Psalm 119:145-176

ק QOPH

145 I cry out with my whole heart;
Hear me, O Lord!
I will keep Your statutes.
146 I cry out to You;
Save me, and I will keep Your testimonies.
147 (A)I rise before the dawning of the morning,
And cry for help;
I hope in Your word.
148 (B)My eyes are awake through the night watches,
That I may meditate on Your word.
149 Hear my voice according to Your lovingkindness;
O Lord, revive me according to Your justice.
150 They draw near who follow after wickedness;
They are far from Your law.
151 You are (C)near, O Lord,
And all Your commandments are truth.
152 Concerning Your testimonies,
I have known of old that You have founded them (D)forever.

ר RESH

153 (E)Consider my affliction and deliver me,
For I do not forget Your law.
154 (F)Plead my cause and redeem me;
Revive me according to Your word.
155 Salvation is far from the wicked,
For they do not seek Your statutes.
156 [a]Great are Your tender mercies, O Lord;
Revive me according to Your judgments.
157 Many are my persecutors and my enemies,
Yet I do not (G)turn from Your testimonies.
158 I see the treacherous, and (H)am disgusted,
Because they do not keep Your word.
159 Consider how I love Your precepts;
Revive me, O Lord, according to Your lovingkindness.
160 The entirety of Your word is truth,
And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.

ש SHIN

161 (I)Princes persecute me without a cause,
But my heart stands in awe of Your word.
162 I rejoice at Your word
As one who finds great treasure.
163 I hate and abhor lying,
But I love Your law.
164 Seven times a day I praise You,
Because of Your righteous judgments.
165 (J)Great peace have those who love Your law,
And [b]nothing causes them to stumble.
166 (K)Lord, I hope for Your salvation,
And I do Your commandments.
167 My soul keeps Your testimonies,
And I love them exceedingly.
168 I keep Your precepts and Your testimonies,
(L)For all my ways are before You.

ת TAU

169 Let my cry come before You, O Lord;
(M)Give me understanding according to Your word.
170 Let my [c]supplication come before You;
Deliver me according to Your word.
171 (N)My lips shall utter praise,
For You teach me Your statutes.
172 My tongue shall speak of Your word,
For all Your commandments are righteousness.
173 Let Your hand become my help,
For (O)I have chosen Your precepts.
174 (P)I long for Your salvation, O Lord,
And (Q)Your law is my delight.
175 Let my soul live, and it shall praise You;
And let Your judgments help me.
176 (R)I have gone astray like a lost sheep;
Seek Your servant,
For I do not forget Your commandments.

Psalm 128-130

Blessings of Those Who Fear the Lord

A Song of Ascents.

128 Blessed (A)is every one who fears the Lord,
Who walks in His ways.

(B)When you eat the [a]labor of your hands,
You shall be happy, and it shall be (C)well with you.
Your wife shall be (D)like a fruitful vine
In the very heart of your house,
Your (E)children (F)like olive plants
All around your table.
Behold, thus shall the man be blessed
Who fears the Lord.

(G)The Lord bless you out of Zion,
And may you see the good of Jerusalem
All the days of your life.
Yes, may you (H)see your children’s children.

(I)Peace be upon Israel!

Song of Victory over Zion’s Enemies

A Song of Ascents.

129 “Many a time they have (J)afflicted[b] me from (K)my youth,”
(L)Let Israel now say—
“Many a time they have afflicted me from my youth;
Yet they have not prevailed against me.
The plowers plowed on my back;
They made their furrows long.”
The Lord is righteous;
He has cut in pieces the cords of the wicked.

Let all those who hate Zion
Be put to shame and turned back.
Let them be as the (M)grass on the housetops,
Which withers before it grows up,
With which the reaper does not fill his hand,
Nor he who binds sheaves, his [c]arms.
Neither let those who pass by them say,
(N)“The blessing of the Lord be upon you;
We bless you in the name of the Lord!”

Waiting for the Redemption of the Lord

A Song of Ascents.

130 Out (O)of the depths I have cried to You, O Lord;
Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive
To the voice of my supplications.

(P)If You, Lord, should [d]mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could (Q)stand?
But there is (R)forgiveness with You,
That (S)You may be feared.

(T)I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
And (U)in His word I do hope.
(V)My soul waits for the Lord
More than those who watch for the morning—
Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.

(W)O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For (X)with the Lord there is mercy,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
And (Y)He shall redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

2 Kings 22:14-23:3

14 So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of (A)Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe. (She dwelt in Jerusalem in the Second Quarter.) And they spoke with her. 15 Then she said to them, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel, ‘Tell the man who sent you to Me, 16 “Thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, (B)I will bring calamity on this place and on its inhabitants—all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read— 17 (C)because they have forsaken Me and burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke Me to anger with all the works of their hands. Therefore My wrath shall be aroused against this place and shall not be quenched.’ ” ’ 18 But as for (D)the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the Lord, in this manner you shall speak to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel: “Concerning the words which you have heard— 19 because your (E)heart was tender, and you (F)humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they would become (G)a desolation and (H)a curse, and you tore your clothes and wept before Me, I also have heard you,” says the Lord. 20 “Surely, therefore, I will [a]gather you to your fathers, and you (I)shall [b]be gathered to your grave in peace; and your eyes shall not see all the calamity which I will bring on this place.” ’ ” So they brought back word to the king.

Josiah Restores True Worship(J)

23 Now (K)the king sent them to gather all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem to him. The king went up to the house of the Lord with all the men of Judah, and with him all the inhabitants of Jerusalem—the priests and the prophets and all the people, both small and great. And he (L)read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant (M)which had been found in the house of the Lord.

Then the king (N)stood by a pillar and made a (O)covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant.

1 Corinthians 11:23-34

Institution of the Lord’s Supper(A)

23 For (B)I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: (C)that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, [a]“Take, eat; this is My body which is [b]broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death (D)till He comes.

Examine Yourself

27 Therefore whoever eats (E)this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and [c]blood of the Lord. 28 But (F)let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks [d]in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the [e]Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many [f]sleep. 31 For (G)if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, (H)we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

33 Therefore, my brethren, when you (I)come together to eat, wait for one another. 34 But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together for judgment. And the rest I will set in order when I come.

Matthew 9:9-17

Matthew the Tax Collector(A)

(B)As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him.

10 (C)Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with (D)tax collectors and (E)sinners?”

12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: (F)‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, (G)but sinners, [a]to repentance.”

Jesus Is Questioned About Fasting(H)

14 Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, (I)“Why do we and the Pharisees fast [b]often, but Your disciples do not fast?”

15 And Jesus said to them, “Can (J)the [c]friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and (K)then they will fast. 16 No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for [d]the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. 17 Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins [e]break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
