Psalm 45

The King’s Wedding Song

45 My heart flows over with good words. I sing my songs to the King. My tongue writes the words of a good writer. You are more beautiful than the children of men. Loving-favor is poured upon Your lips. So God has honored You forever.

Put Your sword on at Your side, O Powerful One, in Your greatness and power that can be seen. And in Your great power, move on to win the fight for truth and for not having pride and for what is right and good. Let Your right hand teach You to do great things. Your arrows are sharp. The people fall under You. Your arrows are in the heart of those who hate the King.

O God, Your throne is forever and ever. You rule Your holy nation by what is right. You have loved what is right and good. You have hated what is wrong. That is why God, Your God, has chosen You. He has poured over You the oil of joy more than over anyone else. All Your clothes smell of fine perfumes. Out of ivory palaces music of strings have made You glad. Daughters of kings are among Your women of honor. At Your right hand stands the queen, wearing gold from Ophir.

10 Listen, O daughter, hear my words and think about them. Forget your people and your father’s house. 11 Then the King will desire your beauty. Because He is your Lord, bow down to Him. 12 And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift. The rich people will ask for your favor.

13 The daughter of the King is beautiful within. Her clothes are made with gold. 14 She will be led to the King in clothes sewed for beauty. The young women who have never had men are her friends. They follow her and will be brought to You. 15 They will be led in with joy and happiness, because they will come into the King’s palace.

16 Instead of Your fathers, it will be Your sons whom You will make rulers over all the earth. 17 I will make Your name to be remembered to all the children-to-come. So that the nations will honor You forever and ever.

Psalm 47-48

God—the King of the Earth

47 Show your happiness, all peoples! Call out to God with the voice of joy! For the Lord Most High is to be feared. He is a great King over all the earth. He sets people under us, and nations under our feet. He chooses for us what is to be ours, the pride of Jacob, whom He loves.

God has gone up with a loud voice, the Lord with the sound of a horn. Sing praises to God. Sing praises. Sing praises to our King. Sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth. Sing praises with a well written song. God rules over the nations. God sits on His holy throne. The rulers of the people have gathered together as the people of the God of Abraham. For the powers of the earth belong to God. He is much honored.

It Is Foolish to Trust in Riches

48 The Lord is great and should be given much praise, in the city of our God, His holy mountain. Mount Zion in the far north is beautiful and high, the joy of the whole earth, the city of the great King. God has made Himself known as a safe place in that city.

For, see, the kings gathered themselves and went up together. They saw it, then they were surprised and afraid. And they ran away fast in fear. They began shaking there. And they suffered pain like a woman giving birth. You wreck the ships of Tarshish with the east wind. As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of the Lord of All, in the city of our God. God will make her last forever.

O God, we have thought about Your loving-kindness within Your holy house. 10 Like Your name, O God, Your praise is heard to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is full of what is right and good. 11 Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the people of Judah be full of joy because You are right in how You judge. 12 Walk in Zion, and go around her. See how many towers she has. 13 Give thought to her walls. Go through her beautiful houses where kings live. And tell about it to the children-to-come. 14 This is God, our God forever and ever. He will show us the way until death.

Revelation 11:14-19

14 The second time of trouble is past. But look, the third time of trouble is coming soon.

The Seventh Horn—Worship in Heaven

15 The seventh angel blew his horn. There were loud voices in heaven saying, “The nations of the world have become the holy nation of our Lord and of His Christ. He will be the Leader forever.” 16 Then the twenty-four leaders who sat on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God. 17 They said, “All-powerful Lord God, the One Who is and Who was and Who is to come, we thank You because You are using Your great power and have become Leader. 18 The people who do not know God have become angry with You. Now it is time for You to be angry with them. It is time for the dead to stand before You and to be judged. It is time for the servants You own who are the early preachers and those who belong to You to get the reward that is coming to them. It is time for the important people and those not important who honor Your name to get the pay that is coming to them. It is time to destroy those who have made every kind of trouble on the earth.”

19 God’s house in heaven was opened. The special box which held the Old Way of Worship was seen in the house of God. There was lightning and thunder and noise. The earth shook and large hail stones fell.

Luke 11:27-36

27 As Jesus was talking, a woman of the group said with a loud voice, “The woman is happy who gave You birth and who fed You.” 28 But He said, “Yes, but those who hear the Word of God and obey it are happy.”

Jesus Tells about Jonah (A)

29 When the people were gathered near Jesus, He said, “The people of this day are sinful. They are looking for something special to see. They will get nothing special to see, except what Jonah the early preacher did. 30 As Jonah was something special to the people of the city of Nineveh, the Son of Man will be to the people of this day also. 31 The queen of the south will stand up on the day men stand before God. She will say the people of this day are guilty because she came from the ends of the earth to listen to the wise sayings of Solomon. And look, Someone greater than Solomon is here! 32 The men of Nineveh will stand up on the day men stand before God. They will say the people of this day are guilty because the men of Nineveh were sorry for their sins and turned from them when Jonah preached. And look, Someone greater than Jonah is here!

Jesus Teaches about Light

33 “No man lights a lamp and then hides it under a pail. He puts the light on a lamp-stand so those who come in can see it. 34 The eye is the light of the body. When your eye is good, your whole body is full of light. When your eye is sinful, your whole body is full of darkness. 35 Be careful that the light in you is not dark. 36 If your whole body is full of light, with no dark part, then it will shine. It will be as a lamp that gives light.”
