Psalm 61-62

Psalm 61

For the Music Director. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

Hear my cry, O God,
    attend to my prayer.

From the end of the earth I will cry to You;
    when my heart faints,
    lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For You have been a refuge for me,
    and a strong tower from the enemy.

I will abide in Your tent forever;
    I will seek refuge in the covering of Your wings. Selah
For You, O God, have heard my vows;
    You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name.

May You prolong the king’s life,
    and may his years be as many generations.
May he sit enthroned before God forever;
    oh, prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.

Thus will I sing praise to Your name forever,
    that I may fulfill my vows day by day.

Psalm 62

For the Music Director. According to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.

My soul waits in silence on God alone;
    from Him comes my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
    He is my refuge; I will not be greatly shaken.

How long will you attack a man,
    to batter him, all of you,
    as you would a leaning wall, a tottering fence?
They only conspire to cast him down
    from his high position;
    they delight in lies,
they bless with their mouth,
    but they curse inwardly. Selah

My soul, wait silently for God,
    for my hope is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
    He is my refuge; I will not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory;
    the rock of my strength, and my shelter, is in God.
Trust in Him at all times;
    you people, pour out your heart before Him;
    God is a shelter for us. Selah

Surely people of low degree are a breath,
    and men of high degree are a lie;
if they are placed in the balance,
    they are altogether lighter than vapor.
10 Do not trust in oppression,
    and do not become vain in robbery;
if riches increase,
    do not set your heart on them.

11 God has spoken once,
    twice have I heard this:
that power belongs to God.
12     Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy;
for You render to each one
    according to his work.

Psalm 112

Psalm 112

Praise the Lord!

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
    who delights greatly in His commandments.

His offspring shall be mighty in the land;
    the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
Wealth and riches shall be in his house,
    and his righteousness endures forever.
To the upright there arises light in the darkness;
    he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
A good man shows generous favor, and lends;
    he will guide his affairs with justice.

Surely the righteous man shall not be moved;
    the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings;
    his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is established; he shall not be afraid,
    until he sees triumph upon his enemies.
He has given away freely; he has given to the poor;
    his righteousness endures forever;
    his horn shall be exalted with honor.

10 The wicked shall see it and be grieved;
    he shall gnash his teeth and melt away;
    the desire of the wicked shall perish.

Psalm 115

Psalm 115(A)

Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us,
    but unto Your name give glory,
    for the sake of Your mercy, and for the sake of Your truth.

Why should the nations say,
    “Where now is their God?”
But our God is in the heavens;
    He does whatever He pleases.
Their idols are silver and gold,
    the work of men’s hands.
They have mouths, but they cannot speak;
    eyes, but they cannot see;
they have ears, but they cannot hear;
    noses, but they cannot smell;
they have hands, but they cannot feel;
    feet, but they cannot walk;
    neither can they speak with their throat.
Those who make them are like them;
    so is everyone who trusts in them.

O Israel, trust in the Lord;
    He is their help and their shield.
10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord;
    He is their help and their shield.
11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord;
    He is their help and their shield.

12 The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us;
    He will bless the house of Israel;
    He will bless the house of Aaron.
13 He will bless those who fear the Lord,
    both the small and great ones.

14 The Lord shall increase you more and more,
    you and your children.
15 You are blessed of the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.

16 The heavens belong to the Lord,
    but the earth He has given to the children of men.
17 The dead do not praise the Lord,
    nor do any who go down into silence.
18 But we will bless the Lord
    from this time and for evermore.

Praise the Lord!

Isaiah 11:1-9

The Righteous Branch of Jesse

11 And there shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,
    and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
    the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
    the Spirit of counsel and might,
    the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

He shall delight in the fear of the Lord,
    and he shall not judge by what his eyes see,
    nor reprove by what his ears hear;
but with righteousness he shall judge the poor,
    and reprove with fairness for the meek of the earth.
He shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth,
    and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.
Righteousness shall be the belt of his loins,
    and faithfulness the belt about his waist.

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
    and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
    and a little child shall lead them.
The cow and the bear shall graze;
    their young ones shall lie down together;
    and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
The nursing child shall play by the hole of the asp,
    and the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den.
They shall not hurt or destroy
    in all My holy mountain,
for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord,
    as the waters cover the sea.

Revelation 20:1-10

The Thousand Years

20 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be set free for a little while.

I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and the authority to judge was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness of Jesus and for the word of God. They had not worshipped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who takes part in the first resurrection. Over these the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

The Defeat of Satan

When the thousand years are ended, Satan will be set free from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle. Their number is like the sand of the sea. They traveled the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. But fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet were. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

John 5:30-47

30 I can do nothing of Myself. As I hear, I judge. My judgment is just, because I seek not My own will, but the will of the Father who sent Me.

Witnesses to Jesus

31 “If I bear witness of Myself, My testimony is not true. 32 There is another who bears witness of Me, and I know that the testimony which He bears of Me is true.

33 “You sent to John, and he bore witness of the truth. 34 I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things that you may be saved. 35 He was a burning and a shining lamp, and you were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

36 “I have greater testimony than that of John. The works which the Father has given Me to finish, the very works that I do, bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me. 37 The Father Himself, who has sent Me, has borne witness of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. 38 You do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe the One He has sent. 39 You search the Scriptures, because you think in them you have eternal life. These are they who bear witness of Me. 40 Yet you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

41 “I do not receive honor from men. 42 But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you. 43 I have come in My Father’s name, but you do not receive Me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him. 44 How can you believe, who receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?

45 “Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you—Moses, in whom you trust. 46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote of Me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”
