Psalm 113

The Lord Exalts the Humble.

113 [a]Praise [b]the Lord!
(A)Praise Him, you (B)servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord.
(C)Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time on and forever.
(D)From [c]the rising of the sun to its setting,
The (E)name of the Lord is to be praised.
The Lord is (F)high above all nations;
His (G)glory is above the heavens.

(H)Who is like the Lord our God,
Who (I)is enthroned on high,
Who (J)looks far down to
The heavens and the earth?
He (K)raises the poor from the dust,
He lifts the needy from the garbage heap,
To (L)seat them with noblemen,
With the noblemen of His people.
He (M)has the infertile woman live in the house
As a joyful mother of children.
[d]Praise [e]the Lord!

Psalm 122

Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem.

A Song of Ascents, of David.

122 I was glad when they said to me,
“Let’s (A)go to the house of the Lord.”
Our feet are standing
Within your (B)gates, Jerusalem,
Jerusalem, that has been (C)built
As a city that is (D)firmly joined together;
To which the tribes (E)go up, the tribes of [a]the Lord
[b]An ordinance for Israel—
To give thanks to the name of the Lord.
For (F)thrones were set there for judgment,
The thrones of the house of David.

Pray for the (G)peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who (H)love you.
May peace be within your (I)walls,
And prosperity within your (J)palaces.”
For the sake of my (K)brothers and my friends,
I will now say, “(L)May peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will (M)seek your good.

1 Samuel 1:20-28

20 It came about [a]in due time, after Hannah had conceived, that she gave birth to a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, “(A)Because I have asked for him of the Lord.”

21 Then the man Elkanah (B)went up with all his household to offer to the Lord the yearly sacrifice and to pay his vow. 22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “I will not go until the child is weaned; then I will (C)bring him, so that he may appear before the Lord and (D)stay there for life.” 23 (E)Elkanah her husband said to her, “Do [b]what seems best to you. Stay until you have weaned him; only (F)may the Lord confirm His word.” So the woman stayed and nursed her son until she weaned him. 24 Now when she had weaned him, (G)she took him up with her, with a three-year-old bull, one ephah of flour, and a jug of wine, and brought him to (H)the house of the Lord in Shiloh, although the child was young. 25 Then (I)they [c]slaughtered the bull, and (J)brought the boy to Eli. 26 And she said, “Pardon me, my lord! (K)As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you, praying to the Lord. 27 (L)For this boy I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my request which I asked of Him. 28 (M)So I have also [d]dedicated him to the Lord; as long as he lives he is [e]dedicated to the Lord.” And (N)he worshiped the Lord there.

Romans 8:14-21

14 For all who are (A)being led by the Spirit of God, these are (B)sons and daughters of God. 15 For you (C)have not received a spirit of slavery [a]leading to fear again, but you (D)have received [b]a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out, “(E)Abba! [c]Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself (F)testifies with our spirit that we are (G)children of God, 17 and if children, (H)heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, (I)if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (J)are not worthy to be compared with the (K)glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the (L)eagerly awaiting creation waits for (M)the revealing of the (N)sons and daughters of God. 20 For the creation (O)was subjected to (P)futility, not willingly, but (Q)because of Him who subjected it, [d]in hope 21 that (R)the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
