thee, neither obey [i]the voice of the first sign, yet shall they believe for the voice of the second sign.
9 But if they will not yet believe these two signs, neither obey unto thy voice, then shalt thou take of the [j]water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: so the water which thou shalt take out of the river, shall be turned to blood upon the dry land.
10 ¶ But Moses said unto the Lord, Oh my Lord, I am not eloquent, [k]neither at any time have been, nor yet since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am [l]slow of speech and slow of tongue.
11 Then the Lord said unto him, Who hath given the mouth to man? or who hath made the dumb, or the deaf, or him that seeth, or the blind? have not I the Lord?
12 Therefore go now, and (B)I will be with thy mouth, and will teach thee what thou shalt say.
12 1 He exhorteth 2 to that worship which is acceptable to God, 9 to love unfained, 14, 20 even towards our enemies.
1 I Beseech [a]you therefore brethren, [b]by the mercies of God, that ye [c]give up your [d]bodies a [e]living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your [f]reasonable serving of God.
2 [g]And fashion not yourselves like unto this world, but be ye changed by the renewing of your [h]mind, that ye may (A)prove what that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God is.
3 [i]For I [j]say through the grace that is given unto me, to everyone that is among you, that no man [k]presume to understand above that which is meet to understand, but that he understand according to [l]sobriety, as God hath dealt to every man the (B)measure of [m]faith.
4 [n]For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not one office,
5 So we being many, are one body in Christ, and every one, one anothers members.
6 (C)[o]Seeing then that we have gifts that are divers, according to the grace that is given unto us, whether we have prophecy, let us prophesy according to the [p]portion of faith.
7 Or an office, let us wait on the office: or he that [q]teacheth, on teaching:
8 Or he that [r]exhorteth, on exhortation: he that [s]distributeth, let him do it (D)with simplicity: he that [t]ruleth, with diligence: he that [u]showeth mercy, with cheerfulness.
9 [v]Let love be without dissimulation. (E)Abhor that which is evil, and cleave unto that which is good.
10 (F)Be affectioned to love one another with brotherly love. In giving honor, go one before another.
11 Not slothful to do service, fervent in spirit [w]serving the Lord,
12 [x]Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, (G)continuing in prayer.
13 (H)[y]Distributing unto the [z]necessities of the Saints: (I)giving yourselves to hospitality.
14 (J)Bless them which persecute you: bless, I say, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be like affectioned one towards another: (K)be not high-minded: but make yourselves equal to them of the [aa]lower sort: be not [ab]wise in yourselves.
17 (L)Recompense to no man evil for evil: procure things honest in the sight of all men.
18 (M)If it be possible, as much as in you is, have peace with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, (N)avenge not yourselves, but give place unto wrath: for it is written, (O)Vengeance is mine: I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 (P)Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him: if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap [ac]coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with goodness.
46 [a]Which of you can rebuke me of sin? and if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
47 (A)He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
48 [b]Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil, but I honor my Father, and ye have dishonored me.
50 And I seek not mine own praise: but there is one that [c]seeketh it, and judgeth.
51 [d]Verily, verily I say unto you, If a man keep my word, he shall never [e]see death.
52 [f]Then said the Jews to him, Now know we that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the Prophets: and thou sayest, If a man keep my word, he shall never taste of death.
53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the Prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
54 [g]Jesus answered, If I honor myself, mine honor is [h]nothing worth: it is my Father that honoreth me, whom ye say, that he is your God.
55 [i]Yet ye have not known him: but I know him, and if I should say I know him not, I should be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his word.
56 [j]Your father Abraham [k]rejoiced to see my [l]day, and he [m]saw it, and was glad.
57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily I say unto you, before Abraham was, I [n]am.
59 [o]Then took they up stones to cast at him, but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the Temple: And he passed through the midst of them, and so went his way.
