Lexham English Bible (LEB)
Version
Psalm 87

Foreign Nations Come to Worship in Jerusalem

Of the sons of Korah. A psalm. A song.[a]

87 His foundation is on the holy mountains.
Yahweh loves the gates of Zion
more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
Glorious things are spoken about[b] you,
O city of God. Selah
I will record[c] those who know me
in Rahab[d] and Babylon,
behold in Philistia and Tyre with Cush,
“This one was born there.”
But with respect to Zion it shall be said,
Each one[e] was born in her,”
for the Most High himself will establish her.
Yahweh will record in writing the peoples,
“This one was born there.” Selah
And while dancing, singers will sing,
“All my springs are in you.”

Psalm 90

God’s Eternity and Human Frailty

A prayer of Moses, the man of God.[a]

90 O Lord, you have been our help[b] in all generations.[c]
Before the mountains were born
and you brought forth the earth and the world,
even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.
You return man to the dust,
saying,[d] “Return, O sons of man.”
For a thousand years in your eyes
are like yesterday when it passes,
or like a watch in the night.
You sweep them away like a flood.
They fall asleep.[e]
In the morning they are like grass that sprouts anew.
In the morning it blossoms and sprouts anew;
by evening it withers and dries up.
For we are brought to an end by your anger,
and we hasten off[f] by your wrath.
You have put our iniquities before you,
our hidden sins into the light of your countenance.
For all of our days dwindle away in your rage;
we complete our years like a sigh.
10 As for the days of our years, within them are seventy years
or if by strength eighty years, and their pride[g] is trouble and disaster,
for it passes quickly and we fly away.
11 Who knows the strength of your anger,
and your rage consistent with[h] the fear due you?
12 So teach us to number our days
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
13 Return,[i] O Yahweh. How long?
And have compassion on[j] your servants.
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your loyal love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
for as many years as we have seen calamity.
16 Let your work be visible to your servants,
and your majesty to their children.
17 And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us,
and establish for us the work of our hands,
yes, the work of our hands, establish it.

Psalm 136

Praise to God for His Creation and Deliverance

136 Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good,
for his loyal love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods,
for his loyal love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords,
for his loyal love endures forever.
To him who alone does great wonders,
for his loyal love endures forever.
To him who made the heavens with skill,[a]
for his loyal love endures forever.
To him who spread out the earth above the waters,
for his loyal love endures forever.
To him who made the great lights,
for his loyal love endures forever.
The sun to rule the day,
for his loyal love endures forever.
The moon and stars to rule the night,
for his loyal love endures forever.
10 To him who struck Egypt through their firstborn,
for his loyal love endures forever.
11 And he brought Israel out from among them,
for his loyal love endures forever.
12 With a strong hand and an outstretched arm,
for his loyal love endures forever.
13 To him who divided the Red Sea[b] in two,
for his loyal love endures forever.
14 And he let Israel cross over through the midst of it,
for his loyal love endures forever.
15 But he tossed Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea,[c]
for his loyal love endures forever.
16 To him who led his people through the wilderness,
for his loyal love endures forever.
17 To him who struck great kings,
for his loyal love endures forever.
18 And he killed mighty kings,
for his loyal love endures forever.
19 Sihon the king of the Amorites,
for his loyal love endures forever.
20 And Og the king of Bashan,
for his loyal love endures forever.
21 And he gave their land as an inheritance,
for his loyal love endures forever.
22 An inheritance to Israel his servant,
for his loyal love endures forever.
23 Who remembered us in our low estate,
for his loyal love endures forever.
24 And he rescued us from our enemies,
for his loyal love endures forever.
25 The one who gives food to all flesh,
for his loyal love endures forever.
26 Give thanks to the God of heaven,
for his loyal love endures forever.

Isaiah 61:10-62:5

10 I will rejoice greatly in Yahweh;
my being shall shout in exultation in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation,
he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns himself with a head wrap like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewelry.
11 For as the earth produces[a] its sprout,
and as a garden makes its plants sprout,
so the Lord Yahweh will make righteousness sprout,
and praise before all the nations.

Zion’s New Identity

62 For the sake of Zion I will not be silent,
and for the sake of Jerusalem I will not maintain a quiet attitude,
until her righteousness goes out like the bright light,
and her salvation burns like a torch.
And the nations shall see your righteousness,
and all the kings your glory,
and you will be called[b] a new name
that the mouth of Yahweh will designate.
And you shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of Yahweh,
and a headband of royalty in the hand of your God.
It shall no longer be said of you, “Forsaken,”
and it shall no longer be said of your land, “Desolation!”
but you will[c] be called “My Delight Is In Her,”
    and your land, “Married,”
for Yahweh delights in you,
and your land shall be married.
For as a young man marries a virgin,
so shall your sons marry you,
and as is the joy of the bridegroom over the bride,
so shall your God rejoice over you.

2 Timothy 4:1-8

Paul’s Charge to Timothy

I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom, preach the word, be ready in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all patience and instruction. For there will be a time when they will not put up with sound teaching, but in accordance with their own desires, they will accumulate for themselves teachers, because they have an insatiable curiosity[a], and they will turn away from the hearing of the truth, but will turn to myths. But you, be self-controlled in all things, bear hardship patiently, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is imminent. I have fought the good fight, I have completed the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, the crown of righteousness is reserved for me, that the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing.

Mark 10:46-52

A Blind Man Healed at Jericho

46 And they came to Jericho. And as[a] he was setting out from Jericho along with his disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar, Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus, was sitting beside the road. 47 And when he[b] heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 And many people warned him that he should be quiet. But he was crying out even more loudly,[c] “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 And Jesus stopped and[d] said, “Call him.” And they called the blind man and[e] said to him, “Have courage! Get up! He is calling you.” 50 And he threw off his cloak, jumped up, and[f] came to Jesus. 51 And Jesus answered him and[g] said, “What do you want me to do[h] for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabboni,[i] that I may regain my sight.” 52 And Jesus said to him, “Go, your faith has healed you.” And immediately he regained his sight and began to follow[j] him on the road.
